I decided to dive into another game in my backlog: Shank. Seems cool thus far, although I kind of suck at it. Whenever I play games that have a combo meter, I always feel like a failure for not getting the counter very high at all.
I definitely wanted to try it out before playing Mark of the Ninja!
They're not really the same type of game, so you should go ahead and enjoy MOTN cause Shank isn't for everyone. Klei themselves admit that Shank was sort of a slapped together rush job that they don't regret cause of the love it got their company, but that they do regret that they didn't make it better than it could have been.
Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the games were similar or anything. My main reason for wanting to play through Shank first is that I just wanted to play a beat 'em up and, since it was a game by the same people who made MOTN, I wanted to play it first before fully experiencing a more polished game by the same studio. I've actually played a small amount of MOTN earlier this year. I look forward to playing it eventually.
I'm also happy to see that I have one entry so far for my Binding of Isaac: Wrath of the Lamb giveaway! Of course, others are welcome to enter too!
On a side note: for those who have Netflix instant streaming, last year's Dredd movie is now on there. I watched it for the first time last night and it's an excellent action movie. It's a shame it didn't do well in theaters.

So I activated a few games from the two bundles I bought recently, and I must have passed the 250 mark--cause according to my Steam badge I'm now a certified GAME MECHANIC!

Oh, how I've longed for this day. There's so many games around here that need a good and proper fixing.
Playing Alpha Protocol, liking it but that damn camera, time to get the PS2 controller out.
I don't know if they ever patched the game where the hacking isn't impossible with KBAM, but I know people used to keep a controller hooked up for that very reason.
Shame about the camera, though. Alpha Protocol 4 lyfe!
Yeah, this game is awesome, but you really do need to use a controller to enjoy it. The KBAM was sub-par.
Finally fired up Dragon Age:Origins for the first time a couple days ago. Loving it so far! It's awesome.. really wish I could just call in sick and play more... especially today of all days!

Eh, it's all pretty subjective. I've played through 3 times with a KBAM and in the future when I play through I'll use KBAM again.
Does anyone know if DLC's can be region restricted/censored?
I recently traded for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Resurgence Pack, but it is tagged with (DE). I'm worried the Germans sliced up this and took out the good stuff.
I think my son may have closed a steam chat message without me seeing it. Is there any way to see a chat history?
If you have the steam app on your phone it should have recent chats show up.
Thanks - I'm guessing maybe it was a message from having Origin time out that was confusing him. Generally he knows to tell one of us if something pops up...
The hacking on Saints Row 4 can go and fuck itself though. Tedious shit that I don't have the time for when I could be making things explode right the fuck now.
I was once contracted by the Truman administration about designing their web site. Considering that the internet did not exist at the time, and I wouldn't be born for several more decades while the letter circulated amongst confused postal workers, I can only assume that someone in the 1945 White House was a witch.
I think my son may have closed a steam chat message without me seeing it. Is there any way to see a chat history?
You can open up a chat with that person, that's about it. It only saves a little, though, and not sure for how long.
I think it only saves the last chat you had with someone. So if you start a chat and see your previous chat, close it without sending any messages, and then start it again you won't see any chat history.
I'm on the move soon, via some family times, so my PC will be out of action for a couple of weeks. My teeny-laptop has barely enough space to even fire itself up and breathe, let alone install any games beyond 50Mb efforts. So, no Steamin' for me for a while bar the occasional dabble in things like Atom Zombie Smasher and Weird Worlds.
Can anyone recommend any brilliant browser games? I've been particularly loving Echo Bazaar/Fallen London of late, for example.
What are your system specs? There are games on Steam for every PC, from the quad core ultra rig with SLI'd Titans that is OC'd so high that its thermal output rivals that of our sun... to the most humble of single core netbooks stuttering along on an integrated GMA 950. If your PC is capable of running the Steam client, there are games on Steam that will run on it. If you post your specs we can recommend some games that will run well. If you don't know what they are, a program like speccy can tell you, alternately you can click start, then run, type in "dxdiag", and post what is listed under "Processor" and "Memory" on the System tab, as well as what is listed under "Name" and "Approx. Total Memory" on the Display tab.
If you just mean hard drive space, there are plenty of tiny games on Steam. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is 6MB, Duke Nukem 1 and 2 are 7MB and 12MB respectively, Home is 45MB, FTL is 160MB, all of the Heretic/Hexen games combined are less than 175MB, the Geneforge games are 50-80MB each, Osmos is 31MB, Quake is 55MB, Crayon Physics is 45MB, Eschalon: Book 1 is 180MB, Wolfenstein 3D is 6MB, and Spacewar is only 9MB, to name a few.
On a side note: for those who have Netflix instant streaming, last year's Dredd movie is now on there. I watched it for the first time last night and it's an excellent action movie. It's a shame it didn't do well in theaters.
Is it better than the mid 90s Stallone Judge Dredd movie?
Before you answer, keep in mind that the first one had Diane Lane in it.
Finally fired up Dragon Age:Origins for the first time a couple days ago. Loving it so far! It's awesome.. really wish I could just call in sick and play more... especially today of all days!

