I hope this time the other Jaegers get to do more than just get ripped apart fighting submerged monsters we couldn't see half of the time.

    More budget more fighting plz.

Optimistic but that went more power ranger than I expected.

I'm probably a bit more meh than I should be because that music choice straight out sucked. Just let Morello and Djawadi show that class that gave the first film such an iconic soundtrack.

It's possible that the CG isn't final yet.

CG in trailers is usually never final. VFX houses usually have Trailer Renders that are rushed and then they will do several other passes before getting to a Final Render.

I sure hope there is as much love put into the worldbuilding as in the first, a movie which had gipsy dangers pilots with have their own cool symbolized bomber jackets that they wore for 15 seconds from bed to the JEAGER.
    And it was awesome

So, those Jaeger on Jaeger fights in the trailer...

  • ForarForar #432 Toronto, Ontario, CanadaRegistered User regular
Yeah, they're definitely raising some questions there. I have a hard time imagining a simple Robot Jox Boxing League arrangement at that size/cost.

    My initial assumption is that (spoilers purely for speculation);
Human on human fighting that gets interrupted when the monsters return, or some measure of control exuding by a monster, be it mental or simply infecting the machine in some capacity).

Given the "evil" coloring for the jaeger they're fighting I'm guessing some agency goes rogue and collaborates or something.

    I'm kind of wondering if
Those aren't "shells" for the Kaiju (think reverse Pretenders from Transformers) built by reverse engineering the remains of GD and what they were able to scavenge from when the two scientists were drifting with baby Otachi.

I wouldn't necessarily want them to repeat the boat gag (though I wouldn't complain if they did either), but I do hope they use something absurd as a weapon all the same. It's practically a necessity.

Remember that Romeo Blue used a highway overpass to beat down a Kaiju during the prologue of the first movie (it was just hard to make out because it was in night vision).

there was some weird insecty looking small robots in there too. Maybe those are Kaiju bots and the Jaeger on Jaeger is just humans.

It's just stone on top of stone, like trying to use a tower of stacked cards as a pole

Now, the three spikes of the Air Force Memorial for a robot with three arms, that is an option

I always had a kind of internalized headcanon that the bodily fluids of a kaiju were so toxic that eviscerating one in the water was just too environmentally damaging that a win that way would be a Pyrrhic victory.

Cause the idea that not using ranged weaponry for starters, or whipping out that chained sword at the FIRST opportunity every time, made me require there a reason they NOT do so. There's a reason humans use weapons. Because punching things isn't as effective as hitting it with something.

I'm pretty sure that's actually something they spell out in the opening to Pacific Rim - Kaiju Blue is toxic to just about everyone and everything on earth.

    Now Playing:
Celeste [Switch] - She'll be wrestling with inner demons when she comes...
Super Mario Wonder - Wowie Zowie!
