I don't think a long black coat will ever really look good on me, but I really want to at least try on one like Simon Pegg's in this movie
the cut was pretty cool
When Gary gets to the First Post, he gives his whole speech about what they're doing, and proclaims the King has returned, only to find that nobody remembers him
But when they get to a different pub, after they fight the blank kids, the bartender basically recites his entire speech, right down to his description of the beer that he was offered
So somewhere in between, the robots shared some information
I switched av and sig to Captain America for 4th of July, as I did last year, but I only keep it for the one day
Dunno, I watched Dredd again last night and QMark made the gifs and I'm in the mood to give it a spin for a week or so
This movie was fantastic and my theatre was full. People cheered during some of the best action parts!
I think Hot Fuzz still has my heart. But I can't really confirm it until I give it a few more rewatches. The audience laughing made me miss a few parts.
Also, the way they did callbacks like
the Cornetto wrapper were awesome. I'm pretty sure I clapped once or twice with delight at the fence scene, too.
Yeah in the first big fight scene, our entire audience cheered

I got to bring a lot of people to the movie that didn't know the gist of the movie beyond friends reuniting for a bar crawl.
I'm pretty sure their response was lukewarm. I'm pretty sure their response was wrong.

The thing I thought about the movie as soon as I left it, and said to the wife:
"It was a better From Dusk til Dawn."
"W...what?"
"Well, both movies changed tones completely from one half to the other."
"Yea, so?"
"I liked both halves of this one."

Two things occur to me about the ending of the movie, having seen it.
1. Although technology was all wiped out, since the Blanks are still around it seems likely that technology still WORKS, it's just that the current stuff was blown up/rendered inoperable. Since we already know how to make all of the stuff, and if any written information survived at all, it seems like the climb back up will be a lot shorter than the first time around.
2. Given that humanity is apparently the belligerent, warlike asshole of the galaxy, and we got royally fucked by alien AI's, either they'll have to keep destroying all human technology, or humanity is going to start knocking shooting the hell out of the galaxy at some point
Edit: oh yeah, and one more thing I've noticed
Increasingly I see more movies where one of the big plot reveals is that all of the crazy information age technology we have now that we didn't 10 or 20 years ago was basically solely derived from aliens. I guess it's sort of a modern Pyramid sort of situation, sort of like people have a hard time believing technology has advanced so rapidly and it was just regular old really smart people doing it. Nope. Gotta be aliens.

Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. - Lincoln

There's other stuff like that.
The beers that are waiting out for them in later pubs, the Marmalade Sandwich, the bully in the woods etc. It's pretty clear that the robots figured out they knew early on, and tried to adjust accordingly, to make things more pleasing and seductive.

That's been going on for a while. They did that back in the first Men in Black and in Independence Day. People are just so shocked at the exponential development of technology.

Commander, we appear to have activated the X-Com project. We guess.
Honestly, last night is kind of a blur. So, uh, kill the aliens or something. But keep it down. We've all got headaches.
*The entire description of the first pub crawl.
*"They should have had five musketeers, then two could die and they would still have three."
*"Look at the town in it's natural color, because tonight we're going to paint it red." (I really expected Nick Frost to say "It's really more of an orange" when they were sitting on the hillside at the end)
*The story about ordering water in a pub full of big guys with painted faces.
*Etc.

I don't think I've ever seen you switch
Think I'd break it down Shaun>Hot Fuzz>This, but the worst of the Cornetto trilogy still beats the hell out of most other people's best.
Humanity's motto, to the end.

The World's End was a better movie but This Is the End was very funny too (kinda fell apart toward the end but the first half was gold).

It seemed a little less focused than the first two, but that makes it merely excellent rather than perfect

There is so much foreshadowing in this movie.