Just beat Shank. Another one off the ol' backlog! Glad it was a short game. I was going to ask what my next game should be, and then I see today's sale game is Thomas Was Alone. I already have it, but have only played a few levels. Guess I'll give it a shot!

Yeah, the main difference is that this one is actually good. The setting feels a lot more realistic, and it's set in one (massive) building.
Reposting this for the weekend crowd. Note the small, yet significant, change to the last paragraph; I'd intended this all along, and mistyped when posting.
I notice that some of you are having some really shit-ass days, recently. Hey, me, too.
You know what would make you all feel so, so much better?
No, not that. It's illegal, and where would we find rubber pants at this hour?
No, I'm talking about the most cathartic thing in the world:
ELVENSHAE'S TIME TO SWORD THE HELL OUT OF SOMEONE CONTEST OF WAAAAAAGH!
For those of you who only want your swording in short bursts and like to have other people involved (:winky:), I have a couple copies of the best RUN-AROUND-SCREAMING-AND-THEN-KILL-SOMEONE game ever: Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Go online, meet interesting people, and then hit them with a heavy piece of metal.
For those of you looking for a longer, more strategic experience, I also have a couple copies of the life-sucking, free-time-devouring Mount and Blade: Warband. While this also features online multiplayer action, my focus with it has always been the single-player campaign, where you start as the lonely captain of a mercenary band of 1 (awww...), and then build yourself up into an Emperor by your own hand (and lots, and lots, of dead bodies; omelettes, eggs, etc.).
All you have to do to enter is PM me and tell me which ones you're interested in. You get 1 bonus entry into my little raffle for every (unique) picture of the Most Ridiculous Weapon, Ever, Seriously, Why Would Anyone Ever Use That? Only the first person to submit a given weapon gets credit for it. Bonus points for it being an actual thing, rather than some animu stuff.
Basically, if you're interested in both, you can enter both raffles. I won't judge.
If you have not played Terraria then you have not lived. This is your chance to right a grave injustice that has been done to you. Enter, Win, and let the rest of your backlog wither and die.
Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble looks interesting and different... Has anyone actually played it?
It's a little hard to describe. Lots of text involved. Basically you go around convincing people to join your club by buying them gifts and being nice to them. You do various things to get money. If you don't get enough people your comedy club gets disbanded by the bitchy club rep.
So, like real life.
Whoops, I'm thinking about Cherry Tree Comedy Club. -,-
I asked the misses, she said you go to different rooms for lessons and solve puzzles, cards games and word games. At some point you solve a mystery. You also grind lots of puzzles.

As long as you're aware that RE5 isn't really a horror game, yes it's good. It's a very fun coop action game. Had a blast with it.
Loved it and it is more of an action game. It's perfect if you have someone to co-op with, especially a significant other who hides behind you because she's a lousy shot.

I'm reading that I should be able to sell these trading cards for Steam pennies. As I have no desire for them that sounds like a good deal. However my inventory seems to refuse to load in browsers or the Steam client on multiple computers. What am I doing wrong?

@SmokeStacks; The best thing about the new Dredd movie is seeing Karl Urban (who never takes off the helmet /fistpump) play Dirty Harry play Judge Dredd. It works so fucking well.

Dredd was an awesome movie! When I saw the previews, I thought it looked like a bad ripoff of that south-east asian movie whose name I can't recall right now. Both involved fighting their way through an apartment complex. But it turned out to be just as awesome.

SR4 is so damn good. It's good like chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting and chocolate sprinkles.
I was once contracted by the Truman administration about designing their web site. Considering that the internet did not exist at the time, and I wouldn't be born for several more decades while the letter circulated amongst confused postal workers, I can only assume that someone in the 1945 White House was a witch.
I can't wait to play it again tonight, I'm 3 hours in and so far it's like they put some prototype in my saints row which makes me very happy
Except in SR4, you then load those delicious cupcakes into a cupcake bazooka, and fire them at things. Where they explode into rainbows of death.
