Exhaust used to lower AA dmg by 70%, much stronger versus Trynd. Now it's lower attack speed and only 30% dmg lowering. Plus it only lasts 2.5 seconds and Trynd's ult lasts 5 seconds. To deal with Trynd you beat his ass in lane so he can't get strong as early and you end the game before he has 4 or 5 items. If you can't do that then you hope your team has enough CC and can afford to blow it all on him during his ult. Or you kite him, which is harder but still doable by champs like blue ez.
Talk to me about Heimerdinger. Had fun playing him for the first time today in a co-op vs AI and then in a real normal (but one in which the enemy team had some dissension and no jungler.) Completely crushed lane vs Kennen, and won the game--but again, no jungler.
Heimerdinger seems super fun to play, and the turrets solve my farming problem (which is that I am terrible at farming mid).
Is Heimerdinger always a troll pick? What do you build on him? He clearly needs either mana regen or +max mana, but not sure what precisely to build...

That doesn't mean that much though if you are good and know how to play him. I've played two ranked games in the past month with and against a Heimer. Both times the pilot was a Plat 1/Diamond player. Both times Heimer carried his team.

Edit: Feel like I made a lot of great calls this game. I didn't really want to gank for bot lane (who were a duo queue) early because a bad fight could be the game if Twitch got some early kills. Fortunately, Kayle obliged me by being incredibly aggressive in lane and hanging around at low HP, so she (and J4) were our first 3 kills of which I got two. Picked up another kill top when Darius ever so politely engaged on GP with me waiting right there in the river bush. 4-1 overall and I'm 3-0.
Varus did about 10k dmg to champions, I did about 20k and Zyra did almost 40k. She does an amazing amount of damage if she gets some AP and of course her CC is insane.
The last teamfight of the game, we had Baron and were poking them under their mid inhib tower. Varus wandered a little to far in and got Thresh hooked; Thresh flew to him, Darius flashed forward and J4 jumped on him a half second later. I waited until all 3 enemy champs were on top of him before throwing my R and Zyra immediately followed up with her R. I Q'd in and hit Randuins + Locket and we swept the floor with them. Varus walked away with 80% hp, lol. We were way ahead in gold and had Baron so it wasn't exactly a fair fight but I was really proud of the chain CC.

Nasus jungle powers me to victory again. I don't know why I don't just always play him. I got tons of dragons with him and was able to get tryn top snowballing by ganking the shit out of gangplank who kept pushing the lane and not warding.

Wow, no wonder I'm usually the only one who takes exhaust in games (as support). They really depowered it. And here I thought I was was really doing well by exhausting the carry in team fights to drastically reduce their damage.
Guess I should check out the other summoner spells.

Did he carry teamfights, siege, splitpush, or some combination of the above? I'm trying to figure out in what contexts one might actually pick him and what he actually does other than drop turrets, walk away, get farm/kills without meaning to.
Since I have temporarily given up on climbing ranked, I might as well play what entertains me the most, and I seriously had more fun playing as Heimerdinger than as any other champ for quite a while. It even made me roleplay and say silly things in teamchat, which I have never done before. Also, my favorite part of League is pushing lane and taking turrets (that's a big reason why I play Caitlyn), so Heimerdinger would sync pretty well with that.
Need a little advice on dealing with Trynd. Had an especially tough game last night where the Trynd stacked BTs and destroyed us. And this seems to be a trend whenever I face a Trynd. You can't ignore him cause he does a shit ton of damage. But you'll get yelled at non stop if you focus him and blow shit to stop him cause he still gets free unkillable time.
Now, back in the olden tymes of longe longe ago. You would simply exhaust him when he went into endless rage and that at least dealt with that. But I guess they changed exhaust at some point? Cause I exhausted that dude almost every team fight for endless rage and it seemed to do jack and shit.
Is Trynd just a catch 22 of having to blow multiple CCs on him to keep him from obliterating your team?
Take someone against Trynd that he can't kill/ can also split push. Jax can do pretty well against him because of counterstrike. So do Malphite and Quinn. Darius can beat him early but gets outscaled.
Usually when I see Tryndamere on the other team I take Malphite against him. Rush ninja tabi and then Sunfire. Keep buying armor, push lane, be fat. Run teleport so when you counter push you can teleport to the fight if he tries to go in. Your ult + E attack speed debuff is ultra powerful against auto attack champions.

