Both major parties have been super dumb this election, something bad was going to happen either way.

Hopefully at least the Liberals manage not to fuck up the national broadband network.

Well part of democracy is accepting a majority decision. This isn't the first nor last time your preferred party will lose. It'll be ok. Who knows what could change in a few years?

I mean the US re elected Bush in 2004 and THAT was a bit of a shock. But they got to Obama 4 years later and the world hasn't ended!

Well yeah, but we've been doing well economically and the Libs austerity measures are going to fuck that up. And we were so close to equal marriage rights...

Looks like the Greens will hold Melbourne.

Some big swings towards independant parties up in Queensland.

Especially Clive Palmer. People don't like Labor because of reasons, people don't like LNP because of Newman, the Greens are pot smoking hippies, and Katter is a racist dickhole. So they all vote Clive.

It's a shame really, because having a hung parliament wasn't a bad thing.

I don't mind the government having to have some degree of negotiation before being able to pass legislation.

An Abbott goverment with control of both houses like Howard had terrifies me. God knows what they'd do with that.

The NBN is gone with this night I feel.

Fun fact: There were 110 options on the ballot for voting in Lindsay (yes, we have Fiona Scott the "Sex appeal" candidate who implied the M4 was slow because of asylum seekers). That's absolutely completely ridiculous. People criticise others for not voting "Below the line", but with 110 people to preference can you blame people for never bothering with this? Plus this seems to be because anyone can end up on this just for turning up and having a pulse it seems (Eg The party who has a candidate that claimed to raise the dead).

If only my citizenship had come through soon enough, but I will be here to vote these liberal assholes out come next election.

The offical AEC Tally currently projects Labor with 54, Libs with 74, Katter's Party with 1, Independents with 1, 20 seats still undecided.

I cannot get over how batshit insane Clive is possibly going to get in.

ABC's virtual parliament looks like a mid 90's FMV adventure game. I love it.

The first time I saw it I immediately thought we need to increase the ABC effects budget.

It's almost bad enough for me to dust off my passport and head down to the high commission.

Except I'm not actually registered to vote. Or, you know, in an electorate. And the high commission closed 4 hours ago.

    Tasmania is a complete bloodbath.

Ha! Despite all of Abbot's bitching, Andrew Wilkie got a 15% swing towards him in his seat.

I suppose it's too much to ask for Bill Shorten to get turfed out. I'm not sure he'll ever get to run for Prime Minister, hopefully even if he does he'll get shot down by people in the party pissed off by his role in knifing Rudd, then Gillard.

But just having him lose his seat would be fine.

  • stimtokolosstimtokolos Registered User regular
Well my seat should at least be retained. Not that it helps.

Hopefully whatever backlash results from Abbott's PMship will have them out in the wilds for multiple terms.

This whole broadcast is falling apart

And Kerry O'Brien doesn't seem to care for Antony at all

  • JintorJintor Registered User regular
    What's with the bloody echo?

  • KelorKelor Registered User regular
It does look as though the Queensland people's loathing of Newman has curtailed losses for Labor.

Any yeah, I noticed that Kerry doesn't seem to like Antony at all.

Yessss, Jaymes Diaz didn't end up winning the seat he was running for.

10% of all the votes made in Greenway were informal.

    That's pretty goddamn telling.

At the polling booth, Labor pulled up with a van with a huge LCD on it playing his disastrous interview on TV constantly. It was quite fitting.

Considering how strong the Libs did this time, they'll have to fuck up monumentally to get booted in three years. The adverse effects their austerity measures are going to have on the economy they can just blame on the Labour party, and their constituents will eat that shit up. Old people don't care about equal marriage rights or the internet, so that won't change next time either.
