Hah, Mr. Mime is constantly doing the "I'm standing behind an invisible wall" animation in battle
Also: I think they made him Fairy typed My Wartortle's Bite wasn't super effective on him.
UNOBTAINABLE POKÉMON LIST for Pokémon X & Y - FINALIZED LIST
This is intended to be a guideline for people to follow that are getting back into the franchise, want to "catch 'em all" but aren't sure where to look. Only established typings are stated here - so any likely yet unconfirmed transitions to the new Fairy type for Clefable, Blissey and others are not reflected here.
This list is now complete and finalized so you can now plot out your teams including prior gen Pokemon accordingly. Feel free to stick these into the OT or save them as a handy resource until Serebii throws there's up later in the weekend. And only the top level of the evolutionary ladder is called out here for the sake of being concise.
So if you're playing through past gen titles, you'll know who you need to collect and who you can ignore. (Unless you want to exploit the RNG for stats, in which case, your list is MUCH larger.) Collect the guys on the list below because this is who you're going to want to have prepped when Poke Transfers go live in December.
Bear in mind that if you own only a copy of X or Y, you'll still be able to trade for the game-exclusive unobtainables with a friend or via GTS. But everything in the 7 lists above will need to wait for the Pokemon Bank transfer tool to open. That also includes any obtainable Pokemon from your past games that aren't in these lists. You've got to wait the 10+ weeks for those.

You guys think they'll have all the hidden mega evolutions and event pokemon already on the cart like usual or have them downloaded to the game like DLC?
Seems like it'll be business as usual but man, it would be fun to be left wondering what crazy things are still out there.
It's stone-info I'm waiting for. Pokemon can be moved. If there are version-exclusive stones that are available once per game, those are what I'll be choosing between.
So if the char stones are X and Y exclusive, do you need to choose charmander to get them?

Two tantalizing posts from a poster named Ragus in the neo gaf thread (hopefully he doesn't mind me quoting, I can't post over there to ask) about online stuff:
Wow, using online options was never so good in pokemon games. On the bottom screen I see all the time a live update of whether my friends are online/offline. When I see, that my friend is online, I can live chat with him/trade/battle. After selecting battle, it took more or less 15 second to get connected to my buddy, and after next few seconds, were were already in a battle.
Awesome.
Number of players:
a)2 player match
b)4 player match
Battle Rules:
a)Normal rules (any number of pokemons, lvl 50, special pokemon permitted, same pokemon permitted, same items permitted, handicap off)
b)Flat rules (3 pokemons, up to lvl 50, special pokemons banned, same pokemons banned, same items banned, handicap off)
c)no restrictions
Handicap:
a)on
b)off
Oh, and get this - you can check how many badges does your friend have, and what is his play time. Stalking in Pokemon has never been so much fun.
b)Flat rules
I kinda wish they would. We don't need every Pokemon to be able to learn it. Here we have a move that is about moving at high speed to delude the enemy, and Shuckle learns it.
Am I wrong in feeling that Pokemon will be the ultimate game to play at work during downtime? A battle here or that, some Amie or Super Training to boost some stats. Quick, in and out.

It's probably all on the cart, but 3DS carts are encrypted. We likely won't know about any hidden pokemon until they are revealed or some genius breaks the encryption.
Hrrmm, maybe I will get both then. I'll see how much I can get from just trading first, but I know I might want to eventually just go through the game again without having to delete my old file.

Yeah, that's what I'll eventually do once Pokemon Bank is out and I've got a second copy sometime next year. Keep X as my main save file where I'll hopefully complete the Pokedex at some point and use Y to actually play through the game from time to time, transferring Pokemon over from the Bank as needed.

Am I the only weird one who totally doesn't care about catching pokemon that I don't really like?
The only pokes that I go out of my way to catch for the sake of catching are legendaries.

Also, no one has any thoughts on my team before?
Some guidance on who there would mix together well to make the best team?

Been playing Gen V for over two years now, not bored yet.
Ehh if it looks cool and you believe in your pokemon
It'll work out
My problem is I have more than 6 I listed...
I need to figure out which ones to take so that's why I'm asking which ones would make the best team from that selection because I don't know how else to decide.
I have 3 I'm using no matter what and need to pick the 3 that go with them best.

Me too! Me, Gyarados, Jolteon and Gengar are inseparable.
But if you're not using them on your competitive team, you don't have to worry. Of those three, I'd prioritize ice resistant mons since two of them are weak against it. Fire and water types are good options.

if this is true, i may choose Y.
I know I do!
It's incorrect. I was corrected. Neither are catchable in X and Y.

Also of note... the page has their mega stones listed as opposite from the games the actual pokes come from.
Either they mistyped or there is some extra trading there.

Coro-coro still lists him as Steel/Rock but I would be cool if they dropped the Rock.
Jericho!
...wait.
Well, sure as hell didn't see that coming.
They're afraid Nintendo's ninjas are watching.
I got a little excited when I saw your ship.
They actually are.
Anyway, I am quoting this from Neogaf because this is super useful info that probably maybe belongs in the OP at some point.

It also has the most adorable fainting animation
Which I got to witness loads of times since I caught it in a Horde encounter and slaughtered four of its friends
There's supposedly a place to buy the two out of three you don't get for free.
I haven't gotten it yet, but I doubt they'd remove it.
Also of note, this is the first official art and reveal for the three starters final evos.

If I bought both x and y, could I upload my boxes from both to the same pokebank in december in order to combine them?
Or would the bank account be tied to a single file?
The whole point of Pokebank is that it's planned to be around for a long time and that it isn't tied to a single game.

Halp me smart pokemasters! I'm a pokedumb!
