You know the only thing I'm disappointed about with this game is that driving is so precise you can't actually drift at all unless you have a specialised car. Even powersliding doesn't work half the time because the cars will suddenly jerk sideways coming out of it with only a brief touch, causing you to jump a lane unexpectedly and crash into something.
The extra...I don't really know the word how to describe this because it's such an arcadey thing...the unnaturally high grip you have on the road means that the brake will turn into a full on reverse really quickly, so it's difficult to use the brake precisely to try and stop a fishtail because you'll start going backwards and make it worse.
Half the time it's easier to just use that and do a full 360.
It's really awkward.
GTA IV was too extreme, but this is too damn clerical and business like. Driving for accountants. A to B and who cares about having fun in between playing around with it.
I hear the futo can still slide like a mofo tho. I really need to find me one of those.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
The random events are one of my favorite things about this game. They make the game feel alive. That's one of the problems I had with GTA 4. It looked great, and there were things happening in the city, but it felt like nothing really happened to you unless you made it happen. Red Dead redemption was the first to really use a lot of random events, and I felt it made that game seem much more lifelike. Kind of ironic that a city filled with people felt so lonely, but the Mojave desert felt like it was filled with life.
Then again, maybe that's a pretty accurate description of New York.
Do those random events happen again? I know I've taken down purse theives at lease twice in one area. And stole the bag out of security vans a few times now.
They respawn, I had a drunk couple out in the boonies needing a ride home, I got them in the car and accidentally fired my weapon out the window when trying to change the radio (this has actually happened to me in real life SO many times), and they jumped out and ran off. Later that same couple spawns again and I succeeded.

@jdarksun I just saw your bulletin and according to the Social Club, I show WANG as an active crew. So am I square? The Club roster/spreadsheet lists me as "not present" though honestly I'm not clear on what this implies.
Franklin betraying either one of those guys just felt wrong to me. So I choose C and was prepared for an 'everybody dies' ending. Instead I got the 'you know what, let's fucking kill all these assholes who've been fucking with us' ending I so desperately wanted.

So I was reading a four year old article on a site, cause I needed a quote. I get to the end of the article and completely unrelated to the content of the article, top comment, first thing I see after finishing the last sentence, is a smug laughing spoiler for the end of GTA 5.
So, regarding 100% completion and the checklist on the Social Club.
Many of the Miscellaneous things I've done haven't counted towards the 16 needed to get 100%. I need two left to do, and the only two I have left to do are Knife Flight x8 and Stunt Jump x25. The Stunt Jumps are self-explanatory, even if I'm going to have a rough time finding all of them.
What gets me is the Knife Flight requirement. Pretty sure I've Knifed a lot more than just 8 times total. Can anyone elaborate on why it's so picky?
XBL, PSN, and NNID: "ConnConnor" for all three.

There's a guy that needed a ride to the airport.
I crashed into a tree about halfway so hard that it bent the wheels and the car would only go about 30mph and constantly tried to swerve.
We get almost to the airport and somehow my bent ass car that is now near impossible to drive manages to slide up the side of a bridge barrier and I fall down into a lower area. The gps tells me to go the long way around and I decide to just bull it out because time was almost up. I get up to the top of a hill and there's a chain link fence. My car could not get enough speed to break the fence, so I threw a sticky bomb at it a distance away and detonated it.
It wasn't enough distance.
In the slow mo I clearly see the guy I picked up go flying out of the car as the explosion flips it end over end, tearing the door of the car off and ripping him out of his passenger seat. He's on fire and is contorted into...let's just say "a shape". It's not a healthy shape.
I respawned at the hospital and tried again.
Guy was fine. This time I drove a bit more carefully.

yeah I got a futo from a parking lot of repair shop, fully pimped out it can certainly drift really great. my only issue is franklin's ability breaks drifting pretty badly, triggering mid-slide causes the car to like... auto correct or something. I like how they handled slo-mo driving but it feels a little like they cheated somehow, I can't put my finger on it.
ah well makes races way easier, I banged out all the off-road races as franklin to take advantage of it too.

For some reason I never expected
"all of them to die" in that scenario. I'm not sure why, maybe it just didn't seem to fit the tone of the game? Or perhaps it had to do with all the talks about loyalty.
Can't quite place it, or perhaps it was because it was so blatantly labeled "Deathwish" ;-) That I realized "yeah, it's not gonna be that.."
I want a whole dlc of stock manipulation via the take out of corporate scum. It's so fun.

Boat question
Is it possible to get a submersible and/or dinghy parked at the Vespucci marina slip so that I don't have to start out those quests from the damn sonar place all the time?
I don't think so, but those missions can both be banged out in like 20-30 minutes. the dinghy missions are so damn good. I wish they had more underwater stuff in the story.
I find them really boring and both vehicles seem to go so damn slow
all the more reason to do them all at once and never touch them again! seriously though, swimming around underwater and exploring was way more fun that I expected. everytime I start to get used the how good this game looks, it surprises me again.
Missions where you have to follow someone real slow without getting too close should be banned from videogames forever.
there is one arms running mission
in the plane, where you have to fly really low the whole time. i wanted to choke someone the fifth time i slammed into a mountain because of that horseshit.
really excited for GTA online, got my 5 days of PTO. confirmed gonna be rolling hard all week, barring any launch snafus.
I was wondering if the life invader discounts would apply to online purchases so I haven't done them yet, though apparently it's much easier to earn cash online.

it would be sad if it went hand in hand with "and things cost a lot more also"
I'm still not entirely clear on what online consists of, just random instances of missions and whatnot? Or are we doing actual Team Deathmatch stuff against other crews?

I think they've said property and houses are cheaper (the most expensive player house is suppose to be $400k) where as guns and car mods are more expensive.
we have to wait a bit for heists..which I'm kinda sad about. Since that's what I'm looking forward to most. But I surmise I'll have quite a bit of fun with the character creator and I enjoyed deathmatch in GTA IV (which I found surprising).

related but not completely, I do hope with housing - it isn't just nice "Playstation Home" type houses/apartments we can get and we can get like run-down factories or something of that variety.

In this one you have to apply just the right amount of brake pressure or you're either going to not make it or stop completely.

I found one outside a hospital in the south-east part of the city. A few blocks east of the strip club.
If you can't find the hospital go near the strip club and kill yourself.
That sounds like I'm insulting you but it's actually serious advice. :P

Granted we'll see in a few days.
Also, why can't I jump in a police car and get missions anymore? That, oddly, bothered me.

well... trevor has bounty hunter missions, and you could certainly do them in a cop car if that is your thing.