9/21 - Mpen in offense, standard masteries in defense for tanks.
First three points - W, Q, E. Afterwards R>W>Q>E. That's my preference at least, some people like E over Q. At max rank, Q does more damage, but E gives you a longer and more punishing slow. Your choice really.
Start Blue or Red depending on whether your purple or blue side. Then go straight to your other buff. Look to see if you can gank. If you can't, just farm the jungle for a bit. Levels 5/6 your ganks are pretty lethal.
Bot lane is the strongest lane you can gank, due to your wall clear with Q, and your ranged stun with R.

Yes. Also Anivia is an OP hard counter to Trynd, but the secret is you use your mid lane to counter him in team fight phase, rather than directly countering him early game.
If you play properly against Trynd in lane, you should be able to keep him at 0 kills, because armor stacking is so strong early game.
That said, feel free to burst Trynd in a team fight, just don't do any damage once he uses Endless Rage. If you're good / aren't under so much pressure, wait 4.5 seconds and then ignite him, and there's a good chance it will kill him coming out of his Endless Rage.
Trynd is a well scaling champion and split pushing in general is probably a little too strong, but he's counterable at all phases of the game if you play well, and his kit requires substantial assistance from his own team to function optimally.
Besides Malph, Teemo is best against Trynd. Just don't run an AP build because he will still likely be able to kill you. Just go bruiser Teemo with BotRK and Frozen mallet and laugh to the bank. He can't even farm versus this build because he can't run away. Blind him any time he wants to fight and chase him as he tries to disengage. Now suddenly their team is the one dealing with the unstoppable split push machine instead of yours.

This weekend I'll be trying the theory out, too. Played her last week instead of Elise and things went well.
Nasus also works against tryn. Your late game vs. his. Your teamfight presence is significantly stronger, and you can also 1v1 him in a splitpush situation (assuming your team comp can handle the 4v4).
God, I hope they do something about duo queues screwing up the ranked matchmaker next season
"Why is this Ez doing so terribly", I wonder, as he doesn't even attempt to dodge a Thresh hook for the sixth time.
Then I find out that he's a Silver V player trying to lane against Golds.
I would be comfortable if they capped the bound at something like no more than three ranks differential or 200 MMR (though that obviously causes problems because there is no visual MMR indicator)

This would be a pretty good solution. Stuff like Bronzes queuing with Platinum/Diamond players (which I've seen happen a few times) is just really messy matchmaker-wise and usually winds up not being fun for anyone involved.
I wouldn't be horribly upset if they did make solo queue solo-only, but Riot doesn't sound particularly fond of that suggestion.

I think a lot of that would come from people saying again and again through the life of the game that playing in solo queue sucks. Always play with friends cause it is a thousand times better. I've been hearing that statement for years from this very forum.
When you have a lot of vocal hatred for playing solo, why would you ever reinforce that by taking away duo and effectively stating, "Ranked is the un-fun mode. Only play this mode if you hate playing the game"
I just read all the red posts zenon made about lucian in the last day
holy shit that guy is living in a la-la land about him. he keeps claiming he's op and nobody plays him right and his ult is better damage then QWE/AAing at lvl 16 and he can outburst any other ADC in auto attack range
tbh his Q-passive-W-passive-Q-passive combo is pretty strong but the problem that people are having is actually landing the damn spells
I can't say the same for his ult, it is pretty weak
Lucian is a huuuuuge lane bully. He's super strong in lane if you're good with his Q and get the AA in inbetween.
Honestly I kind of agree with Riot on this one, he isn't op but he doesn't need buffing. The community got its collective head up its arse about his ult not being some kind of massive nuke and basically never gave him a proper chance. Most players have no idea about how valuable it is to be able to move while attacking.
Alas, community will continue to whine, riot will eventually buff/rework and he'll probably be stupid op for a month or two.
Steam / Xbox Live: WSDX NNID: W-S-D-X 3DS FC: 2637-9461-8549
I think he's okay but fun to play so I'll pick him over stronger ADCs sometimes. I think a surprising amount of his strength (in bronze->gold, at least) comes from the fact that people don't understand how he works, not that he has such a deep counterplay game. I don't think he's garbage. But Zenon keeps insisting that he is secret OP and as soon as people get him to sing and dance, you'll see, you'll all see
Like, his W is kind of shitty I feel, I like the rest of his kit, I think his passive and Q are extremely strong, I think The Culling is a fine skill but kind of thematically inappropriate (it feels like it should be an OH SHIT MURDER button but instead it's for poking, chasing down runners, and safe damage??)
I dunno
People who claim he's garbage tier are either playing on a different level than me or I don't get their objections, and Zenon seems to think he is like Lee Sin, Jayce, Orianna, or Syndra and I just... am not seeing it

