Lets hear it, which one is your favorite? For me, its soul Calibur 1, me and my brother used to have endless Rock Vs Asteroth battles, determined to prove that one was better than the other.
Sou Calibur 2 is awesome as well, but I couldnt believe it didnt have Rock in it!?!? COME ON! I know it had Berserker, but he's lame... Soul Calibur 3 was "seriously wounded, but the soul still burns!"
Soul Calibur III was undeniably the weakest of the series, but I've been having a lot more fun than I really ought to with the Create-a-Character function. I do hope that they keep that around for SC4.
I'd have to say that the first one was my favorite, but then again, SC2 had Link!
Oh, and SC2 had Rock in it. He's down at the bottom row, wearing the weird mask and going by the name of Berzerker.

HOBO KNIGHT IN A THONG VS HITLER RENAISSANCE NINJA
If soul calibur 4 ends up going multi-plat (which I am sure it will), and if they end up doing exclusive characters for each system like they did with SC2. I hope Kratos from God of War is the PS3 representative. He is such a bad ass.
I am sorry I digressed in the topic in my previous post. I have to go with SC2 being my favorite one. Raphael is a monster in the hands of a good player
Yeah, I'm going to have to say two. Strange as it sounds I just like the way the GC controller works for the SC series. Link wasn't too much of a draw, but I have to admit that it was super easy to get ring outs with him which is how I got through 90% of the weapon master segment. I am also a huge Raphael fan because I'm a fencer and a lot of his stuff is pretty accurate. I like one a lot still, and I never really played three, but two is my pick.
So, just for fun, if it goes multiplatform -- who would the bonus characters be?
360: The Chief? Ryu Hayabusa?
Wii: Mii? Link again? Samus?
PS3: Kratos? An FF character?
Never Hayabusa. The DOA guy (what was his name again?) hates the Soul Calibur series.
And I doubt the Wii would get a port, although 360/PS3 is a shoe-in. Either that or the other way around. But I don't think we'll be seeing too many games on both the Wii and the 360 and PS3 this gen.

Itagi? That would probably come from his own fighting franchise.
I would guess a Spartan, probably like the one in DOA, or we'll get Marcus from GOW, and possibly one of the Agents from Crackdown.
No, it's not that. Itagi loves the shit out of Virtua Fighter. He doesn't like Soul Calibur. I don't have the quotes on hand, but he really made fun of it in a bunch of interviews.
Anyway, they also tried at least a little bit to have the bonus characters fit in, so I don't think we'll see anyone from GOW. Unless you mean Kratos, that is.

Samus would be awesome! Would be cool if they put the Gears of war guy in it for the 360 port.... OOOh baby!! His victory tag line can be "Walk it off pussy"
Link was cool, and im totally glad he was in it, but I reckon spawn was a better soul cailbur character.
Hadn't thought about putting Fenix in the 360 version.
Wouldn't he need a hand to hand to fight with? Did they have a knife or anything in that armor?
No he does not need a hand to hand weapon as the playstation character, forget his name, from tecken didnt have a weapon at all either, and it worked fine.

Hayashi or something.
Just give phoenix his fists, damnit!

Which makes me wonder just how the hell a Mii would get in there (it was brought up).
"BOB was a contented soul, spending his days in the famed Mii Plaza. Then one day, a giant hand descended from the heavens. BOB tried to escape, flailing wildly, but he was at the hand's mercy. Fucking right. Also, Talim rocked.
SC3 pissed me off in too many ways. Talim got weak, Raphael got more awesome, but there were so many bugs and imbalances it just made me want to hurt children. Between launching people out of the ring from the center, to infinite juggles, to making guard impacts 100% useless, the game was totally broken.
It'd come out optimized for the system and not like total ass.
That would be the best option, but it would also cost the most money.
But think how much money it would make, as it would be the definitive fighter for Wii until SSBB. Tourneys and all, as it could attract more with an exclusive character, as Link did.
Given that each character should be using a melee weapon to be more fitting:
Wii: Link, Ness (grown up?), a Fire Emblem character?
360: Marcus Fenix (Chainsaw), Master Chief (plasma sword)
PS3: Kratos, Wander
Bonus choice: Izzy Sparks from Guitar Hero 2.
Also, Soul Calibur on the DC takes the prize, only being challenged by SC2 on the cube with link.
Did anyone play Soul Blade? I played it once, but only AFTER playing soul calibur, and as such, i thought it sucked total ass...
I never played Soul Calibur III, I refused to ever play it, buy it, support it, because it was a PS2 only title. What the hell Namco? What the hell....

