I can't wait to see someone try doing this to thrash metal.

I'm kind of surprised how tame the penalty for dropping a beat is, though. Do you really only lose your score multiplier? That makes doing nothing less punishing than acting and taking a hit, which seems backwards. I pictured the enemies moving every beat whether you act or not.
Well, score multiplier gets you more gold which gets you more stuff. From the looks of the rest of the Let's Play the game is hard enough as it is even if you ignore the beat mechanic.
I think it's already implemented. Well, I haven't tried it, but there's an interface for it.
EDIT: Oh, I guess I was wrong before. Enemies DO continue to act on their own if you sit around doing nothing. There's just an odd half-beat offset before they start.
This game is ridiculously fun. I'm surprised there isn't more buzz about it, I've really enjoyed my time with it so far. I've almost got level 3 beaten, and then I get to try to consistently beat hardcore mode. I still don't have any extra characters unlocked.

I started playing it one moment then stopped the next yet somehow 3 hours had transpired. I'm a slave to the rhythm.

I think most people are chatting about it in the Steam thread.
I think we should get a list of awesome custom music to play the game with. The developer said he originally wasn't planning on making a rhythm game, he just wanted a really fair roguelike. Then one day he had Thriller on while he was testing the game and realized how fun it was to try to match the character actions to the beat of the song.

I think a good place to start would be any other rhythm-based game's soundtrack. Pa Rappa, Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, DJMAX. Also anything with nonstandard timings can give you an added challenge. I noticed one of the Boss1's was a Rumba which was super fun to get in the groove with.
I don't usually like to buy early access games but this is pretty amazing. Reminds me a lot of Spelunky but I like that there's some persistent progression in there as well.
So apparently there's local coop in this game, too. Makes sense, with the rhythm enforcing when you must move. I'll have to try it out when I have some friends around.
Played a chunk of this tonight. Really good fun. Honestly my number one feature request would be a 'random' option for custom soundtrack selections. I just want a bunch of variety.

I think because A: it's not done enough and B: I think it was already Greenlit. The pre-purchase promises a Steam key.

Well, early access....that wasn't there earlier.
