I bought a Vita to act as a compliment to my PS4, but this weekend I've put about thrice as much time into the Vita. The current PSPlus Vita lineup is all aces for me(I never knew a portable game could look as good as WipeOut 2048), and I'm interested in trying out Soul Sacrifice and Stranger's Wrath when they're rotated in. Throw in the PSOne classics(currently blazing through Ridge Racer Type 4, the peak of the series), the PSP games I've missed(LocoRoco, Dracula X Chronicles) and the ability to use it as a semi-portable PS4(that works surprisingly well) and I think I'll getting a lot of use out of this beautiful little OLED screened bad boy.
Some random things:
- Much more comfortable than the 3DS. I've done some pretty long sessions, and no cramps so far.
- "SIM not provisioned MM#2" What does this mean?
- I can only receive messages every 15 minutes? That's going to make text conversations inconvenient.
- Peeling off apps and games with a is so satisfying.
- Does the system give you a proper warning when you're about to run out of power? I've kept mine charged so far so I wouldn't know. Text on the screen? The PS button turn red? Something?
- Christ this 4GB card isn't going to to cut it.

"SIM not provisioned MM#2" - You've picked up a 3G Vita I assume? It means the SIM card hasn't been activated. You get this on mobiles too.
You get messages more frequently if the app is open, otherwise you're stuck.
When your battery hits a fairly low level the battery indicator turns red and you'l get a prompt on screen telling you the battery is low.
Who else is buying Tearaway this Friday? Because you should and if you don't, I hope you feel bad!
Tearaway is Friday? Damn you sony, too much too fast!
And let me just second that Remote Play is a system seller for the Vita. I had a Vita in the early days when there were "no games" and I sold it. Once I knew I was going PS4 this gen, and that it so thoroughly supported remote play, I went out and bought another. I can say in no uncertain terms it. is. worth. it.
I spent Sunday watching NFL football on my big screen in my gameroom while playing PS4's Madden (and Resogun) on my Vita. You can't beat that.
If it came out last friday I could've gotten it even cheaper through work with a double discount thingy. As it stands, £20 is a bit much to spend on something I don't need. And right now, it's pretty much only essential purchases.
Wow, that Vita LTE video. Maybe not ideal for something frenetic and reflex-based like Resogun, but... For the inevitable PS4 XCom? For turn-based RPGs and strategy games? Miles from home? So awesome.
FFVII: Crisis Core isn't available for Vita play? Lame.
Never released on PSN. Same with Kingdom Hearts BBS.
edit: Sony just announced NA release date for FFX|X2 HD. March 18 2014 for PS3. No mention of Vita at all. fuuuuuuuuuuuu
The fuck?? I thought that shit was releasing in December for the Vita. I'm going to be SO pissed if it doesn't hit the Vita.
December (26th) is the Japanese release date. The only thing they'd ever said for NA was "Winter", so there's your Winter release date. Edit: actually, maybe they said this year forever ago, but that slipped a while back.
There will be a minor riot if Square Enix doesn't localize the Vita version. The PS Blog post announcing the PS3 date was quickly inundated with questions about the Vita version. Joystiq has updated their news, according to SE Europe, "Full details of the PlayStation Vita version and release timing will be revealed at a future date." so who knows what's going on there, but at least they're not pretending it doesn't exist.

I read somewhere that PS+ does make money for some of the game developers, not sure if Tearaway would be one of those or not
Third parties do (as well as other benefits, like using it to promote themselves or their franchise) but Media Molecule are owned by Sony, so they wouldn't get a cent out of it.
Well, "getting money" is kind of nebulous without knowing the exact situation under which the game was funded and priced. Surely first party games aren't just money black holes.

That LTE video makes me happy. Happy I have a ps4 and a vita and also happy I have an android that I can tether 4G to my mobile devices. Now I can take my vita with me to peoples house and not miss any gaming at all. Or watch tv and play console games. This magic is full of win
Now I just need an epic turn-based RPG to hit for PS4 so I can take my Vita with me and play it anywhere!
I don't think they make those for consoles anymore.
Gust, NIS and Compile Heart disagree.
Though the wind seems to be changing direction towards RPGs for handhelds instead - which is not necessarily a bad thing.
It's been going that way since the DS and PSP. Most JRPGs, turn-based or otherwise, are on handhelds now.
Yeah but the whole reason that's happening is because it's easier for a lot of people to play a game that runs 30-200(NIS) hours if they can pick it up and put it down whenever they want compared to camping out in front of their TV all day. I probably would have been more likely to tolerate a console RPG if the remote play wasn't shite on PS3.
With the PS4's remote play being made of unicorn rainbows hopefully there will be an increase in console RPG sales and we'll see more.

Square's announcement of the release date mentions that Vita details are to be announced at a later date. So, it's probably going to see the rumored digital only release.
Certainly. FFX|X2 are just too big to comfortably settle on the Vita. Japan is getting the game in physical form, with both games in the same package on separate Vita game cards.
It's unfortunate, but I'm going to get suckered into buying both no matter what. Principles and all that, but if X/X-2 don't sell on the Vita because of Digital-Only, Squeenix will just go "OH WELL GUESS WE DON'T HAVE TO SUPPORT THE VITA" and merrily fuck off to mess everything else up.

How will I split my time between this and Zelda!? busy time of year. After PS4 I really need to take a game buying vacation.
I want to know more PA people on Twitter.
The pessimist in me says I could wait a few weeks and find it way cheap, I imagine it's gonna be a short one off playthrough.
...even bigger pessimist says it'll be on PS+ before March :P

I wouldn't be surprised if it's PS3/Vita, given how well Golden did.

Granted. It is them we're talking about after all. But at least we can say we tried to make FFXII HD (and other stuff) a thing.
