Has anybody heard anything regarding the Hannah pin recently?
Nothing so far. I am going to put a couple of questions into the FAQ about the manufacturing lead time, process from concept to Big Box O' Pins, etc. It might help with future Limited runs, and it's also some awesome nerdery knowledge.
News post updated to ask folks to limit orders to 2. I suppose that means honor system, although I'd be highly amused if they punished someone for ordering more by stuffing something extra in their delivery (deer urine scent, for example ;-) ).
I suppose I was thinking they wouldn't bother declaring a limit right now if they were intending to limit it in the cart (in other words, I presumed they would just say no more than 2 per order in the product description), but then again I can see the value of mentioning it early so that no one pops in and declares shenanigans when they see the limit for the first time.
I sincerely hope that it's impossible to grab more than two. Assuming an absolute worst case scenario, that's only five hundred sales, it's going to be a very tight window to get Hanna.
I think they would probably flag orders of > 2 and cancel them.
I have ask Brian(and Gabe on his post) if they were going to make it a limit somehow in the Store. If not someone will majorly abuse the system and get like 100... So I hope you are right with the flag and delete!!

I don't think they'll just allow blatant abuse, it seems to me that it wouldn't be in anyone best interest to try and abuse it because they will likely end up with no pins.
But alas, people with these intentions don't have any problems getting caught, usually the risk is worth the chance of slipping by. So we shall see, I just hope the majority of pins go out to actual collectors.
Also we should keep in mind that a 1000 made is not necessarily a 1000 for sale, so this will be even tighter than 500 orders Argh, it is a bit painful thinking about not getting one!
As if 430am Saturday morning for me I will be tapping the refresh button on the shop.
Also a new contest will be happening for Halloween! details soon :-)
I was checking my calendar for Friday and it turns out that noon PST is right in the middle of a rehearsal for a wedding I'm officiating. Meaning that I'm out of luck! Damn you, human love, for always foiling my plans.
Would anyone be willing to order a pin for me on Friday? I can pay in either cash or trade or both cash and trade for it. Message me if you're willing to help me out! I will do my best to work your name or a phrase of your choice into the ceremony.

On another note, I've noticed that a few people are choosing to forego the trading ideal of Pinny Arcade and have pins, sets, etc available at online auction. I'm not going to link to anything, because I'm not promoting any of that stuff. I'm just alarmed at the kind of prices that are attached.
I love my pins, but they're not something that has a financial value in my head. They're just my pins.
I like to think that even if I ever gave up the hobby I'd find a better way to offload my pins than selling them outright.

I thought so too, until I saw someone (seemingly) successfully sell a complete collection of the current pins for $1000. I mean, damn. That's a lot of money.

Someone was offered $1000 for JUST the DLC pin at PAX Prime... nerds with money man, shit's crazy.

I actually told someone a few weeks ago that if I had the chance to buy a DLC for $1000 I would...and I stand by it. I luckily have someone that found one for me...but they are just going to get rarer as more hardcore collectors finish their sets with them. 2-3 years from now it will be impossible to find them period other then in collections(it almost already is). It may be a lot of money...but rare is rare.
I've made my peace with the DLC pin. It's what dropped me from hardcore to enthusiast. I'm still going to try to get as many pins as I can, but I'm never going to pay above the asking price (on the PA store) for a pin. I just can't afford to. I'm also planning to trade at a strictly one for one rate. Some pins may be rarer than others, but I'm planning to use my rarer trade pins to make sure I get the other pins I want.

Well since it came up, I'll put my piece in and I don't mean this to sound "I'm so great", this is coming from some one who has been in collecting scenes for a very long time, since I was about 7 :P
The reality is there are pins that simply can't be traded 1-for-1, I can understand why people have a hard time with it but this sort of thing will stagnate trading if the community can't come to appreciate rarity values. It is a natural part of any collectable trade and while I completely understand that it is a hard step to take, it is also absolutely crucial the community can take this step. In other collectable scenes this sort of thing is so normal, you wouldn't even blink at the idea. Bartering is really half the fun and it almost feels like we're missing out really
I actually don't understand the hate towards it, collectables aren't valued by quantity, you don't trade a Action Comics #1 for an Action Comics #1029, to me this is just a really bizarre frame of mind, I can't really grasp it to be honest
But I also think this is going to be detrimental to people trying to acquire the rarer pins, the people holding them have no issues waiting, the pins only get rarer as time ticks on, I think really getting hung up on 1-for-1 now is going to be a mistake, you may look back and think "I could have only traded X and Y for that back then, now the going rate is X, Y and Z...ouch!".
I'm not suggesting other Pin Pals take my lead. Just doing whatever mental gymnastics I have to do to keep myself enjoying the hobby and not surrendering to the brain squirrels. Otherwise, before you know it I'll be that guy who offers somebody a ridiculous amount just to get my hands on a 2012 Merch.

It's easiest to say 12pm PST. Use the time zone where the event happens. One time, and then everyone can self-correct.

Let's see what happens.
Always looking to trade.
Edit: Screw it, I'll just stay up all night Friday playing Battlefield and Terraria then crash as soon as my order is placed.

I got a response from Brian.
Hopefully they will have way to limit by Friday.