THough it really was a stupid idea, it's not entirely bad. The create of fighter is pretty deep...once you unlock all of the fighting styles and items of course through their shitty RTS/RPG/Fighter side story thing.

Note: Playing single player, multiplayer, and using $ earned from those things = not having to play the Tales of Sword mode. There is also the amount of time actually playing the game too.
I hadn't played any of them up until 4 days ago. I bought 3 from gamestop, brought it home, invited a couple friends over and had a blast. Now i have to go out and buy 2 because it is much better?

Damn shitty sequels. Damn them all.
Soul Calibur 3 is a good game. It has more characters, soecial features, create-a-character, awesomeness, etc....etc.. Some people are griping that some characters play different and the fighting system is a little different. If 3 is the first one you played, the other one's will not be as good, IMO.
You have to have liked something previously, to be really upset that it was changed. If you and your friends are just casual fighting gamers, you will get a great experience from SC:3. If you are somewhat anal about how the game is played, then you will have a problem.
To piggy-back off of what most people stated about Kratos being in the PS3 version. I think that as far as storyline goes. That would be PERFECT as far as sophitia, and cassandra are concerned seeing as how the greek gods, and goddesses are alive and well in the same time frame that soul calibur is taking place. Kratos as the new god of war could want soul blade for his own evil intentions, only to have his efforts halted by sophitia, and cassandra. Well. What do you think?

To unlock all of the fighting styles though, you had to level up each character class to a certain point through the RPG mode though. It also earned the most spending money for the shop.

I don't see why 3 is getting such flak.
It's a quality v. quantity thing. SC2 (and SC1 for that matter) had a more balanced character roster and more attention to each individual character. Plus SC2 had better graphics than SC3. SC3 had every character anyone could ask for, plus a custom character maker, just to make sure you didn't get bored with the roster, ever, and game balance played a backseat to that. But then, if I wanted a Serious Balanced Competitive Serious Fighting Game, I'd be playing Virtua Fighter anyway. Soul Calibur has always been there for button-mashing fun.

You could unlock fighting styles by playing as that class for a certain number of fights in multiplayer, instead.

I guess you are right. I love the whole buying new weapons feature. And the fact that they are not just cosmetic.
Although, i have a really hard time telling what the little icons mean in regards to the weapons. I know that they are stats of some sotr, but i dont fully get what they mean.

Become friends with GameFaqs. It will help you out in the long run, the game itself never explains.

I like the balance though. I hate feeling like somebody is beating me just because the charecter is broken. And i am not into the whole create a charecter thing. I mean, it must be awesome for some people, but i feel like there is no charecter i can create that is as cool as say, an undead pirate. Or Nightmare.

At any rate, i still like 2d better.
Guilty Gear FTW
I can beat anyone, with anyone. I always random it out anyway, unless I really am going up against someone tough. If you get good with a certain character, it isn't like some guy can come in as Asteroth and Maxi is fucked. Talim can beat Nightmare....etc...etc. A lot of it depends on the players involved. Balance issues will not become a problem unless you have many people getting extremely good at the game mechanics.

Im pretty decent at the game, can holdmy own against most people with any character, BUT if you ever come across someone who has perfected Ivy, then my friends, its game over. Damn that sword, damn it to hell!

FIGHT!
I don't care that I'm a shameless Zelda fanboy, it's just how it is. If Link wasn't in the game, my interest level would have been zero.

I didn't know Itagaki hated SC.
Also: Wii version would look as good if not better than the GCN one, and you could play it with a classic pad or a Gamecube pad.
I don't see why they'd get the shaft.

I can't imagine it's easy to port games from the Wii to the 360/PS3, or vice versa. There's a big power disparity there.

My ninja William Shakespeare aptly named: Billy Shakes, dominated all that was good and pure.
