So I'm new to playing vs people and mostly a carry player and I'm definitely learning that I am trying to solo farm lanes too much in mid/late game which gets me ganked & killed. I need to spend more time with team mates and in the jungle after the laning phase.

Have a game up for low MMR/new people who want to play some low pressure games. Have three so far, could use two more.
Fuck warding. I'm done with it in pubs. Until they come out with brail wards. Will anyone actually look at their mini-map, or help me gank the people we see farming alone in jungle...Fuck no. Every shit head screams for Wards Wards Wards!!! but won't stop ricing with the 2 other fucking carries long enough to actually make use of them.
Honestly, the only way to solo queue in this game is to just have a hard skin and don't worry about losing or what other people are doing wrong. Yeah perhaps other players are making bigger mistakes that are losing games but you're still probably making small ones at least. After each game think about what YOU could have done better and eventually you'll start winning more than losing and end up in a MMR where MOST random pub team-mates are fine.
Spitting the dummy and just being all 'fuck this' to warding and playing support properly just dooms you to spend more time with bad team-mates.

I always ward in pubs for my own sake at the very least. Drop a ward at the rune spot and a ward in the forest close to you and you can avoid 90% of pub ganks. Plus, rune control is so easy to achieve in lower-level pubs and so huge if you do.

Starting up another low-pressure game. PA channel or add me on steam.
God I'm so sick of Warlock. 4 golems all day erry day. It seems to me when that's the build every. single. time...well, the golems are too strong. And unless you end the game early, you can't stop the pain train. He'll farm up those 2 items and then unless you've got a damn good silence, or a diffusal. Welcome to fucking pain town.
This video kind of sum up my frustration. Talk about skill...
That's a hell of a lot of money on a Warlock, though. If their Warlock has that much money, shouldn't your carry be tearing apart those golems like tissue paper?

If you really want to mess up a Warlock's day learn to play Shadow Demon. His ultimate works like a diffusal and will instantly kill a golem. Without that it will be extremely difficult for Warlock to pick up any money via creep/hero kills. Shadow Demon's Disruption and Soul Catcher are godly support skills as well.
Never mind I see this was actually changed by a patch a few weeks ago. What the others have said is true though. Warlock will go down quickly to spells and gankers like Nyx.

Warlock is pretty squishy and is pretty bad at farming, it should take him a loooong time before he gets both aghanim's and refresher. Just focus him down during fights, he'll go down quickly.
Hey all, glad to see some other inexperienced folks jumping on lately. I've been gradually falling down the Dota hole but TI3 really cemented a potentially life-destroying addiction (if I ever got time to actually play). I'm still terrible and happy to play with patient folk of all skill levels, so feel free to add me.
Super important question: did they do International scarves this year? I couldn't see any when they toured the Secret Shop, but I thought they were some kind of tradition.
so... been randoming just to learn the heroes, and stumbled across invoker.
he's kinda hard yo.
His skill floor is a lot lower than you think. You can contribute to most games using maybe 3 spells in lower-tier games. Search Reddit or Playdota for a Quas/Wex build and learn the combos for Cold Snap, Tornado, EMP, and Ghost Walk just to be safe. You're a wizard bitch!
Once you're comfortable there, step it up to Quas/Exort for maximum iceiceice power.

You talk clean and bomb hospitals, so I speak with the foulest mouth possible
I had a disagreement with a bloodseeker on my team last night. He insisted on casting Bloodrage onto the enemies, especially lifestealer. He kept saying it was so he couldn't go immune to magic or to heal so he would die faster. I tried to explain that if he casted bloodrage onto himself Lifestealer would also die faster.
Two questions, was I wrong? and does silencing prevent passives from working?
well other than the fact that you probably don't want to bloodrage right click damage dealers. silence would prevent rage, but i don't think it stops passives
It won't disable passives, but Rage also gives him a huge attack speed steroid. If he can pop Rage and stick to a high-health target, he's going to get huge heals from Feast.
So he was sort of right, but it's kind of a moot point unless your team can kill him in the duration of the Bloodrage silence.
Or if you've got a BKB-piercing disable like Fiend's Grip or Roar, then I guess it'd be better to use it on himself after he gets Rupture off.

