Since everyone is giving away games right now, I figured it would be a good time to post a list of games that I have to give. First to speak up gets the game. These are all on Steam.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Pirates of Black Cove
Sword of the Stars: Complete Collection
Vessel
Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
A New Beginning - Final Cut
AquaNox
Bioshock Bioshock 2
Also, thanks for the zombie wallet warning. I'll handle with care.
I will disagree with this assessment. Many people say to skip AC1, but if you are the kind of gamer who can get immersed in the beauty of a game world, AC1 is an amazing game. No, it's not as good as 2, but it's still damned entertaining as an immersive experience.
I played it in sections: one assassination a night, no more. I'd ride to the city in question, do EVERY optional quest (though you need not), plan my approach, attempt to get the kill without being seen, flee, save, turn it off until tomorrow. Playing this way allowed me to lose myself in the world of the ancient middle east without burning myself out on the repetition.
So, if you're anything like me, give AC1 a go. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised.
While Crysis was a really good game, Crysis 2 was outrageously boring for me. It feels super linear, not as pretty as Crysis and just not as fun to play.
Why would you say that, what is this "Secret World"?
Online MMO with no monthly fee. Seems like a really unique setting and looks nice. I think it was Luchaire that said the character creation was fairly bad, but otherwise I've heard good things.
Very true. In terms of actually feeling like an assassin Ubisoft has never topped AC1. In terms of making me care about the main character and telling me a great story, they've never topped AC2. And finally, in terms of feeling like an absolute badass who's running everything, they've never topped Brotherhood.
You can really tell what thing was at the top of each design doc after playing the games. Except for Revelations that is. It was fun, but I can't decide what one thing they wanted me to really appreciate in that one.
Wake up this morning to @DyasAlure gifting me the time machine that is Sid Meier's Civilization IV. Where Im going, I dont need roads. Because Im probably not leaving my computer until my old dusty bones collapse under their own weight. Thanks!

Cthulhu, Vikings, Illuminati, plus some cool quests where you actually have to use your brains.

It's a dish of Awesomeness disguised as an MMO casserole.
Pure yummy. Everybody should have some.
And the rumors that I spent 18 hours just creating a character before I started playing are grossly exaggerated. It was more like 16.
More like an even 20.
Edit - it was 3 RL days before she made it into the first town so she could accept my gift of $1million to be used exclusively for shopping. THREE DAYS TO GET TO THE FIRST TOWN. She remade her character like twice.
CorriganX on
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
I've heard a lot about problems with the PC port of Devil May Cry 3, are they fixable? I just bough the DMC hd pack on 360 for my wife so would I be better off just playing that?

The combat feels old and the animations suck, but everything else about the game is pretty damn good. It's like one of the first MMOs I can think of in like a decade that has done something different regarding the questing system. There's still some of the 'collect 10 X' but for the most part the quests are very unique.

That's not how I remember it. I remember her saying she was just really bad at character creation.
In fairness apparently you can redo your characters appearance after creation and she didn't know that.
I've seen some really cool videos of TSW! I've been keeping an eye on it.
Seriously people, get System Shock 2. Not only is it one of the best games ever but I can't emphasize enough how wonderful it is seeing it on Steam/GOG now because 1) while critically acclaimed it didn't sell as well as it should and physical copies were hard to come by for a decade, 2) disc copies were notoriously difficult to run on newer machines, and 3) it wasn't available for digital distribution for a long time because of well-intentioned but ultimately dumb copyright shenanigans.
The fact that we have a cheap, playable, up-rezed System Shock 2 in this day and age is nothing short of a miracle to those of us who have been extolling its virtues for almost 14 years.
And SHODAN is one of the greatest video game villains ever.

I had no problem with DMC3 when I played it.
But that was years ago so things could be different now.

Yes, and then you gave me A MILLION BUCKS and told me to go clothing shopping.
I expect to start on my first actual quest any day now...

That's why I can't bring myself to buy it. It sounds awesome, but I'm a giant baby-man.
Get your tights on @jclast, you have a date in Sherwood!
System Shockage still available:
Also, came home from work to discover not one but two gifts from classy individuals. Thanks mahoosively to @Heatwave for Dishonoured, and @DyasAlure for Magicka!

high five! i've been playing this wonderful game about ponies recently. you should try it!
The Secret World sounds good but £12.49 during a Steam Sale is a lot and I probably don't have time for an MMO with a baby due in under a month...
You should check if it's a game you can easily play with one hand while holding a sleeping baby. I was able to play Anarchy Online fairly well after my shoulder surgery, they are both Funcom so I'd assume the controls are relatively similar.
You'll probably get more gaming in the next six months than you do in six years following...I know I did (three years anyway).
Also, get a boppy. It's the crescent shaped pillow. Putting it around your waist makes it really easy to hold your sleeping baby, sit, and game.
I heard about there possibly being a 30% GMG coupon code that's active right now on select titles, but I'm not seeing anything about it on their site. Can anyone confirm this info? My friend was telling me I can get FF7 for like $8.39 but I'm not seeing that coupon on their site.

I suck terribly at it and need to go back, but my limited time with it makes it feel like playing a Stephen King novel. With flashlights.
Updated the list.

It's the most atmospheric game I have ever played. If you like Twin Peaks or Stephen King you will love this game.
Also, @SirMonty, I just got Tomb Raider. Send me a friend request or something and we'll talk!
Currently playing: GW2 and TSW
Gotta give them a call some time today.

i bought the alan wake franchise. im so poor that my computer has to be in the kitchen.

I ended up blowing some money on Skyrim DLC today. On the fence on Sleeping Dogs DLC since it seemed kinda lackluster.
