Gonna jump back into the world of Pokemon, going to pre-order X. Does anyone have a list of pre-order sales that stores are doing?
There aren't really any sales, and the only preorder bonus I'm aware of is that Gamestop is offering a poster. Pokemon tends to sell itself just fine on just Pokemon alone.
I have 3 I'm using no matter what and need to pick the 3 that go with them best.
Me too! Me, Gyarados, Jolteon and Gengar are inseparable.
But if you're not using them on your competitive team, you don't have to worry. Of those three, I'd prioritize ice resistant mons since two of them are weak against it. Fire and water types are good options.
Well "competitive" for me is just what I'll battle against friends with so yes this would be my team for that as well which is why I want to make sure it's at least somewhat decent even though it will be far from perfect.
So you think I should definitely add a fire? Charizard or the Blaiziken? Or both?
And now that I've seen mega-aggron I'm extra interested in using him... would he do OK there? He could be my fairy stomper. But I'll be sad benching Chesnaught! And the fossil cutie!

Aaaaaaaggghh.
Fire would help with an ice and a fairy resistance, which both your dragons are weak against. Though Charizard is neutral to ice and adds another rock weakness (well, double actually). Charizard X removes the double rock weakness, but also removes the fairy resistance. Steel types resist ice, dragon and fairy, so Aggron would definitely help.
It's pretty much a puzzle with 750 pieces to consider and properly balance.

Which leaves 2 spots! Are suggesting that Blaiziken would be better for the fire spot?
If so would you add a fairy? And is there any benefit to the fairy/psychic typing over pure fairy or vice versa in this group?
What, does it show the angry ghost of the last KO'd Pokemon or something?
Nah, it just looks really cool.
A lot of love went into the animations in general, both for the Pokemon and the attacks. Giving unqiue animations to 700+ Pokemon and modeling them in 3D in addition to the various attacks must've been an ungodly amount of work.

Finally found a trainer who uses more than one Pokemon and whose second Pokemon is weak to Rock. After resetting the game like 10 times until his fucking Absol didn't use Taunt, I got a Stealth Rock off with Steelix, switched to Pancham, defeated Absol and Pinsir switched in. Pinsir lost about, I don't know, 15% of its health. It's hard to tell exactly. Its current health sits about at the point between the two numbers indicating its level, if that helps. There wasn't any "it was supereffective!" message.

I've thought about how much work that must've been, but now that I think about it, it probably takes about as much as a kinda large game. The models don't have a whole lot of polygons, and their worlds are made of simple parts on a grid. Meanwhile, Destiny has something like seven areas each the size of the Reach campaign in hi-rez. It's still a lot of work, but probably not as absurd an amount as you'd think. Of course, I could be wrong.

Preorder at Toys R Us and get a $10 coupon for another game when you pick up Pokemon.
I heard New Egg was selling it for $35, but then you have to wait for it to ship.

Blaziken is neutral to rock and resists ice, so yes.
Psychic/fairy would add another ghost weakness and doesn't resist dark, while a pure fairy does which Gengar would appreciate. On the other hand, Gengar's bug and poison resistance should help Gardevoir.
This is just really basic advice. There's a lot more to consider, including move sets, items, ev spreads, popular threats, damage math.

A Speed Boost Blaziken is super-duper good in general.
Those BP changes are probably significant, but I have no real context for what matchups are affected by them. I like to read up on competitive stuff once in a while, but not to the point that I know what the margins on important one-hit and two-hit KOs are.

It'll likely affect existing OHKOs and 2HKOs, but I understand why they did it. With the introduction of Megas and therefore boosted base stats, it was needed to not polarize the tiers. Otherwise UU pokemon have no business in OU, while in previous generations UUs are totally viable in OU.

I would say this changes everything (it almost does), but I still have to stick with chespin.

Pinsir's pure Bug, right? Stealth Rocj used to take off 25%.
If you look at Fennekin's health bar there, Pinsir's health was pretty much exactly below the lower right end of the '2'.

Now we get to find out if those mega stones can be traded!
Edit: I guess I take that back. It has been confirmed that you can... I think.

Yeah
Have you caught any Pokemon yet? Could I quickly trade my Swirlix to you to see if it evolves?
I want it back, though :P
Edit: Hm, I can't click on your Trade button, for some reason.
Starmie, Pinsir and Aggron are X exclusive? Noooooooooo.
Also, it's confirmed that Surf, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt have 90 BP and Hydro Pump, Fire Blast, Blizzard and Thunder have 110 BP.
Fire Blast does so it's more riskier despite the power.