Big thanks to @Gnometank for organizing that newbie-friendly game last night! It was a fantastic game that ended in a really exciting base trade! I'll pretty much be online and ready for games around 10:30-11pm EST most nights, so if anyone else is new and wants to queue together around that time, look me up. Steam profile info is my sig.

He put Level 4 Bloodrage on a Lifestealer? I am so sorry.
Level 1 Bloodrage is okay to silence with since the DPS bonus is pretty small, but silencing a farmed right-click damage dealer with Level 4 Bloodrage in anything less than a 1v5 gang scenario is asking for a teamwipe.
Doom is to my knowledge the only spell in the game which actively disables hero passives.

I'll probably be making this low-pressure inexperienced friendly game a nightly thing, as much as I can.
The game last night was a lot of fun. They picked the wrong team to base trade though. We had a Naga and I had basically outfarmed their entire team on Furion and was all Deso'ed up. I don't even think they had cracked our T4s before we had throne down.
Yeah, a tip for the newbies, don't ever try to base trade an illusion hero unless you've massively outfarmed them. Even if the illusions are only dealing ~50-60% the DPS of the actual hero, that's a 150%-180% DPS increase. Take a hero like Chaos Knight who gets 3 illusions that deal 100% damage and structures just melt.
Same goes for heroes like Furion, Brood or Enigma who can bring their own creepwaves. Any kind of damage multiplier is a huge advantage in base races.

I was so busy barking at everyone to focus their T4s, I forgot to pop Sprout and generate a treant wave. We could have finished it even faster.

The guys I play with, most are from here and in the guild.... we usually have 5-7 of us who can do custom lobbies.
We have done a few and got some randoms from the PA guild in. Monday night we did one that was fun, super high kill count and skill levels ranging from people playing less than 100 games to over 1000 games. We just hit the skill shuffle button and go in balls first.
Also, special rulesets can be fun. We tried once to do Mounts Vs Beards. It was fun, except some who joined seemed to only wanna do metagame dota and left after saying "mounts vs beards wouldn't be fun".
But we did it, mid-only mode, dire was mounts and radiant was beards. Radiant won because we thought picking multiple disruptors would be strong but didn't consider their damage potential of Axe in an all mid mode.
I would like to do more custom games like this, either silly stuff like beards/mustache/flying/etc. only. Or just the standard no pressure 5v5, fuck the metagame mode with friendly PA guys.
My steam is in my sig, Badwrong, same avatar so easy to find. I can easily muster 5 people nightly... upto 8 if all of us are on. It would be nice to have more custom lobbies with other PAers, since we run into the problem when there is more than 5 of us and someone(s) have to solo-duo matchmake.
So like probably half the Dota community, I have trying to play some Alchemist. I cannot ever start cooking unstable concoction without getting stunned and /or silenced. Two pretty painful loses in a row with him last night. Played a 3rd game as centaur to cleanse the palate and just crush people.
I don't really "play the meta", but all my favorite heroes happen to be very good In the current meta. Furion, Sylla, Puck, Clock and Nyx.
Ya, we still try to get support and do shit to play well. Usually I wait for the newer players to pick what they are comfortable with and then get something that helps them out teamwise.
We just don't worry a ton about, "oh I better counterpick that hero and fuck him over" when playing in custom PA lobbies. When I solo queue, you bet I'll counter pick a stupid choice the other team might have made. Some turd insta-lock spiritbreaker, I'm totally picking lion or something so I can take a giant shit all over him.

I consider Heaven's Halberd core on Bloodseeker, because I like being able to silence carries and then give them the finger when they can't attack with all that sweet deeps after disarm.

You know, I played a game probably ~1.5 months ago where Demonic Purge was killing golems left and right.
I just went and tested it though and it totally doesn't do it anymore though. I guess it is fixed.
