Rayman Legends on Vita appears to be missing content - it has none of the invasion stages.

Ubisoft have yet to comment, but yeah, far from having all the content as promised. There's a GAF thread following this.

What are "invasion" stages and how much content does that mean?

I am really fucking passed off. Spelunky generated me a level that was impossible to progress in without a bomb for the first time I have played it. Real shit that, because I had something like 75k gold and the black market was even immensely easily accessible just to add shit into the wound!

Edit: Gotta say, Dark levels on the vita are just plain unfair. You can't see absolutely fucking anything unless the light is absolutely oerfect. I haven't got through a single one yet while out and about with variable lighting conditions.

It is not supposed to happen but very very rarely the algorithm fucks up. Nearly always because it puts a tiki trap over the one "clear" way to go and you can't progress. Tiki traps just suck

I have no idea what I'm doing in P4G, so much stuff to do, getting that good ol' RPG feeling of not knowing how to balance grinding with progress and seriously what is up with Fusions (or anything else in the Velvet Room actually?)

    Basically halp

Or tell me to chill and roll with it, leaving completion to the New Game+

Mostly the second bit yes. It is an amazing and weird experience the first time round. I played it completely without any idea what is was doing the first hours and it was fine :P

I would definitely save competionism to NG+, especially since you basically need each day planned out in order to fit everything into one playthrough. And there a bit of extra stuff that's only in NG+ or basically impossible to get on your first playthrough, so you will end up doing it anyway. Otherwise just screw around town and take the game in. Like I said, there's generally too much stuff to do in one playthrough anyway.

The Velvet Room is basically where you break the game. The Compendium lets you save your Personas and buy them back if you want them again. You'll probably end up doing this a lot, because among other reasons, you'll use Personas in Fusion to create better Personas. This consumes the Persona but you usually get something better (and you can see what it is beforehand). Generally, it's better to fuse or catch new Personas than it is to level up the old ones, so you'll probably get in a cycle of registering Personas so you have them at their best, and then using them as fodder for new fusions. Fusions have two variables: the level and strength of the Personas used in the fusion gives them more opportunities to inherit skills that they wouldn't normally get, and your S.Links determine how much bonus EXP the fused Persona gets. With bonus EXP and some engineered fusions, you can put together some pretty boss Personas.

Skill Cards teach a skill to a Persona, and you can use them on a Persona right away, but it's far better to instead give them to Marie, who will then sell you infinite amounts of the card for a price. It takes a while to get all of the cards, and some only come from specific Personas in a specific way (you'll learn what the icon means eventually), but the point is that having a shop of skill cards means you can put almost any skill on any Persona. It's expensive but extremely useful.

Specifically about grinding, you'll eventually start getting sidequests, many of which involve running around the old dungeons trying to get drops that only drop after you unlock the next dungeon, so there is eventually an incentive to retread the old dungeons. The old dungeons also get optional bosses that are tough for that point in the game, for more grinding opportunities.

Cool, thanks a lot bss :D

One other thing; are party members all mandatory parts of the storyline, or are any of them missable opportunities? And can I reasonably juggle a few friends around, maxing their S-links without really planning ahead or looking at a guide?

I don't see myself getting a Gold Chocobo boss hog Persona until my NG+ so fusions will probably be blind bag gropes for me at this point. :P

There are missable S-links, but all of your S-links for your main party members should be easy to do in one playthrough without a guide, as they are in predictable locations during a week. For maxing out ALL of the S-Links in one playthrough, it's pretty difficult to do without a guide, but that's probably best reserved for a second playthrough.

  • bssbss Brostoyevsky Madison, WIRegistered User regular
Indeed, but be aware that a couple party members won't be available for S.Links until you kick off an event with them that is triggered by talking to an NPC first. So if you ever feel like "hey, why can't I hang out with X", you probably need to talk to some people around town about X to kick off the event. The rest of the party members, though, will start as consequence of the plot.

If anything, on this first playthrough I'd focus on getting all your attributes (Courage, Understanding, etc.) maxed, because that carries over to NG+, and there are some amusing dialogue options that you can only get with those stats high at the start of the game. But even that isn't required to have a complete NG+.

Also, note that in the menu of the game (the one by hitting triangle), you have an S.Links category.

I didn't realize, stupidly, until I beat it and was playing Persona 3 Portable, that the damn menu actually tells you WHEN every one of your S.Links is available to talk to you.

I spent all of P4G wondering when and where to talk to certain people, and always thought that menu was just a quick look at how far along in each one you were. I had no idea if you click one it says "They're in the shrine on M, W and Su". It's super helpful. You have to activate the link with the first meeting on your own, but then it tells you.

Whelp, just went out and got my husband his own shiny new Vita. Wanted to play Dragon Crown with him and when Starbound comes out there'll be that. Plus I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 and when he decides to start playing Disgaea 3 I don't want to lose the Vita indefinitely again. Funny story, Best Buy discounted the Vita to the new price but not the memory cards. I had to pull up Sony.com and show them the new card price so they could price match it.

Not sure if joking, so just in case, "shrink" is the retail lingo for inventory or profit shrink, the key component being theft.

Soon, not quite yet though, I just got my latest issue. Though now that you mention it I don't think I ever got that issue either. I wonder if I can ask for a small discount on my renewal for missed issues.

Anyway I think any new subscribers or renewals for the last few months are automatically being signed up for digital without the option of print even being available while they phase out any current print subscribers.

Yeah, that sucks. I haven't got that mag in like 2 months, and it would have been nice to get a free game for my new WiiU. Best Buy can sometimes do awesome things, but then turn around and do 10 stupid things in a row. Yet I still shop there..

It depends on if you play the streetpass games/have a game that uses streetpasses. If you're playing something like Animal Crossing a large number of streetpasses from people also playing AC really enhances the game. Same for Monster Hunter. Sure, you aren't penalized for not getting them, but they're sure fun.

I think I'm the perfect niche consumer for the Vita (not that it isn't, in general, a completely awesome handheld). I'm primarily using it as a way to play all these improved remakes and awesome games I overlooked over the years. Portability really helps, I seem to do most of my gaming on the go nowadays. A side effect of being over 30, maybe?

I know people mentioned it on here earlier, but is Tokyo Jungle on PS Mobile worth picking up if you love the PS3 version? Or should I just remote play the PS3 version from bed, since, if that works, it would be amazing?

Rayman Legends on Vita appears to be missing content - it has none of the invasion stages.

Ubisoft have yet to comment, but yeah, far from having all the content as promised. There's a GAF thread following this.

What are "invasion" stages and how much content does that mean?

Oops, thought I'd responded to this already

The majority of the levels in the new worlds (ie not the levels from origins) have an "invasion" version, where enemies/obstacles from other worlds are put into it. They're basically speed run levels, where you have to complete them within 40-60 seconds. They're balls-hard though, probably the toughest content in the game.

They're not the most important content, but they're hardly throw-away content either - the levels are changed up quite a bit. Best way I can think to put it, imagine Origins without the chest runs.
