Also for those asking about 4 day pass I did have a four day. Jerry did confirm I could attend all four days and stay late Monday but they didn't specifically ask if I had a four day pass
I just hope that happy hour isn't during the TWDT.
Very, very few bars will still have happy hour late enough in the evening to conflict with the TWDT. Those that do prolly wouldn't be exactly... comfortable.
HOLY CRAP! I got one of the calls about an hour ago (had to go drink a beer to calm my nerves!). Hello to my fellow Omeganauts and good luck (we'll all need it!).
And to Tycho, sorry if I sounded so stupid on the phone, I was in complete shock the whole time! (And when I asked you to repeat it, I had a coworker listening because he never would have believed me!)
My husband -- @hestenet on twitter, CountofAngels on the forums -- texted me at work today to say "I'm an Omeganaut, I just talked to Jerry" and it turned out he was not messing with my head. If we are in Seattle early enough for the happy hour thing he is in.

I am down with the Happy-Hour if it doesn't conflict with the Pre-Dinner. I am also cool with the breakfast since my body is used to being up by 6...thank you work. Give me coffee and you will not be harmed.

Yah, I have a bit of a drive to get into the city each day but I would be willing to make it work for breakfast. Happy hour sounds super amazing but at this point I am gonna be lucky to make it out of Eugene by noon, which means I hit Seattle around 6-7. Either way, it should be a pretty amazing weekend.

Running a happy hour at the exact same time as the TWDT would be like covering yourself in cuts and throwing yourself into a school of piranha.
Former Omeganaut tip for this year's crew:
Don't worry about trying to train or anything like that until the game list comes out. You're only gonna give yourself a headache and potentially set yourself up for disappointment once the game list finally does come out. Afterall, playing Quake 3 with a gamepad on the off chance that a shooter shows up in the list because they have in the past only to find out that the games are all laid back affairs will only end with this face being made irl:
Yes, I did that, and yes I felt like an idiot for it. Though on the plus side my gamepad aim got really good afterwards.

I hope everyone else takes this advice so I will have a few extra days to train for the Hungry Hungry Hippos round.
I haven't heard back yet from the bar where I'm trying to reserve an event space, but their happy hour is 3:30-6:30pm. This will be very casual, so anyone who has something else going on could totally leave early. It's just a chance for us all to meet before we're pitted against each other in the virtual death match. If I get this space, we'll have room for plus ones and last year's Omeganauts. It's within walking distance of the Convention Center, too. Hey, is anyone under 21? I didn't want to exclude people, but I couldn't imagine you'd all want to meet for a 6am breakfast and this was my best alternative.

I think I missed my chance to be an Omeganaut! Yesterday I had a missed call on my phone from an unknown number 20 minutes after this thread first went up! I never have calls from unknown numbers ever! Maybe next year

This will be on Thursday, right?
Yes. Regardless of venue, it'll be late afternoon/evening on Thursday, 8/29.

w00T! Yup, that's my twitter handle, and here's my own post. I guess after five years of lurking I'll have to post a bit now?

A get together sounds like fun! As my wife noted, we'll be driving up on Thursday so it's not totally clear when we'll make it in (depends on being able to take off from work early) - but if we're there in time we're in.

Late is totally fine. Like I said, this is casual. = )
Looks like I won't know for sure whether we have the space reserved till Aug 15. Everyone cross your fingers and plan on a 3:30 - 6pm happy hour, Thursday, Aug. 29! I'll keep you posted.
What is the omegathon? I figure its a video game challenge against each other is it a 1 night session?

Aw! So cute!
It's throughout the time of PAX--I am assuming all four days--and challenges of games of ALL sorts (video, mobile, board, card, social, carnival, but hopefully not Hunger) where each challenge knocks off two(I think two...or four?) Omeganauts until there is just two.
The closing ceremony, one could say, of PAX is the final round. It's a mystery to the Omeganauts and the public until the curtains are drawn. In the end, one will win and the other will come back for the following year to be in the Omegathon.

Oh okay I see, might have to put my name in for next year if I am able to land pax tickets
So you don't submit your name - the contestants are selected from all registered attendees who agreed to be in the pool when they bought their tickets. At East one year, there was a guy who didn't know what it was when he was selected and decided he 'didn't feel like doing it' - so he gave up his spot. (?!?)
They say that selection is random but with @Zerzhul competing this year, I have to agree with @EvilBadman.

Hooray! My flight gets in late that morning, so I was worried about all this breakfast talk.
