Mmmmmm, smell that? That crisp woody smell as leaves lose their vigor and are slowly wept to the ground by their trees? The cyclical death of nature that heralds the beginning of Fall is also the harbinger of new network TV! Hooray! Are you ready for a fresh batch of ridiculous pilots vying desperately for our attention? Here are a few choice morsels:
Sleepy Hollow
Let me just say that Sleepy Hollow is possibly the best and worst series of ideas for a show that I have ever heard. It is basically an exact representation of one of the fake shows that will get played for laughs on a different show with a fake series of promo scenes. Here is a quick breakdown:
- Ichabod Crane was a soldier for George Washington tasked with killing a magical Hessian soldier. He cuts off his head and is also killed in battle by him.
- Turns out, They both wake up in 2013 and rise from their graves.
-
Turns out, Crane gets a sassy black cop partner to hunt the horseman down.
-
Turns out,Sleepy Hollow is now full of actual witches, both good and bad
-
Turns out, The Horseman is
actually one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse (Death, natch)
He's an undead figure from folklore, she's a streetwise cop with an attitude. Together, they fight crime (and also the Apocalypse).
If ever there was a train wreck to watch, this show is it.

This is also an ambitious project, but somewhat more subdued. Do you remember when you were watching I, Robot starring Will Smith (if you haven't what are you doing with your life?) and you thought "Man, this is the height of cinematic endeavor, but I kind of wish this concept could be a buddy police procedural tv show as well."
Well, my friend, you are in luck! The exact plot of I, Robot has been turned into a police show, starring Karl Urban as Will Smith! The initial trailer looks pretty good, but I'm not sure if the concept will be able to stand up under its own weight.

So Andy Samburg is starring in a new comedy police procedural, and the initial stuff looks pretty good! I really like Samburg and this seems like a really good fit for him. It's also got Andre Braugher as his straight man police chief, and I am pretty pumped about that.

Fox is back in a new comedy that is about his character returning to work (as a television news guy) after being diagnosed with Parkinson's. Betsy Brandt of Breaking Bad fame plays his wife. It looks like it might be pretty ok, but I'm not sure how much life there is in the concept. But hey, it's Michael J Fox so it will at least be charming as hell.

I'm going to add a few more shows to this, and if there is something you think people should be excited about, post the info in the thread and I'll look over it and evaluate and then eventually not do anything because I am lazy.
Agents of Shield
Agents of Shield is highly anticipated by fans of good things that are good. I'm a little concerned about Clark Gregg carrying a show by himself, as he always seems to be a great person to play off of, rather than getting the center of everyone's attention. I'm hopeful!

But I'm not sure how the show is going to run week to week either. Maybe they start arresting witches! Who knows!?
Because

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

I think your phone must have autocorrected "awesome" to "awful"

It was my brain that autocorrected.
It seriously sounds like a pitch for a late season Supernatural episode that the showrunners passed on for being too goddamn much.

Is Agents of SHIELD looking good? I was interested until it was described as Marvel NCIS, which makes me want to fall asleep.
Probably unnecessary to add because everyone on earth is already gonna watch it!
I'd comment on that, but I feel like this is probably a perfectly normal amount of new cop shows, and I just happen to be aware of more of them due to coincidence.
While probably true, there's always got to be that little voice in your head going "It's a Joss Whedon show on TV, how are they going to fuck this one up", so we'd better make sure to promote it as much as possible. It won't make the voice go away, but I can drown it out by watching the trailer.
I don't need any more police procedurals after Luther.
I'll still give a couple of those a shot, since those actors are really good at doing what they're doing in those trailers.
In the third episode coulson is given the personality of a pop star.
The Blacklist is another ridiculous show that looks both terrible and amazing
Also HBO has a new sitcom coming out starring Stephen merchant, Helloe Ladies. I basically love all HBO sitcoms except for bored to death, which I could never get into, so pumped for this

do you guys like TV
also I am predicting that I will hate-watch Sleepy Hollow for three episodes before I tap out
Just hope it finds its feet a little quicker than Parks and Rec did.
I have too much old stuff to catch up on still!
Also this is next spring, not fall, but I just found out they're bringing back 24 and I can't stop laughing for some reason
sweet sweet Bear.
Likewise with Agents of SHIELD!

Long as we don't get a repeat of that Watchtower cover, I'm good
though I'm gonna wait for that one to wrap up so I can go through it all on Netflix
look let's just say I got a lot on my plate and leave it at that
Finishing Supernatural may be difficult as it is not yet finished itself.
He's doing pretty damn well for himself for a guy who got his first real break on Xena.
You don't have to watch all of Fringe
There's a point where you can just stop watching Fringe and start making up shit in your head about what happens next and no matter what it is it will be better than what Fringe actually did
You will know it when you get there

Kinda surprised I didn't know about this
fictional chronology intrigues me
