Ha, came across Cabezone in a Alpine Conquest.
My team pasted his, but our one single light was an idiot and decided to fight instead of capping. So even though I managed to BRILLIANTLY lead Cabezone's Atlas and little group on a merry chase into my team (I was in a piddly Blackjack), we still lost about due to stuff that happened about 3 minutes into the fight.
It is. It's not Unreal Tournament grade since there's a lot of movement related things to consider due to the momentum mechanics but it is pretty fast.
@russ_bullock: Still waiting for the official data analysis by the engineer but it looks like a huge thumbs up on the new hit detection / HSR improvements
They'll probably scrub the fix and buff ballistics and SRM damage by 500% to compensate for poor hit detection.
Pffft, watch for SRMs to drop back down to 1.5 damage each and be worthless again.

I'll look into it. There may not be a lot I can do because all the rendering in the hands of our Twitter overlords since they made their API require auth. Now the only option is this horrible Iframe version.

The game isnt terrible. Its still plenty fun. But my enthusiasm is waning a bit. And it super easy to play single player games i can pause at any time to take care of kid shit that crops up every 15 minutes. Playing with people is taking a lot of my sleep time away and its catching up with me.

Just played a Frozen City game where I inexplicably racked up an excess of 500 points of damage using nothing but 2xMPLs and 2xAC-2s on my CN9-D seemingly without trying
on that note, how are MPLs over regular Medium lasers?

They do a little more damage for more heat, with a much shorter range. I think they work best on fast mechs (lights mainly) because you have to speed to close and get them in range. They also finish their firing cycle faster, meaning that you don't have to aim as long with them - which helps with tagging lights.
A Jenner with 4xMPL is a pretty good setup, for example.

Not really, every other CDA can, if necessary, downarmor the arms to get some tonnage back. The 2B cannot afford to do this or else risk having all its weapons taken off to a fluke shot. Most of the time, IME a CDA is going to get taken out through its CT so you can afford to do this, but snapshots and inaccurate incoming fire do happen.
[CDA-2A]: 6xMLAS, AMS, 320XL, DHS, Endo, Ferro
You can't do anything like this in the -2B (leaving aside how it doesn't even have enough hardpoints for it), because it can't free up armor that way.
Which is more or less directly inferior. You generally need to downgrade the engine on the -2B to make weight on a comparable build. (Me personally? I just ran it with an XL280, 2 ERPPCs+1SLAS for cleanup and called it a day)

MPL are good if you have an excess of tonnage to spend, limited hard points, don't mind the range penalty, and already have a sufficient number of heat sinks. This is kind of an edge case, since you really just need a ton of space but limited hard points to choose MPL over MLAS, but some mechs are like that.
The funny thing is that the MPLAS vs MLAS decision would be a pretty even tradeoff even if MPLAS were only 1 ton each. The MLAS' extra range and heat efficiency would make it better in a lot of cases even if it didn't weigh half as much.
At 2 tons it's seldom a good idea to use MPLAS unless you are really pressed for critical space (a couple Spiders are like this).

yeah i like MPLs on my jenner F. I was using regular MLas for a while, and then I realized I was almost never shooting from 300-500m anyway. The shorter period on pulse lasers is nice for fast movers too.
oh CTF-3D, why do you have to come with a 280XL. Chassis looks kinda interesting but spending 10mil for something that's really similar to the ilya is kinda ugh
