[Takedown] Tactical FPS in old Rainbow 6 style. Xbox 360 out on the 21st.
TAKEDOWN: Red Sabre is a deadly tactical shooter that is perfect for the player who chooses to engage in deliberate and methodical gameplay as opposed to gamers who want to run in with guns blazing. Gamers experience lethal, close-quarters battles as a member of the elite Red Sabre team and each scenario is designed to emulate the tactics employed by SWAT teams and SOF units in taking down small numbers of dangerous adversaries. Non-linear environments allow for multiple routes, tactics and added replayability. TAKEDOWN: Red Sabre is in development by Serellan, a team of veteran developers who have worked on acclaimed titles in the Ghost Recon, Halo, SOCOM, SWAT and F.E.A.R. franchises. The team is led by Christian Allen, the former creative director of the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise.
The game, which has been rated "M" by the ESRB, will also be available on the Xbox Live® online entertainment network for the Xbox 360® games and entertainment system for $14.99.
505 Games and Serellan announce the Steam pre-order program for TAKEDOWN: Red Sabre which will be released this September 20 for $14.99.
The pre-order features the "Red Sabre Deadly Killhouse" unlock which gives players access to the highly challenging, single-player Tango Hunt map designed by Christian Allen, the TAKEDOWN: Red Sabre's designer and head of Serellan. This map will prep players for MP mode by allowing them to test and refine their load out combinations while perfecting lethal search and destroy skills
Some screenshots.
Regarding the launch issues, see TotalBiscuit's video.
It started as a KS project and got picked up by 505. It doesn't have a big budget. If you visit the KS page they barely got 200K. Small budget for a shooter.
It definitively lacks some color variety.
There is the possibility of a PS3 version but it might be a third-person shooter. Serellan has some Zipper people and some S.O.C.O.M. fans backed it at the start.

Now what am I going to do today? (I was totally going to tag the thread as "IT'S JUSTICE TIME MOTHERFUCKERS!" since 505 is publishing it.)
I checked this out at PAX and it's super fucking cool. The devs are really great guys and are very passionate about getting this game going and with 505 backing it you know it'll be well supported. I've already got it pre-ordered due to my raging boner for Rainbow Six: Ravenshield and Ghost Recon 1.
I wanted to make threads for Klei's Incognita and Armello from the Indie Megabooth one of these days. Pick one of those. :P
Homeworld : Shipbreakers is another option. Hehe.
EDIT: Why "IT'S JUSTICE TIME MOTHERFUCKERS!"?
Because 505 publishes Payday 2 in which it's always CRIME TIME MOTHERFUCKERS!
EDIT: Also to help traffic to the thread by luring in the co-op crowd since this game is primarily a coop vs the level sorta game where teamwork is important.
I wish I had more characters to describe the game in the thread title. Maybe if I remove "Red Sabre" ...
Usually I leave launch dates out of the title and put them into the OP itself. Like, if I was doing this the thread title would be [Takedown: Red Sabre] IT'S JUSTICE TIME MOTHERFUCKERS (Co-op tac shooter goodness!) or something like that and then put all the nitty gritty details into the OP. Hooking people with a catchy thread title is half the battle in drumming up interest. Then the OP would have what the game is about, who's making it, what platforms it'll be on, comparisons to prior games, and so on.
The team info part is especially crunchy:
Serellan LLC, led by veteran game designer and BAFTA Award winner Christian Allen, is a small indie studio made of industry veterans from studios including Red Storm Entertainment, Monolith, Surreal, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Bungie, and others, with extensive experience on games like the original Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon, GR2, GRAW, F.E.A.R., Condemned, Halo: Reach, Drakan, The Suffering, World of Tanks, and more. Also included is a recently retired US SF Operator, with several tours under his belt who, along with Christian Allen’s USMC experience, will bring realism and authenticity toTAKEDOWN.
We also have Rich Douglas, composer, providing the score; Charles Guan providing concept art, and Matt Corboy (of The Shield, L.A. Noir, and The Descendants) signed to voice the Commander.
[Takedown: Red Sabre] Do you like the old Rainbow 6? Ghost Recon? SWAT? Jump in!

realtalk the best times I had at lan parties are always when we poorly played bad rounds of Raven Shield. Even the 1.0 version where everything was extra fucked because they were using like a beta version of Unreal Engine 2.0. So many mistimed grenade throws, shenanigans involving auto shotties with scopes, and rage-banning of "wallhax" (i.e. heartbeat sensors). Alcohol is typically involved. SWAT 4 is second place in tactifail awesomeness.
if theis game can recapture that shit, then I'm so in.

It sounds like it's going to, and even allow truly insane people to run missions solo if you really want to. Apparently there will also be functioning AI teammates for 100% offline play.
Another group wants to make Ghost Recon maps. I saw some models for weapons and a few sketches they made but I can't find the thread.
Shouldn't be all that hard. They'll be able to do whatever the hell they want in Unreal Engine and the weapons look like they'll be pretty adaptable to whatever sort of missions mappers want to make.
I really love the weapon length feature. It's going to make loadout choices a hell of a lot more meaningful for each mission and prevent people from just all rocking assault rifles and calling it a day.
Glad to see a thread for this! Almost broke my lurking silence to make it myself.
I was considering this title:
Welcome back to the thinking-person's shooter. [Takedown: Red Sabre] leans into Steam/XBLA September 20th
Anyways, 2 of my old clan mates and I will be on the X360 version on launch. Feel free to add FLC zeerow to your friends list for the bulleting and such.

What's the weapon length feature?
I keep thinking this looks pretty cool but I'm not inclined to pre-order and having a whole map as an exclusive is kinda lame.
Just started some threads in forums from my old Rainbow Six days to drum up interest and maybe see some familiar gamertags. Really excited to see if this brings players out of the woodwork.
Planning to perfect my lean-walk within hours of launch:

Weapon length actually matters. If you have a long weapon and get close to a wall your weapon will lower and you can't shoot because you don't have room to shoulder your firearm. This means you're not going to want to take gigantic assault rifles and sniper rifles into CQB situations and gives SMGs a very distinct purpose.

This is looking a little rough around the edges, but I'll keep an eye on it for sure. Hopefully they change the suppressor sounds...

Or Rainbow Six: Ravenshield 2, or Ghost Recon 1 - 2. It's the glorious return of the old school tac shooter.

Whoa, my interest for this game just increased tenfold.
This seems like the coolest thing ever when it was featured in Swat 3, but then every tactical shooter since left the feature out.
