I am liking this game, but the city feels pretty lifeless.
The city has as much life as it did in SR3. It's just that you're spending most of your time jumping over it and barely giving it enough time to load in people before you've super-leaped off to your next adventure. So, you don't really notice the ants that you land on each time.
Also, the city literally IS lifeless. You are trapped flying around in your own personally simulated hell.
this isn't an excuse! People keep saying this, but that doesn't effect how fun it is to play in.
Like, there not being a night/day cycle makes everything look so dull, it just switches between blue night in your neighborhoods and black night in alien neighborhoods.

I think Adam Sessler made a good point in his review.
The fact that the game is a simulation of an simulation(a video game) and not just a sim in itself really goes a way towards how you interact with it.
Like usually in these kind of games I try to limit my collateral damage as much as possible, not so much in this one.
After the plane sim turns out to be Shaundi's hell, rather than Gat's, and rescue Shaundi, something happens and there are tons of old gangs running around your sim raising hell.
It is a ton of stupid fun, especially if I freeze blast enemies and their vehicles, then do my improvised death from my above, because I don't have the official DFA power, which is done by jumping really high then doing the super-stomp.
I'm holding off on doing the next mission because I don't want this chaos to end.
So... has anybody seen anything about this? because I don't see anything on their site or twitter, or even any news sites, ONLY the saints row mods site...

Just read this in G&T and want to let everyone here know: the latest patch has broken the guns and has a chance of corrupting your save. So for the time being don't save your game.
The latest Steam patch severely breaks weapons. In the past Saints Row games, this would permanently corrupt a save if later removed/fixed. DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME UNTIL FIXED.
Yeah, again, that's the dude who runs the Saint's Row modding community. But there's noting on the official SR twitter, or Kotaku, or anything anywhere except that as far as I can tell
I've been playing a few hours so far tonight and nothing has been amiss, that I can tell. But just to be safe I'm playing in a different save other than my "main" one
The fact that you gain power-ups from smoking drugs.
That's why that mission has to not be in Australia.
"Drug use tied to rewards" is the specific reason, yeah. It's why GTA V's drug use is acceptable because it obviously doesn't provide any in-game benefit. Maybe the mission will altered down the track if Volition are feeling charitable.
I actually plan to go back and get a ps3 on the cheap some day for other reasons and when I do that I want to go back and play the first two saints row
I haven't had time to play past the intro, but best intro ever. When the music kicks in, it's so over-the-top it's fantastic. That was enough for me to consider this money well spent.

I personally think it still feels far more lively than most RPG environments in which NPCs just stand around in different corners, doing nothing.

and it don't make you feel bad about sucking them up in your wake
Hilarity.

Going from SR2 to SR3 taught me that in a manner similar to slamming into a brick wall at 120 miles an hour.
You unlock day lighting when you finish the game
It looks like shit

The Steam patch that supposedly breaks guns
I expected almost none of that and it was all great.

#5 is straight-up wrong
Saints Row 4 is basically about Saints Row 1, 2, and 3 coming together
You kinda need to have played at least Saints Row The Third to play this one
Because who in the living fuck cares

sounds like the author was determined to hate SRIV
not his cup of tea, fine, but the brusque style of his writing crumbles any bearing his opinion might otherwise have on mine

lol if you play on anything other than Noir or ASCII mode after you beat the game
