Dredge are immune to blind, so classes, like thieves and their Black Powder ability, hate dredge.

As I mentioned the other day during a Fractal run, I actually quite like the Dredge fractal. It's not too long, has some neat mechanics, and it's just kinda fun. For my money, worst fractal is Svanir fractal.

Until you can get all the traits and conjures and what not people are talking about, since they're all tier 3 or level 40...

Scepter/dagger. You can fire 2, fire 4, fire 3, earth 4, earth 5 = 12 might combo then if anything is still alive fire 5 and air 1,2,3 spam with 12 might will fix that. You can get more might than this if you work at it and stack properly (or use arcane wave), but fire by itself will destroy most mobs.

Use flame axe and/or ice bow until you get hammer cos they got buffed huge. ice bow 4 is the elementalists most powerful aoe, bar nothing, second to no skill. The King. Tier 1. SSS level. Try it.

I used to do a ton of these like 7 months ago and started them up again. I enjoyed most of the fractals, but sometimes there's some parts of each that make life more difficult without the usual feeling of success after you finish it when you get to 10-19 or 20-29 etc.

For Dredge, the center switchboard used to have it so you could only have 4 of you in there, and 3 have to be doing something specific whether two standing on the side switches and one at the control board. Even with the spy kits, this was fairly difficult. Lots of rage quitting in this one from previous experience.

For Cliffside, the breaking point used to be the arms or shoulder seals, where you have to alternate. If you only charge the hammer on one side while keeping one cultist alive, things work out well. Otherwise, you run around and get 25 stacks of vulnerability on you from the cultists and things go south quickly. There was, for a while, various bugs with the end boss too, from his white light thing pretty much instantly downing you to the cultist adds never going away and when you got the hammer, it just spawned even more of them.

The only frustrating part of the Uncharacterized fractal is the AE knockback that all harpies get from 10+.

All in all though, I think fractals are good as you can usually get some decent loot/exp from it, along with eventually getting the chance for free ascended ring drops and the tokens to outright buy a ring with stats of your choice. You can also use the relics to buy 20 slot boxes.

Something else to add, when fighting enemies with lots of projectiles use scepter focus instead of scepter/dagger. It's less outright damage, but air 4 on focus is a massive anti projectile bubble that you can throw up and then you have several seconds to set up a devastating aoe combination on the enemy, heal yourself, or bring out a conjure and do a conjure combo or aoe on them. The possibilities of invulnerability against ranged mobs are essentially infinite.
Being able to just go lol nope and pop earth 5 invulnerability for four seconds is also pretty handy.

If you are having trouble with scepter it's probably because you aren't kiting. It's a kiting weapon. If your camera rotation is set to default I recommend upping it a bit.

This is a fantastic breakdown especially the last half which is some recording of running with Nocturnal and has a breakdown of everything important he chooses to do and why. That last half is one of the better tutorial videos for playing a spec in large scale pvp I've seen.

Incidentally that spec will be unchanged in the upcoming patch where they are tweaking, well, everyone. You'll just be taking a few of those traits in a different tier than before. But I checked, and it'll still be possible to get all of them in the end.

Whaaaaa superior sigil of energy activates on attunement swap? I had no idea.

Swap sigils work with Engi kits as well, and no swap is faster or more readily available than an Engi kit swap.

The more I think about it, I should've taken the portal with you and the spawn-camping-hating-golem-named-roy so I could throw down a hammer circle and try to hold a few more guys in it for your spin.

I have no complaints though, I was with the first few charging in and I rallied several times.

So my intro did not go unheard! Roy was a badass.

Honestly it looked like they wanted to move 2 feet from me and restack... but i could double roll to them. They were way more worried over the ground troopers. Which was fine with Roy.

lets hope we never need roy "the spawncamping hater" omega robut again.

Also drigan (hope) is getting shit(praise) from the enemy about them watching us wipe and not helping.

I earth shakered in there right after mojo ported. they all turned to react to the robut run rampant and never saw the mouse comin. I don't think ever went down and i filled my inventory and got a level off of that fight. I'm not sure how many there were, but my hammer must have kissed every one of them at least once.

