The holo-sim in particular burns me out because there is nothing to it other than surviving waves... no change of scenery, nothing. At least with Midtown Patrol there is some amount of... immersion I guess is the closest word I can find. Much less loot though, obviously. I think terminals would be a little better if there were more scenarios other than the ones already covered by story mode, but they generally do provide me with a suitable distraction.

There is a new "Chaos" terminal coming that is randomized bosses and mobs. Also, there is a new chapter coming, Bronx Zoo, which will be the new chapter 2. An additional unannounced chapter (rumored to be cosmic related) possibly by end of year. Devs said this last week they are looking to build a new MM-style map, plus there is going to be competitive PvE map(s), new modes for PvP, and the first raid. Details on most of that and more should be revealed at end of April when devs do a panel at Chicago comic con.
I know any hero can use any owned team-up no matter how many other heroes that team-up is assigned to.
but does each of your heroes have an instanced version of the teamup (like how Diablo 3 handles the companions) meaning my Cyclops version of Falcon has different gear to my Deadpool Falcon?
or is it essentially a mini-hero you gear up and all your heroes get access to that specific Team-up wearing a universal set of gear?

At least they are going to ditch the having to re-run story mode to get the bonus stats.
EDIT: Also, you can disable synergy XP bonus in gameplay options if you want to somewhat keep pace with story content.
On the other hand the developers are really into it and their enthusiasm is contagious so I still give them money.
Hmm.
Mechanically they're not particularly interesting. Basically mildly customizable combat pets, and the pet AI in this game is pretty awful and the controls non-existent. Spider-man is probably the better pet from what I've seen, though Magik is flashier and can summon more pets which is amusing. Their overall effectiveness is hard to gauge since no one on test really has equipment for them, but playing on a low level character they trivialize the low level content even further.
Now I will say that they have a lot of unique voice work (with Spider-man being done by Christopher Daniel Barnes) and are actually quite chatty which is nice. They comment on random heroes, and apparently will also comment on some characters when they're called in though I have not heard this myself.
Probably going to ignore them myself for the moment. Maybe grab one during a sale or when they release some more down the road.
I've not seen anything about what they're going to do with the roll out of these. Your point about balancing really leans towards everybody having to have at least one. With them delaying them all because two are late I wouldn't be shocked to find out they plan on comping people a single one of them. At a random guess I'd say they're the new "You beat the story!" reward since so many of the starters no longer get ES for that.
That would push the complexity down the road a little bit and keep at least the normal run of the story at "Really Easy" instead of "Laughably Easy" for first time players. When you're rerunning the story with XP boosts I don't think they have much option to make that not silly. I do wish they just shared out waypoints, at least the ones that you're of a level with.
On a second character, the only troublesome waypoint for permanent bonuses is Mandarian, because it's instanced without a quick access to a normal zone.
I do hope they do have one for everyone, as otherwise balancing is going to get fairly messy moving forward.
This is a very good counterpoint. I hadn't thought about the advance pack thing.
Considering I have so goddamn many splinters I could have just bought them all that way
Oh well, I'll know better when "wave 2" of team-ups rolls around or whatever
I mean, I really hope I'm wrong and this isn't an issue. But from what I've seen on test, Team-Ups offer a not insubstantial boost to combat capabilities. They apparently don't survive well on Cosmic at the moment, but gear is basically not available so I imagine that will change (and if not, the devs will tweak them, as I doubt they want people pissed their expensive pet implodes on anything difficult). So whenever raids roll around, assuming they're as tight and focused as the devs say they are, I imagine a group with team-ups is gonna have an easier time than one without.
I hope we get a free or at least extremely low cost (and effective) team-up right off, or at least really quickly, but currently it looks like Spider-man and Magik will be mid-cost, and I'm assuming Falcon and Firestar will be high-cost since they're entirely new assets. And right now for what they are team-ups are pretty overpriced to begin with too. For glorified combat pets that re-use a lot of existing animations, Magik and Spider-man are more expensive than the low-cost heroes. Twice as many splinters or 100G more.
So it's very hard for me to be optimistic about this. But I suppose for the moment the content can be done fairly well without Team-ups, so I'll primarily ignore them.
Where'd this come from?
Doomsaw on 3/19 in a thread about it: "Yep, we are going to do this in some easy manner."
Well once one character opens up all the way points though all the difficulty modes you can just use them to get your other characters the extras without having to do any of the story. Most of all the way points you can switch characters at right outside of them for every extra skill point and health bonus.
Except Mandarian.
MANDARIAN!!!!!!
Even then, it's a couple minutes of favor if you've got somebody else to help you.
Yeah I tend not to do the +spirit ones since most are a real pain to get done. There's no way I'm running Malekith and Loki three times for 15 spirit.
Yea. It was nice when they did rotating boss buffs that you could get a group for Loki, which helps a great deal.
Though I still remember the guys I joined who had apparently been at it awhile. Seems they didn't get the whole "Kill the fucking Illusions" bit. I suppose if you don't have damage numbers on it could be hard to tell.
Also, man these shards are hard to find. At least I got 100 from some beginner quest, so I'm sitting at 130 or so.

There's been several costume sales since launch, and they have in game sales events every weekend now, so I would just recommend to wait for one to pick up one or more you want. There's also a crafting recipe that you can put in three unwanted costumes and craft a random new one (costs 200k credits to use).
Every other crafting option he offers still works fine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
"Upgrades level 12 or lower epic (purple) weapon or armor with components". Epic, check. Level 12 or lower, check. Weapon or Armor, check.

Yeah, you're right! That's only in the pop-out description though, not in the one inside the crafting window. Gotta watch out for that from now on.

What about a take on the Wolverine story arc "Enemy of the State", where a bunch of super villains and brainwashed super heroes would invade the helicarrier among waves of Hydra/AIM mobs?
Have you increased the max players in a MM instance? If so, please lower them again.

Even getting Red prestige on Cyclops as is sounds like the most boring experience imaginable.
In small doses Ricochet Blast can be mesmerizing, but a quick 4-5 levels and I'm done playing Scott for a good while.
