    Bug Fixes

Changed spawn location in Terra Therma for players spawning too close to the shipping containers. This was causing Mechs to have human scale movement collision capsules, making it very difficult to navigate the world.
Removed collision around the hole in center of Terra Therma's platform in Assault mode.
Fixed many "stuck bugs" in Terra Therma.
Fixed some collision issues in River City (Night) where certain sized Mechs were getting stuck between buildings.

    General

Navigation marker posts in Terra Therma will now actually cast light (med+ spec) for slightly better path-finding. Pro-tip: If the marker post is on the right edge of the path, you are headed toward the center volcano.
Terra Therma - Damage and heat sustained whilst in the Volcano has been increased and is subject to further tweaking.
Cockpit lights indicating the open/closed state of weapon bay doors are currently non-functional. Normal functionality will return in a future release.

We thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Ooh - potentially a stellar patch. Can't wait to try it out.

    Basically:

Going to have to see how the ultracat®© and shotcat play out. My DD is sad though.

Well this all sounds pretty good. Except the fact that the increased max engine size on the Hunchbacks breaks all the established max engine size rules, which will make them harder to explain and bugs me.

Well, we will see how 3PV effects the game. I might use it for screen shots but that is it.

Hmm, might swap back in the UAC5s in the cata to see if the rng still hates me. I had like a 50% jam rate before.

So basically all of the mediums had some combination of their torso pitch, arm pitch, and torso twist speed/angle increased and the Hunches got their max engine bumped up three steps. Awesome!

Retrofit it to The Triple Nipple(tm) build.

Considering the bugs they've found in the past I wouldn't be surprised if the heat bug is way down deep and this is the simplest fix they can implement while they get the deeper issue resolved

Honestly, as a lead-spewing Dragon, I thought that machineguns were a bit too good. I hope they aren't overly nerfed now though. What was the original values for machineguns before the buff?

I'm suprised to see that streaks got buffed. They needed to be buffed, but I wasn't expecting it to actually happen anytime soon. UAC5 change is good, LBX10 is good I guess? Also, the AC2 changes make me laugh a bit because basically they messed up something with ghost heat, and the solution was just to slow down AC2's instead of actually fixing the problem.

3PV and the changes to mediums I'll actually have to try to form any opinion about it.

How much extra speed does the Hunchback change translate to? That quirk might give them a niche against other mediums that can do the same loadouts better.

My gut reaction to this was "Bah, ugly workaround." Then I realized that this is still much preferrable to waiting, what, 7 months for a PPC "fix" that introduced a new, unnecessarily convoluted and badly documented game mechanic that still doesn't address a problem that may have been solved by just tweaking the numbers in a single XML file.

If you've already played post Open Beta release it won't be too hard. Be sure to turn off throttle decay and arm lock (unless you are one of those mythical people that likes those "features"). Other than that, use the offline mechlabs to figure out some builds and stuff, and hop on vent and you shouldn't have too many issues.

Biggest jeer of an overall pretty OK patch, which I don't see anybody discussing here:

Rewards for the losing team reduced on Conquest. Right on the heels of CB earnings getting drastically reduced overall, and 12-mans making longer matches more common, and Conquest already averaging longer games than Assault. Playing Conquest is a really bad choice now if you need to grind CB.

The MG nerfs are a little sad but probably needed to happen, to be honest. If you had a stripped section and ran into someone with MGs you were just dead immediately, which while rad was maybe more powerful than a weapon that you can get 2 of + 1 ton of ammo for 2 tons should be.

In other news, LBX-10 builds might be a little more viable now? Maybe?

These all seem like pretty great changes (opinions on 3rd person notwithstanding). I look forward to not getting stuck on T-Therma, and to actually feel a little threatened when I traipse across the freaking lava pools like they aren't there.

But man, that Streak bump. Ugh. They couldn't have just bumped it 2.0 like it's non-Streak brethren?

Also, and I'm late to the party on the news, but the Phoenix Project stuff? Unf unf unf, so good.

Amidst all of the sturm und drang on the official forum right now there is actually a fair point: whether or not 3PV is truly useful, PGI did give their word that people using 3PV would be in a separate queue and nobody would ever be forced to play against people who use 3PV. Now they appear to have completely broken that promise without a word of explanation, and in fact made 3PV the default option for everybody.

(And if browser settings teach us anything, it's that the majority of people never bother to or learn how to change default settings. Ironically 3PV as implemented could end up being a small advantage for experienced players, if only to be used briefly to peek over hills and such, while at the same time UTTERLY SCREWING OVER newbies.)

People who feel strongly about 3PV being in the game have a right to be upset by this. It's simply very poor form to violate players' trust in such a cavalier fashion, but sadly not too surprising considering PGI's history of inept community relations.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. Highly considering canceling my Phoenix preorder (if that's even possible. I guess I could just demand it from support if there's no immediately obvious cancel button), because they've now shoehorned in a feature that basically no one wanted before tackling the serious issues the game has (weight balancing and PPC/gauss spring to mind). Their priorities are fucked.

    Your mistake is using armlock.

Not really. I will maintain until the day I die that it's more efficient to keep your torso and arm guns synced until you need to move the arms separately, at which point you just do that because the arms will move basically instantaneously to their max separation once you turn arm lock off.

I have watched so many perspectives of people without it trying to get the arms to skew around to the target along with the torso and it's just not happening and they can't get enough shots off before they die.

Turning arm lock off constantly just reduces your accuracy and ability to pinpoint people while maybe giving you a slight edge in a minority of situations. It's not worth it.
