Can I talk about Gravity in here

I thought it was going to be a good movie but the praise it's getting is pretty insane

Can't wait to see it next weekend

Posted in this thread, you got my hopes up really high for a moment, before reality hit.

Marvel movies are basically the new Pixar movies

even the bad ones are pretty good

I guess Iron Man 2 was Cars. But Iron Man 3 wasn't Cars 2 so everything is still great.

"Harry, look at her. You think a girl like that likes you for your personality? Your mother was beautiful too, they're all beautiful - until they're snarling after your trust fund like a pack of ravening wolves!

A word to the not-so-wise about your little girlfriend: do what you need to with her, then broom her fast!"

Agents of SHIELD still needs to pull out some stops to convince me, though. The pilot was okay but it was lacking something.

And I don't just mean a budget. It felt like a Heroes episode, basically, and I really don't want it to be the new Heroes.

Also if Thor doesn't show up to have a little arc in November for sweeps and also because his movie's coming out at the same time, what the fuck are they even doing.

Agents of SHIELD was okay for a Whedon pilot, it certainly needs to build on what it showed but I am hopeful.

I mean, not all television pilots this fall can be as amazing as Sleepy Hollow.

It has become abundantly clear to me that I have been spoiled by netflix and can no longer properly appreciate shows having to wait a week between episodes

Yeah that's just the thing. It didn't have the snappy funny dialogue I associate with Whedon joints. I kept looking for it but only got probably-on-purpose-but-still-ugh lines like "it's an origin story".

Yeah that's the other thing. AoS might turn out to be one of those shows that flow really well marathon-style but so far it's impossible to tell.

I think it depends on the type of show for myself. Some shows I can do week to week perfectly fine (and even prefer it that way).

While others, like Supernatural, I have to marathon as quickly as possible.

    Wait what

The Sleepy Hollow pilot was actually good?

That seemed like the absolute worst premise for a show

I think if I wanted to watch a Superman film I'd rather just watch Disney's Hercules from 1997 instead of Man of Steel.

    Sleepy Hollow is incredible

I feel like SHIELD kept things low key because they needed to sell the network on it, so I hope it ramps up now that they're good to go

oh, it's a terrible premise for a show

I settled on a rock in Central Park, the New York skyline behind me. A glassy new skyscraper neared completion in its stretch toward the skies. I was striking a few poses in my superhero costume when a young boy perched higher on a rock chimed in.

“Captain America does not have a turban and beard,” he said. He had a child’s curious tone. No malevolence.

“Why not?” I asked him. “I was born here. We could have a new Captain America who is Sikh or black or Hispanic.”

He thought about this. Finally, he conceded that yes, maybe a black or Hispanic Captain America would be OK. But his brain couldn’t make sense of it: Captain America in a turban? Captain America in a beard? He’d never conceived of such a thing before.

That’s exactly what brought me to this park on a beautiful summer day. To make fresh neural connections in our collective consciousness. To leave a new image on the hard drive of that boy’s mind.

Also, it's a sad statement about our society that he needed to be a brave dude in order to do that in the first place :(

It's just the environment. Like, go to a con and you'll see all sorts of interpretations of popular fiction characters, played by people of all sorts. Hell, I don't even see that much attacking of "ugly" cosplayers anymore, though I don't hang out in those circles.

But most cosplayers wouldn't walk down the street in their costumes outside of a con... which sucks, because people should be allowed to express themselves and not be judged. Until that day comes, however, things get tough/awkward.

I admit to staring a little when I see someone in a turban, which isn't even that odd given how many people State Farm imports these days. But that's mostly because they aren't really "in context," so it's fascinating. On about the same level as some lady with blue hair (which I love oh my god I wish more people around here had exotic haircolors!)

But yeah. Takes a brave person to be yourself, no matter who you are. As Agents of Shield has introduced cosplayers and fangirls into the Marvel universe, I'd love to see that guy show up on the show.

That Thanksgiving scene in Spider-Man 1 is terrific because it showcases how much of a villain Norman Osborn truly is in any situation.

Nice holiday dinner with my close family friends?

Nope, going to yell at my son for being a disappointment and dating a whorish gold-digger.

Fuck! I had completely forgotten about that scene

And the part where DeFoe licks his fingers? Dude was menacing as fuck

Raimi's Spider-Man movies had a ton of great style, even in the talky dramatic scenes

Hey you know what is a really good Superman story?

    Disney's Hercules

It's all about a god raised by mortals, who seeks to become a hero, and in the end discovers that it isn't what he can do that matters, his strength is not important, it's doing the right thing, and sacrificing for those in need, which really makes someone a hero.

Love that movie. Also Hades is awesome.

Arkham Origins DLC stars Bruce Wayne in Asia
Batman: Arkham Origin's upcoming Initiation DLC will move the game's setting to Asia for an extra slice of origin story.

It's the first time that the Arkham series has featured an environment outside Gotham, and the earliest playable sequence yet in the franchise's canon.

"You play as Bruce Wayne learning to be a ninja," Arkham Origins producer Guillaume Voghel told Eurogamer at EGX 2013. "That's a really cool one. Narratively there's some added content that will give players a little more background story."

Batman publisher Warner Bros. Interactive recently revealed the contents of Arkham Origins' Season Pass, which includes the Initiation add-on. It'll offer you a chance to play as Wayne before he became the Bat and see him prove himself worthy to "his greatest teacher, Kirigi" - a ninja who taught Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins.

"[But] it's not League of Assassins, it's ninja-related," Voghel continued. "It's when he learned to be a ninja and learned those techniques. He goes to a monastery - custom content was created for the DLC. You'll be in Asia in the monastery. The team did a great job on that, it looks really good."

Voghel also offered up details of the game's I Am the Night mode, available after you complete the main game and New Game Plus.

"The main narrative arc and side missions last about 12 hours," he explained, "and then you have all the collectibles. To get 100 per cent of that will take much, much longer. We have a new difficulty level, New Game Plus is coming back - that's really difficult - and when you're done with that there's I Am The Night mode - which is no saves and one life."

    Holy smokes, Batman.

    Yesssssssssssssssssss

This is exactly what I want
