The TK rifts were a less-fun version of Genki's Mind of Matter. The Speed Rifts were just a boring version of the superspeed races. I don't know if I have played another one... Oh, the platforming rifts, right? A more boring version of the towers, but mostly horizontal instead of mostly vertical.
I'm probably never going to 100% anything because the rifts just aren't that great, and fuck some of the challenges
it's kind of sad because the rifts are when they tried to get a bit daring with taking you out of the open world sandbox and just give you a straight gaming challenge, and they're easily the worst part of the game
I found the "kill x dudes with y gun" challenges way more tedious than getting gold on everything. Also, why the shit did they put in a challenge to travel 2.5 million feet in an alien vehicle when there's no point in ever using one (I still did it like a moron)

The only character I did all side-missions for was Matt, because I looked up how to get the last Blast element. I may go back and finish all the side-quests later but no way in hell am I gonna go full 100% on everything.
but yeah no way is this my favorite game that came out this year. The super powers are fantastic, but don't make up for the failings of the city itself or the missions themselves.
The actual unique character missions are all great, but there are also about 6 of them. Racing was the main map thing that I greatly enjoyed, and the story missions were good, but the campaign itself was really short.
I always did all available side missions before proceeding with the story, because the rewards you get are so good
even when kinzie basically has you grind out hacking all of the stores the increased passive cache you get from doing so makes up for the increase in doors not being all that super
Aaaand just hit 100%, or at least as close as I'm ever going to get, which is the entire city taken over, all clusters found, all text adventures and audio logs found, all statues destroyed
Just like SR3, this has some challenges that would make it simply not fun to complete all the challenges
I don't mind rift speed. The first one took me a couple tries to get gold as I hadn't figured out how to maximize points, but after that they've all been easy golds
mostly just using your super charge to smash obstacles. Don't worry about filling it up all the way, just fire it off whenever you can if you see a whole bunch of roadblocks popping up ahead. You get big points from that and it will keep your supercharge going for a while
At first I was using it more for when a bunch of orbs were coming up as it increases your multiplier (which meant I was saving it and dodging obstacles), but that didn't seem nearly as effective as primarily using it to smash shit

I've gotten stuck on walls several times (sometimes jumping fixes it, sometimes not), and once I think my character even ended up going the wrong way (but the camera just stopped moving and I ran behind it so I don't really know what was happening).
It's also been laggy as hell for the client player when played on co-op.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
i was playing Co-Op and while at the top of a skyscraper a UFO shows up. While jumping around i landed ontop of the UFO and as it glided around it gave me the option to car surf. It was Awesome.

Its even easier in 4 as you can just super sprint for a bit and then tumble forever.
Also, my favorite part of this game was the VP sequence near the end.
He Lives being the title of that quest almost made up for the fact that they didn't squeeze in "put on these glasses or start eating that trashcan"
Also, I'd definitely say its my favorite game of the year right now. I doubt GTA is going to have you be a fucking superhuman in a sandbox, so I don't think it will change that.

Neither of which I was a big fan of! Still kinda tempted to just try and do it, though.

yeah, that's the one everybody keeps bringing up
but that's with good reason because what the fuck
Uh...
I'd like to say it's The Last of Us, Saints Row 4, BioShock Infinite, or some indie darling I loved like Gone Home, Kentucky Route Zero, or Gunpoint
But I know it's gonna be GTAV
There's almost no way it won't be
It's real good but there are just enough annoyances with it to make me not think it's perfect
Granted no game is perfect buuuut
sleeping dogs is my game of the year

I don't think we can declare KR0 game of the year when it's not all out yet.

I probably liked Tomb Raider and Revengeance just as much.
Can't speak for Infinite or the better indie stuff yet.

Saints Row IV is the Hulk: Ultimate Destruction sequel I've been looking for

Anyone else find the easter-egg room? My friend showed me in co-op last night.
Aside from a fucking terrible final boss fight, the whole game was a pretty great experience
Oh and also running rifts sucked, yeah, as did Super Power Fight Club
I liked all the other diversions though
little boring, but it didn't give me too much grief
but the fucking rifts, man

I would think--considering how much they've improved other aspects of SR3--that SR4 would make the Fraud missions actually fun.
But they are still the worst sidemission.
yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
Fraud has always been the best sidemission by a mile
you can get so much big air with the superpowers and just pinball down a highway
Much better than SR3 fraud.

Super-charge smashes obstacles!? Dammit!

that's just simple fun

the first step in fraud is to get to a freeway.
after that its easy as pie.
