So the last (and only) Pokémon I played was Blue, on my beige DMG-1 over 13 years ago. I have no idea what anyone is talking about here and feel old.
But now I'm roaming the starting forest in X with my Squirtle Froakie, scrappy underdog Pidgey and useless Kakuna I'm trying to level, and it's eerily familiar. Only now, I've got the adult wisdom and patience to realise buffs/debuffs are actually worth using.
Has anyone else been similarly detached from the series for this long? It's kind of exciting going in so fresh.
How do you play the face game with your pokemon? I don't see it in pokemon-ami
During the ami mode, hold the DS, so it's camera is pointing at your face. If the DS is detecting your face, you should see a small yellow smiley face in the bottom left corner. Simply click on it, and it should start the camera mini game!
Does anyone know what purpose tipping NPC's has? I've seen certain rumors flying around, but nothing concrete yet.

Okay, so just knowing Baby-Doll Eyes isn't enough for Eevee to become Sylveon. I guess it really does need Mon-Amie time.
Yep. I hatched one, Amie'd it to max, got into a fight and it leveled up to Baby Doll Eyes and then evolved in one fight (I'm at 8 badges so lv 50ish dudes to fight).

The last one... pretty sure yes, as I have a level 65 HM slave of him.
Good times on the wonder trading. Got a pikachu, snorlax, some weird lvl 60+ Japanese mushroom thing, and a fennekin. Thinking about trading the fox for a ditto and breeding my starters for future trades, but I'm curious as to how long that takes. If I shoved them both in daycare tonight, how soon could I expect to have a squealing new froakie ready for trades?

Anyone know what's a good level at which to evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk?
According to this thread, every move you'd ever want a Heliolisk to learn is from a TM/HM except possibly Parabolic Charge. I guess the Volt Switch TM might come after level 40, though. (From what I can dig up, Electrify at 45 turns an incoming enemy move into an electric attack, which is useless unless you're in a double battle with someone with Lightning Rod).

Just had sylveon get two crits, cure itself of paralysis and endure a fatal blow in one battle. And it doesn't seem to go back down.
Yeah, pokemon-amie makes Sylveon inherently OP anywhere that's on (presumably NOT in multiplayer or Maison). And it's good already, thanks to respectable bulk and special attack. And fairy type.

I'm not sure about the camouflage thing. Mine knew it to begin with and didn't evolve until 48. I kept it on him until then anyway but who knows. If you really need it catch another one.
Also, honedge's third form requires a dusk stone, though you should wait till 51 to get sacred sword.

Just finished the game. I think I'm god-king of Kalos now.
The country's soul devouring nightmare of legend volunteered to work for me. Like, it pretty much jumped in the pokeball. It's still much less effective than Ninja Frog, who is the best friend a guy could have. (5 hearts!)
My enemies lie in an unmarked impromtu mass grave, probably with their souls eaten. No-one in the country can even begin to challenge me.
I need to work on my maniacal laugh.
Also, man, this game is the worst at trying for a sympathetic villain.

Yeah, but which pokemon do you get turned into? RB had that weird generic looking thing. And generic birds, and I forget what else.
Some people in the far-easternmost town speak about such a machine. Shortly afterwards, Sycamore talks about hiding a treasure of his in town.

You don't need it maxed out at least, three hearts was enough for it to evolve for me.
That being said, the ability to break status conditions or straight-up not getting KO'd totally makes maxing it out worth your time.