How demoralizing must an encounter like that be? "OK guys we are gonna go force a big open field fight with siege and farm FA for bags." And the first time NICE shows up they are slaughtered nearly to the last man in one push.

The first "last stand" at hills was beyond amazing too. we really had no business holding against that many with how few resources we had.

I would humbly request that when you do guild events like that, you communicate in guild chat.

I had no idea anything was actually happening, and the time I had available was spent dicking around waiting for something to happen while something was happening.

Ok, man. No need to talk down to me like that.

Just trying to let you know that a little more communication would be nice. Not everyone can be on TS at all times (or at all), but would like to participate.

Edit: And it's stuff like "We're queued for <BL>, but in <BL>!" or "We're all going to <Another BL>! Catch up with us there!"

I rarely see more than 1-2 mentions in guild chat at best regarding the WvW nights, but it's every Monday and Friday for sure. Other times would simply be a group wanting to head out together.

The location is variable on Mondays, but usually we'll find out in advance here (forums) what we'll be going into for Friday night.

  • ArdorArdor Registered User regular
When I can make the WvW nights, I can volunteer to be a scout, since I've already gotten my season 1 key. I'll remind you in guildchat or TS when I make it in.

  • Anon the FelonAnon the Felon In bat country.Registered User regular
Yeah, I knew there was a thing. I knew the approximate time.

So I started surfing the BL's (since my first two information requests went unanswered), stumbled upon the group about the time some one said something. Then right as we were rolling out, everyone vanished. I then learned everyone was queued for some other BL which had a 15+ minute queue, which isn't that big a deal... Except I hadn't been queued for it like everyone else. So I was just standing around looking like an idiot when I only had a little while.

It's just a little frustrating, and something which can be stopped by being more communicative. Or don't and that's how it works, but then you have to deal with people getting frustrated.

  • mojojoeomojojoeo A block off the park, living the dream.Registered User regular

So, the weekly guild schedule is posted in the Guild MOTD in-game (sadly, it's the best in-game resource we have ANET GIVE US A CALENDAR ALREADY SHEESH), and out of game it's in the OP of this thread and on the Guild Tumblr. There's actually a Google Calendar that we try to keep up to date with guild events, but it's always got our weekly regular stuff and we add any one-time or special things we're doing. We try to advertise these things in guild chat also, especially Missions, but we could definitely use more Wuv advertising (Wuvertising?)

@mojojoeo - Do you start earlier on Monday than advertised? If so, we should change the calendar/schedule to reflect that. Also, Wuv starts earlier now on Fridays also due to time change last week--another change we need to reflect. Let's get that straightened out so we can all get together and murder people as a FAMILY. :)

    - Soulbound permanent gathering tools can be exchanged at a Black Lion Weapons Specialist for account-bound versions. Players must unequip the tool before exchanging it.
    - All future permanent gathering tools from the Gem Store will be account bound and will cost slightly more than the soulbound versions.

So happy to hear this. Been asking for this since forever, there is no reason they shouldn't be account bound.

That second change though. $10 for a single account-bound unlimited use gathering tool is too little? What the heck.

"Official" monday WvW started at the same time, but a bunch of us started running around killing stuff before that.

The queues on FA are a relatively new thing. It used to be just EB and maybe one borderlands maps that was queued, now it's common for three of four maps to be queued and for one or two of the queues to be hella long. I thought maybe PvE'ers were coming on for the meta achievement and they'd filter out, but they're either still here, or we got bandwagon transfers, or both, or something.

What's more our opponents can usually only have a decent-size force on one or two maps at a time, so everyone goes there to find fights. And it'll probably be like this next week, too, when we go up against Ebay (again) and Crystal Desert.

I play later hours than most of the wuvwuv crew (I don't even get home from work until 7PM server time) and I simply got tired of asking if there was wuv going on and getting cricket noises in return. I always (try to) answer any guidchat questions about wuv, because I know how lonely it can be if you're not on for the guild events.
