But now I'm roaming the starting forest in X with my Squirtle Froakie, scrappy underdog Pidgey and useless Kakuna I'm trying to level, and it's eerily familiar. Only now, I've got the adult wisdom and patience to realise buffs/debuffs are actually worth using.
Has anyone else been similarly detached from the series for this long? It's kind of exciting going in so fresh.

You know I turned exp share back on and I've been using it to level a second team (well most of a second team, I still need Hawlucha to HM slave) while I meticulously catch em all. Now I can customize my team on the fly, which at least makes it feel more like the anime, where Ash and friends were constantly swapping dudes in and out.

I felt bad about putting him on slave duty, but the dude really needs an evolution.
The official team mates so far are Blaziken, Lucario, Gardevoir, Greninja, Doublade, Malamar, Hawlucha, while Malamar, Haunter, and Goomy are rising through the ranks.

Also, jesus I need help. Between Wonder Trading, having to track down every pokemon, and making occasional trips back to the forest to hunt for lightballs, I am going to probably be close to 30 hours before I hit the 2nd Gym. >.>

For those of you who have gotten your Goomys (Goomies? Goomeaux for the French?) farther along, what are they like? Is my Adamant one a gold mine, or should I be searching for Modest or something mixed?
I am going to be heading to gym 5 and my guys are around 31-41. My main 4 or so are in the very early 40s.

Suggestions for a Scyther moveset?

Chansey is way better than Scyther. It is even more durable than Blissey at the cost of not using Leftovers.

I thought the consensus that while Pikachu with light orb slightly outdamaged Raichu, you could just have similar overall offense, better other stats, AND a non light orb item, making Raichu superior.
I spent an hour tonight in amie with Eevee, got my Sylveon. Ignoring how ridiculous it is that Sylveon will now cure itself of poison three times in a row, dodge every other attack, and land crits like nobody's business, it is an awesome Pokemon. I really like it.
My current team consists of Sylveon, Furfrou, Frogadier, Venusaur, Amaura, and a Zubat who will become a Crobat and proceed to wreck faces. Venusaur may get switched out for something else eventually, but it sure is nice to have for those random multiplayer battles (Sleep Powder ftw!).
Some pokemon lost their dream world abilities chandelure doesnt get shadow tag now presumably because ypu could have three very deadly shadow taggers on a team and wynaut

There's currently no real way to check IV's of the new 'mons right now? It doesn't matter, I just wanted to take a cursory look at this Tyrunt I just brought back from the dead.

If you're okay with cursory, punch the stats into something like this (assuming it has no EVs yet).

Guys, I can't stop thinking about game at work. I mastered Gen IV. Gen V soured me forever (or so I thought) when it ruined end game play by getting rid of automatic leveling to 100 for online PvP. But then they went and made a 3D Pokemon game. This is basically the game my 10 year old self thought should exist, because "they made Pokemon 3D for Nintendo 64, why can't they make a mainline game like that." It's basically the wish fulfillment of my 10 year old self.
What is wrooooooooooong with me! (Also, Christ I feel old).
Is there a way to see your poke's nature in battle? I'm trying to get a decent Yveltal, even though I'm probably never going to use him to battle, and going through the fight afterwards before checking its stats is tedious as all hell.
So for anyone else trying to do something similar, this site will let you plug in values for the base stats, the poke's current stats, and spit out what the nature and IVs can be. Smogon has figured out the base stats for pretty much everything.
On my sixth reset or so I got a modest Yveltal with IVs of 30-31/28-31/18-19/30-31/30-31/30-31