ya atm lucian is fine in lane
hes not horrible at all
his ult just has a weird use case and isnt FUCK U WERE DOIN IT BROS
His W is the big thing that sucks IMO. It's a skill that has on AA move speed attached to it, but it's much longer range than his AA so it's clunky. Had they put the additional move speed on hitting people with AAs on his Q then it would feel a lot more slick. Q-passive AA is the way you harass in lane with him and the extra move speed would mean you could extend trades more easily without burning your mana using his worthless ap scaling W. Put a slow on the W or something.
They just tried to get too creative with him with the star shaped W and all that. It just left him with a less than useful skill that the designers thought was going to be neat and creative. His Q is actually fine, with how low its CD is and how much damage it does, it'd be broken as hell if it was a straight skillshot. They did the same thing with the ult. Instead of making a powerful feeling ultimate skill, they just got fancy and made a "You can shoot bullets while moving from long range move," but the problem is it does basically no damage to the guy you'll be hitting with it from 1400 range, which is a tank who will spam laugh at you while his health bar doesn't even move from your ult.
If they just made his W more satisfying he'd be fine. His Q passive W passive E passive damage is very high, and by the time you run through that his Q is back up again. The problem is just that the W sucks.
I think you shouldn't be able to duo at all in ranked. There are two normal queues for you to play with your friends.
Either that or only be able to duo with people within a rank or two.
I think one or two ranks is simply too much of a containment, and doesn't reflect the current matchmaking standards in ranked as they are now.
I would say in probably 90%+ of my games, everyone is within 5 ranks of each other. That puts the upper and lower bound the game is trying to achieve between the highest and lowest player in a game at roughly 300-350 Elo. Now, that is a pretty wide differential gap, and obviously not ideal - it is also mostly rare. Normally, I would say my average game is everyone about 3 ranks or 200 Elo apart. That seems like a really nice intersection of speedy matchmaking and relatively even skill levels for all players.
Duo queues would follow this somewhat ideal pattern - thus ensuring that games are not full of people all over the Elo spectrum.
Everybody hates duo Q when your team loses because the duo Q fails. Everybody ignores duo queue when the duo communicates and dominates the game and carries them.
Even the fringe cases of a diamond duo with a bronze balance themselves out, because while that diamond person will be much better than the ~gold person he's up against, it also means there are 4 other gold people potentially feasting on the 4 bronze teammates he has. Plus I don't think it's very common at all anyway.
I just read all the red posts zenon made about lucian in the last day
holy shit that guy is living in a la-la land about him. he keeps claiming he's op and nobody plays him right and his ult is better damage then QWE/AAing at lvl 16 and he can outburst any other ADC in auto attack range
so from this i have determined two things:
1) Zenon is an ass
2) Lucian will probably be in a bad state for a while.

I dunno
People who claim he's garbage tier are either playing on a different level than me or I don't get their objections, and Zenon seems to think he is like Lee Sin, Jayce, Orianna, or Syndra and I just... am not seeing it
hes not horrible at all
his ult just has a weird use case and isnt FUCK U WERE DOIN IT BROS
and gets cancelled by, like, janna ults and shit
which is shitty
not so sure about them free lp thos
It's just that Riot keep talking about him like he's the second coming of release Xin and it's really confusing.
Even the fringe cases of a diamond duo with a bronze balance themselves out, because while that diamond person will be much better than the ~gold person he's up against, it also means there are 4 other gold people potentially feasting on the 4 bronze teammates he has. Plus I don't think it's very common at all anyway.
There's like no damage on it, but the move speed+ isn't that useful for the reasons that josh said above
So while his E is a useful skill that is quite strong its not super flashy and its not a spell that fucks people up
It really feels like Lucian is working with half a kit in certain games
so from this i have determined two things:
1) Zenon is an ass
2) Lucian will probably be in a bad state for a while.
