So Tycho noted that the Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened game is available for digital purchase on their site. I'm pretty interested in picking this up and when I checked the link the price seemed right.. $29.99 US. However when you actually click the buy link it takes you to a page which charges you 29.99 GBP! Bit of a difference there.. Anyway I would buy it online for the 30 bucks but for 60 bucks I'd rather just wait for the physical box & disk. Anyone know if this is just confusion on the part of the developer? Is there a link where you can actually get it for 30 USD?
I would just like to say that I have never heard of this game before now, but I must have it immediately, as I have been on both a Cthulhu and a Sherlock Holmes kick recently.
However, a google search yields nothing in the way of alternate methods of purchase.
I bought it, and either didn't see what you saw or just clicked through unassumingly. It only charged me 30$ USD. Receipt in my inbox says so, and my bank account confirms.
I'm still downloading so no word as to how awesome it is.
Its probably detecting your ISP is european and screwing you over accordingly :P i'd try buying it from behind a north american based proxy ;-)
I'm in Canada like you, on a sympatico high speed account.. is it quoting you the price in USD? I don't know why it's quoting me GBP, it's pretty bizarre. If other people have been getting quoted GBP and are getting charged USD then I'll just go ahead and buy it, I just don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to get my money back if I get overcharged.
Well, there goes my idea then =0 its quoting me in USD after I click the buy it now .
Okay, I'm guessing this is a problem on my end then.. I'll see if I can buy the license on another connection/box and do the download on this one. Thanks for the input.
For anyone else having a problem with this, this is the relevant part of the email I got from the guys who handle the purchasing:
"Hi,
the price displayed on our website and charged upon purchase is determined by the language settings of the Internet Browser - your browser is probably set to 'English [en-GB]' which will result in the price being British Pounds. If you set the language option to 'English [en-CA]', it should be displayed in USD.
Please note that we only provide the download platform for the game's publisher and do not define the pricing policies."
Why the hell they base the currency they charge you on the language setting of your browser is beyond me, but there you go. Do Chinese users get the game for 30 yuan?
I'm not sure if this is the best place to be mentioning it, but if you're looking for a physical copy of the game, there is a Wal-Mart where I work that has about 4 copies of the game. I'd be willing to pick them up for people who were interested.
