I actually had a friend quit playing the gamecube version because of the regenerators, and wouldn't play RE4 untill the ps2 version came out. And went 2 hours into the games not knowing he could run.
Those things scared the living shit out of me until I figured the whole heat scope thing out. The I was all, " Pfft, not another one of these pussies. Hold on, let me get my sniper...". I was a cocky mother fucker.

O_o Regenerators were the best monsters in the game.
And don't people read game manuals? Oh right, this is the age of the Internet.
i don't own the game, but i usually borrow it. I was thinking of getting the wii version, but i would have to start all over again. I need advice.
If you don't mind traditional controls, PS2 version I feel is the best. It has all the same content of the Wii version, but with the classic RE-style control. The Dual Shock has always just felt right to me in terms of RE games.
Damnit, I ordered RE4Wii from Amazon.com (since I get free shipping with them) and they say it won't be in until June 24th. Fuck I've had nothing but trouble with them.

So this game ships today, and there are no non-import reviews yet? Is that strange, or have I just been too excited for this game and can't wait anymore?

This is my exact situation. For me, I am pumped I never really had the need to buy the original Gamecube version, because I borrowed my brother's copy. I played it front to back 6 times or so, and now I finally have an excuse to buy my own copy. I am so pumped for this. I am actually looking forward to starting all over again.
Yet another review that doesn't say anything about GC or CC support. I was sure it wasn't going to happen, but then there was that one review that said they were both an option, so I'm left to wonder. Of course, it shouldn't matter, as most seem to think the Remote and Chuk improve the game, but still. I'd like to know.
You don't use the GC controller by choosing it in the menu. It works when you turn off (unsynch) the Wiimote, so it's probably not something Ninty or Capcom were touting as a feature, so reviewers might not even be aware.
But in case you were wondering, apparantly you can use the classic controller or the GC controller if you wanted to (covered earlier in the thread, someone on NeoGAF tried it on the Jap version).
The EBGS in my area isn't putting this on the shelves till tomorrow.
My dogs at Target will probably hook me up tonight, as always.
Frosted, does Target typically release stuff early? I'd love to grab this tonight instead of tomorrow, though I know the retail date is 6/20.
Also, are we going to turn this into a [Game On]-type thread, or is there no real reason to? I mean... I played through RE4 2.5 times, but doing it again from the beginning, I'll probably be in the mood to discuss weapon upgrades and cash monies.

Yeah, Target in my area ALWAYS has stuff out early and it's always in stock. It's kind of hilarious when the stooges at EBGS laugh at you for not preordering whatever you wanted and you go next door to Target and it's sitting right there.

Aren't Game On threads for online games? Whatever the case, you know there will be plenty of discussion about how the controls affect the game, and what people think of this version. This thread would be the place for that, I would think.
Officially, yes, but I think it's a retarded distinction...you can talk about playing any game. If nothing else, we can talk about how the waggle holds up or doesn't in certain scenarios.

I didn't need a reason to buy a Wii until SSBB, but this is as good a time as any. 8-)

I read some on that in some british gaming magazine at my book store.
Apparently it's an entirely new game, but with similar characters, or some shit.

How so?
They're also the only one (so far) who says they don't improve the game. All the other reviews so far have praised them.

I would have thought the controls would make the game better.
Ditto. Everyone but Eurogamer thinks so too.
