Alrighty, I was thinking maybe there was some additional completion bonus that I was missing. Resource nodes feel odd; there doesn't seem to be too many, enough that I can already remember where most are as I wander. I do like that I can hit a node and someone else can as well.

I am afraid to use the bday boost.

To me the best part of it is the exp. But at the same time, I wonder if I should use it for WvW because that will also give me a boatload of karma.

There is also the fact that because its 24 hours of in game time, I will feel pressured to never play that character unless its 100% productive time.

WvW will give you xp, wvw xp, AND karma. It's good shit.

There is that a I guess. I do not feel all that confident bringing in pre 80s though. Especially because its hard to really succeed at things that give exp with them.

Though those yellow mobs no one ever kills are some serious exp.

Actually now that I think about it, going into EB with a killstreak boost, exp boost, and bday boost might be a little bit insane.

Alright so I'm wrapping up the download.

I think I'm going to delete all my characters and walk back into a clean slate.

EDIT: It appears I'm not in the guild anymore. That makes sense. Can I get an invite for drkeenbean.5064?

Dispatch from the Department of Bad Ideas:

    Berserk

A new Condition. The functional opposite of Fear, it compels the victim to run in a straight line toward the condition's source character, compulsively using any available weapon skills, preferring those with the lowest cooldown (auto-attack takes the lowest priority).

Skills canceled as a result of receiving Berserk do not count as being interrupted.

Predominantly the province of Soldiers, though Mesmers also get heavy usage out of it. (The idea came to me as a means of countering people who know how to not attack while Confused).

    Possible Mesmer changes:
Mantra of Pain: Cooldown increased to 25 seconds (5 between uses). Inflicts two seconds of Berserk when cast.
Confounding Suggestions (Domination 30 trait): Changed to read "Any time you would inflict Dazed, inflict one second of Berserk instead."
    Illusionary Berserker: Is always Berserk.

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

Man, GW2 has ruined other mmos for me.

All my IRL friends are very hype for FFXIV ARR, so I got it too to play with them abit. God I am bored out of my mind. The game is pretty enough, but it's combat bores me to tears and after getting so used to GW2's heart system I can't be bothered to do regular mmo style quests. I don't think I'm going to be able to hang with my IRL buddies in that one. :( Then again other than GW2 and the upcoming Star Citizen, I'm feeling pretty /done with mmos altogether.

Yeah, I should have listed EQN on there too. It's combat looks fun like GW2's and the whole super dynamic world + minecraft terrain thing sounds awesome. Quite a ways off though.

    Guys sab is coming back!

Oh and this was in the release notes for it.....
Craft Ascended Weapons: New recipes and materials will be hidden around the world, and a new skill cap of 500 will be introduced for the Weaponsmith, Artificer and Huntsman crafting disciplines. Players crafting their way to 500 will become Grandmaster Crafters and can learn the secrets of crafting Ascended weapons.
Legendary Weapon Updates: Legendary weapons will receive a stat boost, an Offensive Infusion slot to align with new Ascended weapons and additional functionality, among other things.
Account-Wide Magic Find: Magic Find will be removed as an equipment stat and implemented as an account-wide bonus applied to all of a player’s characters.

How'd you break it down into manageable goal chunks?

I tried to do something similar, hit a couple mountains and just sort of said, "ehhh... that's too much time away from pvp to do a lot of that."

I hope this means the materials and recipes are actually out in the world and not some dungeon you need to grind.

I really hope it's possible to create one of these weapons without doing dungeons.

Going to ask for opinions here:

I find myself in a quandary regarding GW2. I log in and play it for a couple of hours, all the while loving the maps, exploration, and flow of the game itself.

Problem is, I do that for a couple of nights and then typically just don't play it again for a month or more. At this point, I'm inclined to think my lack of being pulled into the game is due to choice of profession. I've got my Thief to 35, but I have collected as much XP from non-fighting actions as fighting.

This forces me to think that the play style of the Thief profession just isn't drawing me in enough to keep me interested beyond a couple of evenings of play.

So, I'm inquiring to see if anyone has a suggestion for another profession that might seem more suitable given that I'm forming the opinion that Thief is just not my cup of tea. If anyone has a brilliant thought or suggestion, I'd love to hear it.

    Thanks

I think they mentioned some of the places you might get ascended crafting mats were at places like jumping puzzles and open world mini-dungeons.

At the risk of being vague, I'm almost at a loss to explain what feels so lacking about it. It feels like the play style is spastic and uneven (which, yes, could simply be a poor selection of skills on my part, but I have yet to pick a combination that feels great). I never get a good rhythm going with my Thief that keeps my going from pack-to-pack to keep a good round of battles going.

(One could possibly say I'm just being distracted by cool stuff in the periphery too, but I can safely say that I do not actively go looking for battles with my Thief because it just isn't satisfying.)

I'll throw this out there: I suppose I'm looking for a profession that has skills that build on one another or compliment each other more so than what I've seen in the Thief profession (or if you feel I'm probably just being an idiot with my Thief, feel free to be blunt and say so :P )

Apologies if I'm still obtuse, but I figure someone out there may have had a similar lacking experience with the Thief profession and may have suggestions for a more interesting profession based on such experience.

From what you are saying i would say that maybe the Elementalist would be your cup of tea. It's a more complex play style with a lot of intricate skill interactions.

But I have a level two theif in my rotating character slot that I could delete in a moments notice so I can't really compare it directly.

Bad news : some wvw guilds are leaving for other servers

good news: we may drop down in rank and get more fun wvw vs mega zergs.

More bad news- That process may be painful.

Haven't played since fractals came out, they weren't the impetus for me leaving I just burned out on the game about that time.

Had a blast last night running around killing clockworks, I guess i had a rifle build previously with tons of precision/power, messing around with a flamethrower build now and having fun with it. Holy crap the 2 skill actually hits hard now.

Think i'll pickup some exotic pistols though for zerging clockworks.

Once I figure out what my full id is i'll ask for a guild invite tonight, i'm on maguuma still so I figure If 'm still playing in a few weeks i'll pony up for a transfer.

HL which was a major havoc guild. They had Archer of fatalis who was a savant at siege. Just a wizard. Another small guild or two.

We did get a transfer in from somewheres tho. Seems folks are taking a bleak outlook of the server but I think this PvE evenet rains so much loot everyone is doing that vs WvW. SAB will not pull as many away

Ah dang, sorry to hear the HL guys are leaving, I've had a couple of really successful roams with some of their members.

Now that I think about it, It's kind of surprising how few roamers there have been lately. I guess it is the pve events drawing people away. I used to be able to log in during the day and find some good fights here and there, mostly all I do now is cap a couple camps and lose interest.

The alarmist will say its dissension and annoyance with being the best of the servers without one mega guild, but not good enough to deal with TC/JQ/bigger servers due to this. So some folks are considering leaving.

The rational will tell you its the damn loot fest. The week prior we had plenty of coverage. Clockwork drops and its a PvE zerg...... That will leave with sab and life will go on.

Have you tried Dagger/Dagger with the thief? I leveled mine with a primarily stealth/bleed build based on death blossom (that jumping, spinning attack) and dodging/stealthing/stealing/being a pain to kill. I could handle 3-4 mobs at a time and it was like a ballet, herding them in circles as I dodged and spun around and over them while they bled to death.
