If the boxed CE adds no digital stull and only art and other rubbish then the Digital Deluxe is for me. I still haven't looked at any of that stuff from the first CE. Glad I retained over $100 in blizzbucks.
I don't really care about the in game gear, and unless that pet is going to help my zombie dogs kill stuff it gets put on the "don't care" list as well. Mouse pads too are pretty meh.
But damnit, I do love me some art books.
Anyone want to buy the CE for the other stuff, and sell me the art book?
No, I got the d3 CE. I'd say that was a better value than this stuff
though I did forget that recent wow expansions had done it this way
But it was the same amount of stuff!
Right-ish. It was easy to justify digital bonuses + dvd + soundtrack + art + skull w/ thumb drive for $20 extra
Here it's adding mouse pad a some digital aesthetics, but it's $40 extra
edit: unless I'm misremembering. Was d3 CE $100?
Actually, you're right. I was wrong. I didn't realize that there's no OST with the RoS CE; I just assumed there was since it's standard. That's fucking strange. The last time a Blizzard CE didn't come with a soundtrack was The Frozen Throne expansion for Warcraft 3 in 2003.
This is actually the least bang-for-buck CE they've ever had.
I could say I won't buy the digital deluxe version.
I could say that.
I could say I won't buy the CE version.
I could say that.
But like Forver Zefiro I'm a fucking idiot so I'll buy it anyway, despite the fact that it is the most pathetic Blizzard CE offering ever. I gotta catch 'em all, after all.
I am a slave to exclusive in-game unlocks so I have to buy the CE pretty much regardless of what the unlock is (unless it was a banner sigil or something). I bought the HotS CE just for the stupid Kerrigan wings.
It has always been an awful stat that caters specifically to greed and the most interesting possible decision you make is how much you are willing to sacrifice gear that actually makes you more powerful in order to reward the gambling jackpot portion of the play experience.
I always thought that's exactly why it was so interesting. How much am I willing to sacrifice to keep getting good stuff? At what point to I have to sacrifice getting good stuff to actually boost my stats so I can get stuff at all? D3 is a game about getting loot not killing monsters and the MF stat was a really neat part of that. If you didn't like it you could just not pay attention to MF and everything works out fine. Removing the thing wholesale just seems like a huge amount of unnecessary work.
The problem is it's not a fun choice. It's basically pitting the two main reward systems of the game (ie - loot and being awesome) against one anthoer. Wear more MF to get more gear that is so awesome but you won't wear cause it doesn't have MF on it.
It's just a terrible system even in concept. It encourages having less fun overall and in the immediate for a small boost in loot rain. Of loot that you probably won't even use because, again, no MF on it.
Choices that are attractive but overall less fun are exactly the kind of thing you should excise from your game design.

But you're $20 less of a moron than I am if you get the Digial Deluxe.
There are always holdouts for expansions. Be it money or stubbornness. As long as they don't overcharge for this, I can't see why you wouldn't want to upgrade.
Is $40 overcharging? Because that's how much RoS will cost.

I am compelled to buy the boxed CE because I have the boxed CE of vanilla. My OCD compels me.
Does transmog change the item slot, or the item? So do I change my helmet to always look a certain way, or do I need to change the transmog every time I get a new helmet?

On March 25, the crusade against death itself charges forth with the launch of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls for Windows and Mac. Prepare for the onslaught today by prepurchasing the expansion digitally on Battle.net.
Whether you plan to immediately don the armor of the new Crusader character or take your current hero directly into Act V, Reaper of Souls will bring you updated loot rewards, all-new class skills and abilities, game-changing features like the Mystic and Adventure Mode, and highly replayable content in the form of Bounties and Nephalem Rifts.
You also have the option to prepurchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, which contains a wealth of in-game goodies: a collection of exclusive helm- and weapon-transmogrification recipes to distinguish your hero among the champions of Sanctuary; a loyal Spectral Hound minion to keep your adventurers company on their epic journeys; three additional character slots to accommodate new heroes; an in-game Treasure Goblin companion pet for World of Warcraft; and an assortment of Crusader-themed Battle.net portraits and Malthael-themed decals for StarCraft II.
It's ridiculous that someone who doesn't buy the DD/CE won't even be able to have one of each class in SC + HC. Unless they're increasing the base characters slots to 12 and it just hasn't been noted anywhere, and the DD folk will be getting bumped up to 15. I'd like 15 character slots...
They forgot to compensate familiar attack speed for electrocute's "twice the speed, half the dmg" property. Effectively doubling the dmg of familiar, which coupled with the cannoneer rune does 220% AoE dmg.

Yeah, if it's not 12 slots for based RoS, they are nickle-and-diming us. Which is bullshit as they've been good about not doing that shit for the most part.
...Whelp. Popped my head into the AH again. And came out with a 900 dps dagger, for what I assume must have been a mislisted 50,000g. Either that or the guy didn't really know what he had.
In comparison, my previous weapon was another AH grab, a 140 dagger. The damage stat has jumped from around 2000 to 13,000.
At least the rest of Nightmare shouldn't be much of a problem .

900 DPS isn't that crazy, he wouldn't have got much more than 50k from it, even at the current rate of inflation. Still a good find for you, nice DPS upgrade.
So the closed beta and PTR are still down because they are somehow tied to general Bnet issues instead of strictly D3... which all ties back into the fact that apparently they weren't prepared for the crush of people wanting to pre-order the beta.
I have yet to EVER see Blizz fully comprehend and OVER-compensate and always, ALWAYS, blow each and every time resources are needed for a launch of something.
I sometimes wonder if anybody at that company in their IT department has any clue or if they just enjoy trolling everybody including their own company.

This might come as a shock to you, but maintaining 24/7 uptime on a closed beta is not that important. Over-compensating with their server infrastructure is a waste of money for circumstances that are only going to occur very rarely, that's why nobody ever does it.

Did you guys gloss over the fact that the digital deluxe edition comes with three additional character slots?
Even though it's bullshit, I'd say it's worth the extra $20. Of course, the $20 on top of that for the CE is actual complete and utter bullshit.
And yeah additional character slots... man I really only play my one witch doctor.
If they're leaving it 10 chars for everyone else, that's pretty disappointing
Yeah. The CE is the DD plus a mouse pad, art book and behind the scenes dvds.
Just because we're friends I will offer you a discount of $10 / 1 new character slot

What about ladder, nonladder? Softcore, hardcore?
HC and SC characters, you need 12 to have enough to have a character of each.
I'm almost CERTAIN it will be 12 for everyone and 15 for CE's/DD's.
Also, I just put the pre-order in for my boxed CE on Amazon.
