Okay, yeah. That's much more like what I was looking for in a Dead Rising The setting still feels a bit drained of life and monotone, but eh, it's just a small trailer. The mood definitely seems to be there though. This could certainly push me toward getting an XB1 sooner than later if the launch stuff all goes well.
I think it is more matching the lighting / feel of a town like this, as opposed to a mall or a casino.
Because it is a much bigger playground, I am hoping there is a mall, casino or somewhere similarly garish and bright in this town that you can romp through, just for contrast.
I'm probably the only one who noticed, but running while shooting still looks like shit.
Well tbf, if you're playing Dead Rising and not using melee weapons all the time... you may be doing it wrong. :P

does that mean just titanfall, or sequels? it seems to me it could be interpreted either way
Zampaella straight up said on Twitter that it just means this title, and that EA made the deal and just told them after the fact. He states expect future titles on the PS4, but because of the deal, Titanfall 1 wouldn't be one of them.

I wonder how much trouble he is going to get into for that frowny face - the rest of his tweets have been becoming progressively more pro EA and pro MS since then...
I also don't know if he is even allowed to talk about sequels to a game that has not launched yet - there is no ink on paper or funding or anything to state what will happen.
I think people in these positions should know better than to hop on Twitter and liveblog when your livelyhood (and the team who works for you's livelyhood) is at stake.

he also followed up the sequel comment by saying that right now all focus is making Titanfall as good as they possibly can. he's not saying that they're already working on a sequel, but would you really expect them to have not at least thought about it?

It's their IP, he can talk about the fucking HBO miniseries if he wants to.
It's their IP, but he apparently has to bin all of the PS4 work he has been doing because contracts.
Yes, I know who the guy is, and I am really looking forward to this game. He is also not in total control of where Titanfall goes, as the past few hours have clearly demonstrated.
He is talking multiplatform for a sequel for an exclusive game that isn't even out yet, and diminishing what was a multi-million dollar contract hours after the ink was wet on twitter. He is being dumb.

Dumbish. Making people grumpy with the publisher rather than the game maker might make those grumpy people less likely to arrange boycotts and post angry rants. Everyone already hates EA, they couldn't hate them any more. It could easily be that EA says in its agreements, "Blame us in PR if you have to do anything annoying to the consumer"

There is a big difference between telling people that EA sucks, and telling people to wait for the sequel if you own a PS4.
That second message is the kind of shit that damages contracts and could lead to messy arbitration.

I'm still not entirely convinced you realize who you're talking about, and his long history of telling his publisher exactly what he thinks, very publicly, and at times rather profanely.

Ehh; I am not coming at this from a gaming perspective. I have dealt with contracts a lot over the years, involving large entities. I really like the games this guy makes and I can't help but look at his tweets and see behavior that would have been written into any kind of exclusivity contract as restricted, possibly even a breach of contract. Somebody spent millions of dollars for a feather in their cap, and one of the guys they spent millions on is publicly diminishing that investment at the moment.

plus he acted like he had no idea but I imagine these are the kinds of things he really should have been aware of. I mean did he not read the contract or something?
It honestly feels like there's an industry-wide attempt to sabotage the XB One. Even Microsoft is in on it. They just can't catch a break. It's one bad PR moment after another.
What should be considered a coup de grace for MS having locked down a major next-gen franchise has somehow turned against them as EA and MS are demonized for taking away control from the creators.

I wouldn't see why Microsoft would be demonized for this. Console exclusives, especially at launch like this are nothing new at all. EA not telling the people making the game on the other hand... That can't look good. But honestly, I would say MS is mostly in the clear.

A lot of that is the fact that online jibber jabber is a snowballing thing. Get on the bad side for doing something actually stupid, fully expect to be viewed as negatively as possible in every single situation, no matter how minor or innocuous, until somebody else fucks up and the fingers point elsewhere.

Somehow the giant corporation coming in with the big sack of money is never in the clear when people get screwed over.
I mean, I agree that MS should be in the clear here, kinda hard to fault them for not asking "Hey, you've run this past the IP owners first, yeah?", I just don't think that's how the chips will fall.

Its not an industry thing, Microsoft has just had a really bad time handling the press with the X1. Just look at this week. We have rumors of parts of the X1 OS crashing, Live services not working, and 720p games. Rather than being upfront with people about things, they keep sweeping them under the rug which simply adds fuel to the fire.
Meanwhile, Sony has been fairly upfront about system issues (from flat out telling people that their PS3 wireless headsets won't work to informing them which features aren't going to be available at Launch on the PS4) so that when they don't answer a question (see how they avoided giving an answer to COD 1080p) people assume the best rather than the worst.
Microsoft needs to be more honest in dealing with the public, because as long as the go "Deny, Deny, Deny" people are going to speculate like mad. The Internet loves rumors, after all.

I wonder if that's the right way to look at it though: for a while, Sony flat-out avoided specifics on the PS4, particular when it came to OS functionality and their new social network aspects, while Microsoft came out and flooded the press with details. And everyone hated Microsoft for it. Now Microsoft avoids talking about things, and people are still unhappy. The narrative became, "Microsoft reveals function, explains deeply how it works, people complain; Sony reveals function (sometimes very similar function), refuses or obviously avoids commenting on how it works, people are happy." The necessity for the PS4 to be always connected for remote online functions comes to mind.
I'm not claiming MS handled PR better (quite the contrary), but "being upfront" hasn't done them well at all, at least from my perspective. For Sony, skirting around the issues was a major part of their reveal, and it seemed to do them well. "If you're going to lie, lie well," I guess. Sony is much better at that.
I don't think Sony lied, I just think they never brought up specifics until they were finalized.
Which is the smartest move of all, really.
In which case, they were much better at avoiding talking about it. Microsoft evades the details, and people are unhappy. Sony evades, and people are pleased. It's a powerful narrative game, one that MS did very poorly in.

Uhhh, ... how else would remote online functions work?
It seems like common sense--then again, assuming the gaming community had an abundance of common sense was an obvious mistake.
