Quick question.
I've searched the cartel market, and I can't find any unlock that allows you to get lockboxes as quest rewards if you're not a subscriber. Is there such an unlock?

The lockbox thing is one of the more bizarre restrictions. It's very arbitrary and just says "yeah we just ran through the game code looking for shit we could break for filthy freeloaders".
Fucking Dromund Kaas general chat. People were taking film and TV show names and replacing a word with Jawa. I initially dismissed it as the dumb stuff you normally see in any general chat. However, I decided to take a break when they were still doing it 15 minutes later.

It can't be worse than fleet chat imperial side.

Yeah, that happens. Used to be it was, like, 11 pm or something was semi-official "Jawa hour".
I'm starting to become very torn over the Zash-Khem affair. It's Khem's body, and after what Zash tried to do my feelings were resoundingly that I should work to get Zash out of Khem.
But Zash is incredibly helpful. Khem... isn't.
Khem eats your enemies. How do you get more helpful than that?

I had to screencap this. This might be the most amazing win I've had in PVP so far:
Look at the kill count of our team versus the other team. They were a premade. Their DPS ripped us apart, and their healer did almost twice the healing ours did. We got the grass turret before they got snow, and for more than half the match we just kept them from capping mid. But I saw an opportunity, ran to the turret and started capping. I was sure they would see me, but they didn't. It was glorious.
When I join a group the arrow above my targeted enemy's head goes away and I'm left with only the barely visible red foot ring to try and figure out who I have targeted.
What causes this and how do I fucking kill it with fire.
It makes me want to never group, frankly.
It doesn't even come back when I leave the group, I have to re-log.

I can never recall having this problem. Does it only happen in 4- person groups, or does it happen in ops groups too?
Unfortunately re-logging is the only way to fix it. Helpfully, logging out of the game automatically makes you quit any group you're in.

If you alt+f4, it'll leave you in the group, same as an internet hiccup.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Troll roll is just as awesome as I thought it would be.
It's a sprint with no cooldown. How good is that? FANFUCKINGTASTIC.
[edit] My op seriously just went from an okay to play alt to my favorite character. All specs just benefit tremendously from roll. It's crazy.
Confession: I haven't done ANY pvp in TOR. How is it?
I leveled as Concealment and it feels like it would rock at taking out single targets, but if it's all team-based then maybe healing is the way to go.
Of all the MMOs I have played, I find TOR's pvp to be the most satisfying. Not that it's perfect or even close, but it's fun. The objectives make it more interesting than just a deathmatch.

I noticed this is free to play now (though I guess it has been for a while?) What content do you get before you start paying?

Ok, some googling around tells me its not the group-joining it's the switching instances (something that often happens right after you join a team).

Yeah, that shit really pisses me off on anything other then my healers (since I'm not looking at the enemies anyway).
If I keep screwing things up (Oh, I'm targeting a <similar NPC to what I'm currently fighting> and then suddenly I'm aggroing 3 extra mobs because somehow I also lost my "Target closest" bind as well) I explain the problem and relog. Usually the group will hang around a bit while I do so.

The entire class story from 1-50 is free. It's really worth it just to give them $5 to make yourself preferred.
I'd say try and find a retail copy in a bargain bin somewhere for $15 or less. That gets you 1 month of being a subscriber plus preferred status for life.

Nice! I've had one or two similar ones, will have to dig out the screenshots when I get home.
Also had sort of the opposite happen, was in a very winnable Civil War even though we were a bit outmatched and had a shadow just watch a node get taken while they stood there recovering health. *sigh*
I'd have to check. I don't think so? I remember figuring out who I'm targeting by looking at their feet.
That is because when we play, we group together and thus get the bug. But for a bit I've known something was off with targeting!

Best way to avoid the bug is to just not change instances. When grouped up you will automatically be put into the same instance if you travel to the planet/instance your group is in. So just zone out and back in and problem avoided.
They really should fix it, though, because the few times its happened to me it makes targeting impossible. I don't know how people play like that consistently.
I'm sorry but, knowing exactly who I am targeting by way of a big no-bullshit totally unsubtle UI element is a mandatory feature.
I'm not interested in playing 'guess who!" or "find the red ring in the grasslolololololol" and this figuring out which whether I am targeting "Organa Battle Droid" 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 based on health percentage is not acceptable either.

I dunno, it's just never been that much of an issue for me? I guess it's because mostly I play tank, where it's pretty obvious if you don't have threat or not, or healer, where you're only looking at the raid group anyway. My first ranged DPS is at about lvl 40, but even that it doesn't seem like much of an issue, because either I'm throwing out AOEs in which case it doesn't matter who I target, or I'm hitting the weakest mobs and/or the mobs with the lowest health, and it's pretty dang easy to figure out which one that is.
It probably helps that I have nametags and healthbars on everything.
Edit: and the nametag is probably why I never see the arrow, too.
I have nametags and healthbars turned on too, the arrow sits right above the health bar.
I guess I can see how you could just end up learning some other method and overlook the arrow. But if the arrow is the thing that you've been using to know who you're aiming at all along, having it suddenly vanish is crippling.
Yeah I main a Commando so if there's a pile of mobs so big I can't make out the targeting circle, I'm already dumping so many fucking AOEs into the pack it'll be thinned out right quick.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKERS
Who do I need to message to join the Imp guild on Shadowlands? Just want the XP bonus mainly :P
Yes, I am currently GM of RC.
I'll be on a bit tonight for my usual PVP before jumping onto an alt (probably sometime between 5 and 7 EST). I need to join the PA Chat since I always forget to, but my empire alts toons are Assuran, Breanna, Flokk, and Flockette. If I'm on my Pub alts, I'm most likely on Celinah as I'm leveling her. There is an outside chance I'll be on Joarclas, Alornaha, or Hjalmar as well, but it's highly unlikely.
As an update, if you haven't logged onto a toon in RC for over 300 days, I've booted them. I'm more than happy to sent another guild invite, but I hate cluttering up guilds with inactive members.
Cool. I'm playing as Thexana - I just sent a friend request to all your alts

That's a good idea. I see this all the time in bargain bins now.
How healthy is the game? Is it one of those situations where I'll buy into a game on it slast legs? Because that annoys me a lot.

I'd start with a low level character, though, to learn the maps and some basic inter-class strategy since you only play against other low levels.

I have all enemy nameplates displayed 24/7 and never noticed that little arrow before. Always went by the foot circle.
I don't use tab targeting much either, though. And when I do, I go by mob strength/name to know which I'm targeting.
it is unpossible
the foot ring is some sort of sick joke.
