This is why i didn't pre-order sonic though. I loved colours, and I loved generations. Sonic racing transformed was amazing. Lord knows he was due to come crashing down again at some point.
I am getting Wii Party U when it releases and i can't wait because that looks balls to the wall fun.

I'll do what I do with all Sonic games...wait a little while and grab it on the cheap.
Reviews for Sonic are all over the place. Anywhere from 4 to 9. Apparently it's even more divisive than ZombiU.
This is one of those cases where you should look at the game play videos and look for what the reviews say are trouble spots and make up your mind if the game is for you or not.
For example, apparently IGN is obsessed with the fact that the game isn't "gotta go fast!" when you read the review text. That and apparently the bit in Frozen Factory that's like Super Monkey Ball where everyone in this thread was like, "Oh neat it's like Super Monkey Ball" the IGN review says, "whoever signed off on Lost World’s ice act, called Frozen Factory, must hate fun. That’s the only explaination[sic] for a five-minute-long level where Sonic encases himself in a giant snowball to slowly and uncontrollably slip and slide across narrow ledges flanked by bottomless pits."
So really, just remember not to look at a number and go, "Oh I guess it sucks."

@urahonky So you didn't play Colors/Generations? You missed out as they are both fantastic.
Also Gamestop the Magazine has a very interesting bit that pretty much invalidates their review:
Last generation’s Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors were both poor attempts to fuse 2D and 3D platforming, and it’s sad to see Sonic Team fail to improve following those stumbling points. Lost World’s obvious inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy appeared to be a step in the right direction, but the core game is sub-par even by Sonic’s standards.
I have issues using review scores to determine the quality of Sonic games. '06 poisoned the well, so to speak, and it seems that it will never really shake off the stigma left by that game. The common wisdom has become that every Sonic game sucks, and every one is also the first step in the right direction.
What I saw of the game in demonstration videos and stuff looked fine, so I personally don't see myself disliking it unless it suddenly nosedives into 06's section of Glitch Gulch. As such, I'm going to buy it, and I'm going to love it.
If you really want a fantastic Sonic game to play...make sure you play Sonic Chronicles...it's...wonderful...right @Cloudeagle?
...you know how some war veterans get PTSD when they hear things that remind them of the war, like a car backfiring or something, and they completely melt down?
I just had that, damn you.

My brain can't process those words that are being put together.
If the reviewer thought Generations and Colors were poor, his opinion is automatically null & void in my mind.
Dammit. Here I thought Sonic Team had finally figured that 3D thing out...
I don't put too much stock in Metacritic. The score itself doesn't necessarily make a bad game. When it comes to Sonic, reviews will always be somewhere between great to poop from a butt depending on the reviewer. Some reviewers just don't like Sonic or the 3D gameplay. Some do.

A large number of subjective opinions != an objective opinion.
Murphy levels, especially the endless challenges, are some of my favorite parts of the game. Really the only thing I don't care for is the Dojo and what I've played of the Origins levels, neither are terrible, but they feel like a step backward from the incredibly fluid platforming of the new/other levels.
I hope they put out a demo sometime so I can try before I buy. I actually have liked quite a few of the games other people didn't. I liked Sonic and the Secret Rings which got ok scores up front and then people hated it in hindsight and despite the glitches I loved Sonic Heroes. I'd at least like to give this one a shot.
I agree about a demo. I'm really on the fence about Sonic, but it also doesn't seem like the type of game that reviews would help me decide on. I really just need a chance to try it out and see if the controls/camera feel solid enough to not be frustrating.
Yeah, actually. It's always been kinda ok, I thought. 7 is what you worry about a bit.
8 means if you watch a trailer and think you will like this game, you are probably right and might want to think about getting it.
9-10 means if you watch a trailer and don't think you will like this game, you may want to think twice because it's just that good.
I hope one day we'll receive a true "1 through 10" scoring system as opposed to today's "7 through 10" scoring system.
I don't treat the score as gospel. If I drop a '7 from Eurogamer' or a '10 from EDGE' into conversation, I'd expect people should go read the text if they were making a purchasing decision. The score is just shorthand for me (and the reviewers) to say whether the game is liked or not.
Games that score 8 are often more interesting to me than games that score 10. Several of the critical darlings this year (Bioshock Inifinite, GTAIV) are games where I've played the prior game in the series and know I'm not interested.
A game scoring 8 could be something with an interesting quirk or feature that reviewers simply haven't got their head around. A game that takes a little bit of time to master the gameplay is more rewarding than a AAA title that is all flash and production values.
That's good - Rayman for $25 is my temptation for that day. I'm hoping that Amazon will price match so I can just stay up until Midnight and place an order.
They've been dropping in price for the last few weeks. Trilogy is about $60 now and Xenoblade is around $50. I'm gonna have to grab Xenoblade on BF at the lower price for sure.
I'm going to have to scoop up both. Those were the two Wii titles when I started collecting my back catalog that I wanted the most and most strongly suspected I would not be able to get my hands on.
I've noticed that Radiant Dawn has dropped in price on Amazon as well. Maybe I will complete my Wii collection after all.

Can those be stacked with the b2g1? I could see doing a used Wii, Metroid Trilogy and Xenoblade for $80 being a pretty great deal. I get the 10% thing too - so it'd be more like $76ish (10% doesn't apply to consoles).

I don't intend on giving Gamestop my business but I'm sure Amazon will have it for a similar price around that same time.

They did! They just.... didn't use that format again for god only knows why.

That said, I kinda like them, and only like 2 or 3 of them are mandatory.
