I adore Radiohead, but I have more than a few friends who just don't enjoy them. They weren't terribly popular for quite a long time, I'm not sure what earned them wider appeal exactly, but their tendency toward "experimental" sound certainly put people off.
Out of curiosity, those of you who don't like Radiohead: Do you also dislike Sigur Ros?
I was hugely into Radiohead when I was a teenager and I still like listening to a couple of their albums but I always felt like they peaked with Ok, Computer and it's been downhill from there. The last couple of albums I haven't even paid attention to.

I'm an old man, I graduated in '85, so my music tastes have been influenced by that time frame. I don't like the sound of Radiohead and can't really put a finger on why. As for Sigur Ros? Never heard of them until just now, so I fired them up on Youtube for some quick listening and their not bad just not my cup of tea, but I would listen to them over Radiohead.

They're not in the same class at all, but they do some more "experimental" stuff and are also on Rocksmith.
Also, I highly recommend them live if ever you get the chance, even if you don't love them. That shit is something else.
Radioheads gotten more popular on the internets I think because of how they've interacted with their fans and such. Not to long ago you could get their album for whatever you wanted to pay. And the experemental electronic stuff fits in I guess. For me, I dug radio head in the 90's. Some great songs, with great sound, and I always loved the story behind the song Iron Lung. But I'm not sure I've liked anything they've done in the last 10 years. I believe they have one of their newer songs in game. I know I just hovered over it, listened for a few seconds and thought "Shitty new radiohead I guess" I haven't listened to a lot of their newer stuff, but what I have heard hasn't clicked. OK computer or whatever was probably their last good album fo rme, and I want to say that was hit and miss for me.
I would say Creep is almost guaranteed though. It'll sell just because it's popular.
Radiohead's High and Dry is from '95 (before Ok Computer). Even if you don't like their new stuff, you definitely can't sling "Shitty new Radiohead" at that one.

Also, it's fun as shit to play.
High and Dry is in Rocksmith. Don't they have a new song in RS 2014?
*EDIT* yup I was right. Paranoid Android. The guitar sounds like it might be fun, but I've never dug the sound of the song. That album had a few tracks I liked on it (believe one of the singles) and I didn't like the sound they were heading to that all the critics praised at the time.

Ah, Goblidegook or however it's spelled... I did not enjoy that song, but hey I'm open to listening to new stuff even if I don't like it. Also, I'm more open to trying to PLAY stuff I'm not a fan off as I can always learn something.
Eh, I don't know what they were going for. I can see some influence from that song in a band I love, Muse. It just goes on far to long and sounds whiney, I dunno. To me it just goes on with this meloncoly sound it has, and maybe it's a story they're trying to tell, but it just kind of drags for me. This is where radiohead got weird for me, yet started getting hugely popular.
But as I was watching the video for Paranoid Android, I thought of a band we need in this game that I'm surprised we don't have. Coheed and Cambria. I know we all got tired of Welcome Home in Rockband, but now we'd have a real guitar to play it on!
*edit* Graduated in 99, I grew up on Grunge what can I say It's why this is my favorite song out at the moment. This is the soft loud dynamic that Made nirvana so big and they stole from the Pixies.
EDIT 2
So, I've been listening to this bands album, I would take some songs from them. They have this bluesy sound to a lot of their songs, and this one song Take it as it comes, is like a cross between reggae and blues. His voice sounds just like Bob Marley at times.

Radiohead is as fascinating as they are frustrating. When you look at their music chronologically, it's fairly astute to say that they peaked at OK, Computer - if you consider them a "Rock Band." That album is a transition point for them, and it is a brilliant piece of work that has heavily influenced music for the past 15 years or so. It is also probably their last traditional Rock Album, and even then that's stretching it quite a bit, as "Fitter, Happier" is anything but traditional.
After OK, Computer's success Tom Yorke had a vision for what music could become - a wild crazy place without the traditional confines of modern rock music. This was the impetus behind their next album Kid A, which was a dramatic departure for the band, and is so far forward in it's thinking and style, that even today as we live in a Post-OK Computer world, no one is even close to Post-Kid A. The closest thing I can think of is the post-Rock genre, which seems to be nipping at its heels more than running ahead of it.
Sadly, None of their later albums would be able to match the emotional depth of OK Computer nor the creative brilliance of Kid A. Those two serve as almost exhaustive works for the band, and the albums that have come afterwards have been shadows of those two masterpieces. I enjoy their work both pre and post Kid A, but it's not wrong to say that those two works are the pinnacle of what the band can produce.
Gave Coheed and Cambria and listen and didn't care much for them. Liked the Folksy sound of the Decemberists. Okkervil River, Rilo Kiley and Spoon isn't my type of music either. Wilco was interesting and I may listen to more.

Now that's something I can behind, though for some reason the guy's voice is just shy of annoying for me which is strange as I like some pretty high falsetto voices at times.
It's definitely not their experimentalism -- I like some pretty out there stuff (like, say, Captain Beefheart and Sonic Youth's SYR series). As of recent I've been listening to Pavement mostly. I dunno, something about the band's music just doesn't click with me. I'd be willing to concede that I haven't listened to enough to really get into it.

What Rilo Kiley were you listening to? The Execution of All Things is my favorite.
Okkervil is admittedly sort of a personal taste sort of thing, although Black Sheep Boy is pretty incredible.
Spoon took the minimalism of The White Stripes and made it even more awesome. Kill the Moonlight has some impressive stuff on it.

Had no clue where to go with Rilo Kiley so I took the fist YouTube and listend to Silver Lining. Listened to Execution of all things and still really isn't my thing, not bad mind you, just not something I'd go to.
Okkervil I think is to mellow and again I'm having issues with the singers voice.
Tried Spoon's Kill the Moonlight and listened to The Way we Get By and again, not my style.
After they do the Django Reinhardt song pack (I can dream, can't I?), I wouldn't mind more R.E.M., preferably from the original IRS albums (i.e. nothing later than Document; and if they wanted to stop with Dead Letter Office or Lifes Rich Pageant I wouldn't object too strongly). And then some Richard Thompson, please.
I've heard there's some overarching epic story that alltheir albums tell when put together, but I could care less for that. Their songs are catchy as fuck, have some great guitar and drum lines, and I love the singers voice.
But everybody has to pretend that their opinion is objectively right because this is the Internet.
yeah, i should say that these are just my opinions/feelings on the matter. They are not some objective truth, and if you disagree that's perfectly fine. Not all music is created or can be experienced equally, either. There will be times in your life where a song at a particular moment has profound meaning that simply can't be replicated or understood outside of that context.
On a related note, I should say that learning how to play guitar has given me a greater appreciation for a wider variety of music than I would have had otherwise. That was a neat unintended consequence.

Anything but Creep, please.
Not only is it from the worst Radiohead CD, it's also their most boring song to play.
4 chords all day long.
It'd be like putting Blues Traveler -- Run Around up. G - C - Am - D until you die or fall asleep.
I don't much care for them
Nor am I, they just have a few songs I enjoy.

We're going to have to agree to disagree here. Although your musical taste is clearly broken. :P

They are enjoyable, but they are Radiohead's The Tempest and a Comedy of Errors to their earlier Othello and Macbeth.
