Hello! We are strong like bull Jaeger rangers Sasha and Aleksis Kaidonovsky! We enjoy to punch monster.

0N1vF4s.jpg

We are pilot Cherno Alpha, who keeps motherland safe from monster for six year. SIX YEAR! Can you say same, capitalist pig-dogs?

Y1y4uLG.jpg

Capitalist pig-dogs ask us and Cherno Alpha and our rocket punch for help, so we help.

nCDcQuC.jpg

But more important, is us! Look at our hair. LOOK AT IT!

wGp6Vq3.jpg

We enjoy huddling in cold Siberian caves, collecting Kaiju teeth, and ravaging each other's bodies like rabid timberwolves.

moW1NGt.gif

Do you like dance? Dance, pig-dogs!

Here is fine article giving us proper credit for our hair and teeth. Read, then go watch us elbow drop monster!

B7ZyEJA.png

Seriously, LOOK AT OUR HAIR!

Bonus: Would you like to see the day that God blessed our ferocious coupling? Of course you would.

Rest assured, nobody within a two-mile radius slept that night.

@Kochi: Sorry that all of your friends hated it. And a lot of the theaters here are assigned seating too, and yes, we always get stupid Americans in our seats who get flummoxed and pretend they read their tickets wrong. :p

God I'm so excited to go watch this again after reading the last thread and the essay I linked and a bunch of other videos and stuff.

I'm barely gonna be listening to the dialogue or looking at the focal points, just gonna be looking for all the crazy detailed background shit.

I thought if they instead of building the wall they built things like the elementals out of battletech to overwhelm the Kaiju

    I kind of thought
That the Marshall was piloting the gen1 jagers by himself and was mentaling braking down

I have much more but sadly I saw this in the afternoon and just work back up

Oh, one question I did have...
When Pentecost decided to pilot Eureka with Aussie Jr., he made a comment about how he "was his father's son" so drifting with him wouldn't be a problem. Were those two partners at some point, or was he just implying that they knew each other really well?

Secondary to that, when shit's going down by the breach, Aussie Sr. gets on the PA and calls himself the Marshall. What's the deal with that? Did Pentecost appoint him next in line, or is there some Jaeger ranking system? I realize there might not be any solid answer to either of those, but they occurred to me when I was watching.

P.S. young Mako for actress of the year. I know 'scared crying little girl' isn't exactly Oscar material, but goddamn did she sell that shit.

Well, we know that Stacker was around since Gen 1 of the Jaegers, and that Herc has piloted every single generation, so the idea that they've drifted together works. Or even if they haven't, they've known each other long enough that drifting with someone who was just like him wouldn't be much of a challenge.

As for the second one, I think he was always sort of Stacker's second in command, and so while Stacker was out on what was likely a suicide mission, Hansen took over as Marshall.

a similar question about the same conversation
why didn't stacker bring in any memories or emotions to the drift?

is he just that the best? or is it because he's piloted jaegers by himself in the past?

  • EtchwartsEtchwarts Eyes Up Registered User regular
    I'd assume the former
The matter-of-fact way he said it made it sound like that was just the way he was, so don't bother questioning it

Oh, did they mention Herc had piloted all versions? I must've missed that (along with about a billion other details). I kinda figured he was Stacker's de-facto second in command, just cuz he was the oldest main character and no other characters seemed to fill that role officially. I think this is prolly gonna end up as my most-watched action movie behind, like, Jurassic Park just so I get get all those different details.

I also really love how the Russians use an asymetrical uniform.

Look at their pads, they have one huge shoulder pad with an intricate pattern, and one small one.

Even on their helmets, they have two lenses on one side and one lens on the other.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

But Hannibal Chau is the only reason the program is funded by the time of the main film. Hannibal Chau, snake oil salesman, the most capitalist of careers!

I guess the real monster was the 3,500 ton creatures that wanted to eat us all along.

Finally saw it yestersay. Very Silly, but just so much fun!
I would have really liked to see some more Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha instead of just being told how badass they were. Regardless of that when down it really got to me. Considering how little screen time both crews got, it shows how well that time was used.

The movie could have been an half an hour longer and I probably wouldn't have noticed. Time just went by so fast.

Was shown in the scroll on the news broadcast. Easiest thing to miss in a film full of easy to miss details. Also, Herc was in the council meeting with Stacker, and was the most veteran Ranger. Seems he had a leadership position of some sort.

Maybe, I just took it as a compliment to both the Hansens, since Herc (the father) is a veteran and his son took after him.

Also it's probably obvious to everyone who's watched the film, but their finest moment was
as Mako freaks out and is about to fire, everyone runs away. Except them, who decide that maybe they should leisurely stroll over there.

    Such a great character moment.

Yeah, I made brief mention of it in the last thread, but that little girl was fantastic. The genuine terror she was able to convey was enough to get me a bit choked up. One of the cons of being a dad, I guess. Stupid emotions making me feel stuff.

  • TransporterTransporter Registered User regular
    Yeah,
    The little girl was fantastic.

Especially since Del Toro is a mad god, and set up the entire set to SHAKE FOR REAL.

That probably helped her with that whole realistic fear thing.
