For all those who reserved a room through on-peak and are still waiting for a confirmation email:
I sent an email to the on-peak contact info that is listed on the "error" page asking if my confirmation went through for the Westin. This is what they said:

Hello,

extremely vague, but extremely hopeful! I mean it sounds like all is good but I STILL have yet to receive an actual confirmation email. I rply'd back saying that and making sure they had my right email address.
For anyone who is international and having problems;
It appears you can fake it out with a bogus address and afterwards it will let you edit that info. Obviously do this at your own risk, but looking at my confirmed reservation on their site and it lets you edit everything after the fact form CC info to address.
It all went through, everything is ok, 3 rooms at the omni parker.

FYI, for those looking for confirmations (for both hotels and tickets)..I know this is probably a no brainer, but check your spam folders/junk mail. Showclix, at least, got a red warning from my mail provider (not passing fraud detection) and I had to jump through hoops to approve it.
Renaissance Boston Waterfront is about to have an opening as soon as their customer service answers the phone. I'm not wasting extra money for three single day passes. I have said this over and over again. Boston isn't big enough for this event any longer. It hasn't been for the last three years. and FYI the entire onpeak site is down. I called them to cancel my reservation and they couldn't even cancel it cause they couldn't get on.
Boston isn't big enough? Whaaaaat? Boston is one of the biggest cities in the country, and there are still PLENTY of badges left - and likely will be for days. What, do you think all PAX's should be limited to Las Vegas?
Further, if you were to buy 3 one-day badges, it'd cost you an extra 45 dollars. I know for a FACT that you're spending about 2 grand for that hotel (if you booked it) alone, because I'm booked there as well. If $45 is the difference between you going and not, then you shouldn't have considered going.
No I booked through OnPeak magically. only 717 dollars splitting it 4 ways. And single day passes wont be around for a few days. more like 2 days. Also, yeah it would be nice to move it to Vegas. Weather is nicer in April and it can for sure handle the amount of people. The lines to do anything in the expo hall on Saturdays are way too long sometimes even cut off seconds after opening the doors. So its time to let this thing grow instead of trying to pack more people into the same space that was over filled already. I love PAX but not enough to be crammed into convention hall and stand around for 2 hours to get to play a 5 minute demo of a game while all the press people still get to cut all the lines. So have fun for those of you who love it, my hat is off to all of you who can stand doing it. I'm bowing and never to return.
I was able to fix it by going back to the full site and editing the credit card after I submitted a different month.
EDIT: First, submit a different month (I submitted 10). Then go back and edit the credit card on the full site. They won't charge you card for a while...it's just a place holder for the reservation.

This isn't really the place for this discussion honestly...BUT...Whether in Boston, Vegas, Orlando, Seattle....it doesn't matter. The lines that you are complaining about will get capped and cut off just as quick. It's called demand. If you think a bigger venue, and MORE people are going to help this then you have a strange way of looking at things.
Also same thing goes with the Passes. It is supply and demand. I get that OnPeak got totally crushed and everything was crashing and that was very frustrating...I GET that, but complaining about the extra prices of the tickets doesn't help anyone. Other then the people who will inherit your room and will get the passes you would have gotten because they will be thankful to even get those things.
It is just frustrating to see people complain about how busy it is, and how hard it is to go to things...and then justify it by saying 'lets make it bigger'. You WILL have the same issues because that just means that even more people will go and pack the place even worse.

vegas would defeat the point of an east coast con. The only other big con we get on the east coast is comic con but due to it being in oct it barely gets anything cool

The BCEC is massive. I'm not sure there are many expo halls in the country that could say that are that much larger for floor space. Having been to expo's up and down the East coast the waterfront district of Boston is probably one of, if not the best one there is.

as we said , Orlando would be better . Larger convention center and a massive amount of hotels in the area plus there is more touristy things to do
So I just booked at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport, anyone have experience with that particular hotel? Seems like it wouldn't be a bad deal with reasonably easy access to the Silver Line, but the fairly large chunk of rooms still there has me nervous it's not as convenient as it sounds/looks.
(Wish I could say I'm back at the Westin for the fourth year in a row, but I guess I should consider myself lucky to get a room there the three years I did.)
Has anyone stayed in the Omni Parker? I ended up booking that due to distance and I'm wondering if it's any good or not.

I stayed at the Hilton Logan Airport the first night of Pax last year. It's a great hotel and the silver line is very convenient. However, the Silver line does not run very late. I cannot remember when it stops, but you should keep this in mind.
I have the hotels page refreshing every 10 seconds. ALMOST managed to get a room at the Seaport, but I was in the middle of getting a spot at the Renaissance so I couldn't cancel it quick enough.
Oh well, at least I got a booking at the Renaissance now and canceled the Omni... still one bed, but here's to hoping better things keep opening up. This is like playing hot potato.

The Omni Parker House is one of Boston's nicest, oldest hotels. You'll enjoy your stay there for sure. If you like Boston Creme Pie at all, they invented it, so you can try a slice at their restaurant. Unsurprisingly, it is excellent.

It's also right in the middle of the historical trails of boston, so if you want to be able to walk to the Boston bars and landmarks it's very nice. Plus shuttle pickup is nice. I'm staying there for the second year in a row and I'm not dissapointed.

Not really. A lot of people local to New England drive down/stay with friends and go to PAX. Orlando is primarily a tourist city, so while you have a possibility of making it better for people flying in, people from the most populous area of the east coast (barring NYC) will have it decidedly worse.
Hubs was able to get us both 3 day badges, took him about 2 hours to get through the hotel site and only the Hyatt was available by that point but we're pleased. Most of our group was able to get badges except one

Booked the Revere for my crew. Anyone know how well a quad room will fit 5? I've got one person who's iffy but a possibility for us.

Having stayed at both, I'd say keep the Ren. It had amazing service and the walk is about the same.

The only reason I wanted to get Seaport over the Ren was the free Wi-Fi. My 3G sucks and tethering won't do me any good. But if it's a good hotel I probably won't mind too much, as long as I can have Internet, no matter how slow.

I stayed at the revere last year with 5 and it was definitely comfortable! Our room had a balcony and the hotel itself was very nice. You will not be disappointed

Makes sense. Just remember that free WiFi has high potential to get saturated by a bunch of PAX attendees who will all likely be wanting on it, whereas putting a fee in front of it might dissuade some from using it and could be a better experience overall. (Despite the ridiculous price they put on access at these hotels.)

My experience with paid internet at the Westin is that it was still slow and choppy. Would go in an out quite frequently.
