You are a Duke in the kingdom Arcadia, and the lords of the land have come together to decide on who will replace King Isy the Big, who recently died in a suspicious gifting accident. As one of the prime candidates for the throne, finding his murderer will almost assuredly secure you position, not to mention remove one possible threat to your rule.
The senechal has gathered a list of the people who were seen in his court around the time of his untimely demise:
1. Queen @Luchaire "the pixie" who claims she was attending to the pet smurf, but the court gossip was that she was flitting around, wantonly throwing gifts at random passerbys
2. Marshal @Wooden Spoon who just received a comically large sword for locations unknown
3. Jarl @Viking, who was in talks with the king to do a raid on the enemy country of Wishlandia
4. The Royal mouser, Sir @todesbart who has taken to terrorizing the castle's staff with rodent "gifts" in the most unopportune places
5. A random @Drake who was accumulating shinies for his hoard (apparently we're not even trying to appear the least bit realistic any more)
6. Someone else...?

With an oversized pipe in his mouth, he casually points to @Drake out the window. Drake...is innocent. Him being a large dragon, could not possibly have fit into the room that the king was smash into.
*points* Jarl, the vicious, is by any definition of the word, not innocent, but did not do the deed. I have it from several eyewitnesses that he was burning an piliging a village by the coast, beheading people with sharp gifts the day of the murder.
*points* Marshal is not the killer. His gifting practices are known to all, and the gift currently on the kings head does not include his persistant references to spoons.
No...The killer was ...Queen Luchaire. If you look carefully, the queen here has wings. Yes she was seen gifting from afar, however the gift that hit the king on his noggin, was thrown with great force. Measurements show its exactly the force that would happen by dropping it from a height of 48 feet high and letting it reach its almost terminal velocity.
The Queen stands up and announces "YES. YES I gifted him to death. The bastard was always pushing the 'buy for myself' button'. The gifts he sent....I gave those gifts out of shame. I pretended they came from him to keep the scandle away from me but when he refused to put a gift copy in his basket during the summer sale, even at 99 cents each... I could no longer take it....He wasnt classy....he wasnt classy at all...*cries*
My job here is done. The king was a rite non-classhole. I declare this murder to be a suicide by unclassiness.

Completely taking me by surprise, today is my 5th anniversary of the Penny Arcade forums. You guys have been amazing and wonderful so I am going to give a couple of games away as thanks.
Dead Pixels
This is a great game to play with a friend in local co-op. Had my cousin come over and we had a blast slaying zombies and looking for loot. Would recommend using a controller.
Sequence
A music game in the style of DDR but with monsters and magic. Good music and story, well worth playing if you are a fan of music games. Controller basically required, would not use a dance pad though.
Sequence is amazing. It's worth playing for the unique experience of having to actually consider your ability to cast when kitting yourself out. Easy cantrips for a bit of damage you never mess up? One of the super-damage spells that you keep on fucking up but if you get it to work oh man? It's the best.
edit: also, I actually had a much easier time with a custom keyboard setup than a controller!

Think I'll snag Van Helsing when I get home. When broke I hadn't considered it and now that payday arrived suddenly many more games seem interesting. At least until I overspend in the first few days and scrounge by just barely until the next check. The cycle of Newell.
I'd like to know how they justify pricing a 15 year old game at $20?!? Like, I know it's a new release and all, but still. That seems ridiculous for a game that old. Deus Ex is only $7, Thief is $9, KOTOR and KOTOR2 are $10, and System Shock 2 is $10 (and that also just came out). There are a shitload of AAA class games released in the past 3 or 4 years that are all $20. That pricepoint really annoys me. That's Activision level of bullshit.
So... My bank went ahead and closed my credit card and is sending me a new one because they believe it was compromised...

Yes. It's a surprising amount of fun. For a sub-$10 ARPG, it's a win.
