I'm over 25 games on my wishlist (usually only had <10 over the years), and I haven't even been looking around that much either. Winter sales are going to be disastrous for my wallet

@Big Classy you are some sort of amazing. Thank you very much for the gift of Dust. I can't wait to get my Metroidvania on! Also, thanks to whoever nominated me - it warmed my cold, black heart.

I'm enjoying it too, it has it's probelms, but overall it's fun so far and I'm looking forward to more ship battles. The main problem I have with it so far is too many insta-fail missions but that's probably just me being bad at them
Oh, yeah, I've had that complaint several times so far as well. I stopped caring about full synchronization a long time ago. I don't know how many times I had to restart that mission where you're infiltrating the camp or the one where you sneak into the fort. Some of them seem to have a very specific way they want you to do them, which kind of goes against where the series shines, but thankfully I've only seen a few of those.
There's also been times where the guy refuses to do what I want him to, though that got better when I realized you can happily run and climb by just holding down the right trigger. I don't leap off of roofs or trees in the wrong direction so much anymore as I did when I also held down the A button.
I'm really enjoying the story so far, and the atmosphere is top notch. I also thought the voice acting was very good overall. There were just a few instances of major characters that I thought sounded like they were reading a script.

yeah, those are the 2 missions I'm talking about, as long as there aren't too many more like that I should keep having fun.
My daughter was watching me play for a bit yesterday so I didn't want to do any killing and decided to do some viewpoints in the frontier, climbing trees is great!

I had completely forgot about State of Decay coming out on PC this year! And here I was thinking that Watch Dogs was going to be the only really cool game released on PC in 2013 still (whoops!).

I still take credit for that sale. My brotherinlaw is a very highlevel appointee for the governor of RI. I kept bugging him in Jan and Feb about how the state could get some of their money back by doing a Steam sale. He never responded to any of the txt messages, but still, it's the only thing that makes sense considering the timing. :P
Has anyone tried megabyte punch? It always looked interesting and I considered picking it up on desura at one point, but then I couldn't figure out the controls on the demo flash version thing.
I think it's a bit kin to smash if things I've read are true.
If you update to Windows 8.1 this morning, if you run into the issue of all your games receiving an ugly orange hue (and some misaligned text) on Nvidia Beta drivers, you may need to reinstall them. Appears to have fixed it for me.
Okay, so initial impressions on Magicka: Wizard Wars after an hour of play:
1) First the main noticeable differences between it and standard Magicka PVP: It's less lethal by a country mile, you can only have three elements rather than five and there's a bit more formality as to which combo creates what sort of spell (for example if earth is in a combo you will always fire a rock unless you mix in shield in which case it can do several things). Spells like haste and revive are now based off a super meter that builds while you blow stuff up.
The biggest difference to me is just the slower time to kill and vastly increased protection options (you still have walls and energy sheilds, but you also have wards along with more variety in how each of those options works out).
2) It's definitely an alpha. The game runs super smooth for me 99% of the time but they're having real server issues that will disconnect you once every game or so. In addition there's none of the meta stuff in the form of gear which will presumably form the basis of their free to play model along with the main way to customise what you wizard does. Right now the only alternate sets of gear are the founders items and one staff.
As it stands I'd say it's only really worth buying into the early access if you were a fan of Magicka's PVP. Otherwise you're probably better off waiting until it's more developed.
I disagree with none of this considering how easy it was to murder myself in the arenas.
I was excited about Spacebase-DF9, but then I read the part of the RPS interview where the death of the well liked comrade could lead to the entire base turning on itself with fire and flames, kind of like if Willow or Inara died, shit hits the fan. I like this. I will encourage this.
Also, while new players aren't aware of how the game works: shield + 2 elements gives you a ward 50% protection from each element or 100% if you stack two.
This can be hilariously mean against people who rely on just one spell type to carry them.
First of all thanks @Big Classy for having my nominee be the recipient of some of your generosity.
Second, I really want to pick up a copy of Stanley Parable. It seems incredibly interesting. It seems like an unwinding choose your own adventure book. The only real concern I have is that given it's so narrator driven it seems like it would be very easy to cover all the content fairly quickly. Have there been any solid previews that give a sense of how much content the final product will have?

I'd say your perceptions are largely wrong about the game (at least the choose your own adventure part), and it's also likely to be pretty short. That is if it retains any sort of shape similar to the mod it is based on.
To put some extra context: There's an achievement to beat it in 5 minutes. If length is a determining issue, I'd wait for a sale.
Very good game. I felt really terrible at it quite often, but I was able to eventually beat it on normal difficulty setting. I was super-impressed by the graphics. I didn't know that the Unreal 3 engine could do all that. While the palette became a little tiresome at points, it was an absolutely beautiful game through and through.
I wasn't pleased with the damsel plot, but considering there was only really three characters on the good guy side, it would have probably required more characters or significant reworking to make it work differently. Dante was a lot of fun, Virgil was pretty good, and I really liked Kat. She could use a slightly better costume though.
It's a game I can see myself coming back to in order to play the occasional level every once in a while when I'm looking for something to play for 20 minutes while bored. It's not quite GOTY material, but it's enjoyable enough that I'm going to recommend it highly come the seasonal sales.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

It's not the determining issue, but with other similarly "artsy" games on my wishlist like Papers, Please or Cart Life in my backlog it does factor in a little. I'll probably wait for a sale if it's crazy short.
Arkham Asylum and Arkham City both updated and it appears GFWL has been stripped out. Along with my saved game.

Halftway through Amnesia, my brothers and sisters, with a mind to finish it today since I am at home sick with nothing else to do. I really like this game a lot. Creepy? Hell yes. But it's just been fun. I have Penumbra in my backlog and understand the mechanics of the game are similar to this, which gets me all sorts of excited.
That being said, I have to take a little break because I opened a door and a monster was waiting for me. I did choke on my Cherry Coke Zero a bit a lot there.

I've been playing through it as well. Strangely I'm not finding it as terrifying as my ill-fated first attempt which I abandoned about an hour in. This time around it feels more like reading a really good horror novel (especially H.P. Lovecraft). It's weird and creepy and freaky, but I'm not experiencing the blind terror I had the last time I tried. (OK, the water-filled hallway got me pretty good). Anyway, odds are good I'll be finishing it up tonight or tomorrow. Another game off the backlog, and it's a scary one!
Anyone played the "bonus" games that come with Amnesia? Justine or other other one? Are they worth a shot?
Dear Batman Arkham Fans - Microsoft has begun the process of closing down Windows Live services over the next year. To make sure there is no interrupted service, we will be moving the game to Steam for verification and update services for both the Base and GOTY versions of Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City.
If you purchased either of the games on Steam all you have to do is let Steam download the latest patch and you will be fine.
If you purchased the games somewhere else you will need to enter the code in Steam. (You can find steps to do this on the bottom of this.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to continue playing from your current save. You will need to start a new game.
Going forward you do not have to worry about where you stored that disc. If you switch computers or go to a friend’s house you simply need to download Steam, log into your account, then go to the library and select to install your game.

Steam achievements are now active for AA?!
Got a free AC GOTY version for having AC vanilla?!
Looks like it's time to play AA again and then finally play AC. Today is a good day!
It's really weird to have both Arkham City AND Arkham City GOTY in my game list.
Audiosurf 2. Something about the easy little game attached to blaring my favorite music just wastes my time away.
