Murder Mansion: A round-based murder mystery game

Hello, everyone.

I'm a longtime reader of Penny Arcade, but I'm going to be completely honest and up-front here; I created this forum account almost entirely for promoting my game. Time allowing, I'll try to be a positive contributor, and hopefully eventually make up for this faux-pas, but I can make no promises (I'd love to be a regular member of this community, but there's only so much "play on the computer" time in the day, amiright?)

Anyway, if you're still with me, then here's the game in a nutshell:

"It is a dark and stormy night. You are one of several "guests" stranded in an old, spooky Mansion.

As the evening progresses, it becomes apparent that one among you is a murderer!

Can the rest of you survive long enough to gather clues to correctly deduce the killer's identity and make an accusation to the authorities (or perhaps exact vigilante-style justice)?

Or will you be picked off one-by-one by the psycho? (using a wide array of weapons available, like a kitchen knife, a hammer, a shovel, a revolver, a large rock, an axe, and many more!)"

Murder Mansion can be loosely described as a real-time homage to the Clue boardgame, as the main gameplay revolves around gathering clues (by examining people and objects) to deduce which of the players is the randomly selected killer while that player tries to off everyone before he/she can be accused.

It is a round-based multiplayer game (or singleplayer vs. AI). The above scenario applies to the game's "Classic" mode, but there are several others (includng the obligatory Death Match and CTF modes!) It also applies to the game's titular map, The Mansion, though there are also several other maps as well (including a stranded cruise ship, a campgrounds, an overnight express train, etc.)

As you can see from the screenshots, this is a 2D, top-down, tile-based game. It has been built via the BYOND system (notable for other "breakout" games, such as the popular "Space Station 13", and the Steam-Greenlighted "NEStalgia").

The game has been a labor of love for just over a decade now (off-and-on, as free time/motivation allowed) for this lone developer (everything but the music and sound effects are my own work), and I feel that it is finally to a level of polish/completion that makes it worthy of promotion outside of BYOND (hence this post!)

It is a free-to-play game (unless you consider it a "cost" to have to install the free BYOND software and set up a free BYOND account in order to play it). However, there is an optional subscription that will unlock extra maps and modes.

So, I invite you to check it out!

I just want to say that I'm really excited to find someone going by SuperSaiyanGokuX online. I thought those sorts of handles had died off.

The Clue movie is streaming on Netflix right now, at least for Americans, and it's totally worth watching.

    Representin' 1999!

It's kind of funny. I selected this username back then, and I've used it (or some variation of it, like "SSGX") virtually everywhere I set up an account ever since. It's sort of become "me" online. I don't think I could change it anymore than I could change my name in the real world.

Hobbyist game developer. Please check out my baby:
