Have they said anything about games besides Street Fighter? If they switched RE5 over to Steam and finally released the DLC on PC, that'd probably get me to replay it.

I used to think it was kind of weird that the GOTY editions of the Batman Arkham games were completely separate on Steam. Now it's going to slightly bother me that I have both editions of each in my games list.

Not being able to carry over your save kinda sucks too, but I'd probably start a new game if I was gonna play either of them again.

Use your categories. Put replaced games in category "Z-Replaced Games" and they'll go down at the bottom of your library, right above uncategorized games.

I primarily use the grid view, which doesn't get separated into categories.

I had to give up grid view, as much as I love my game blanket. It just became total Steam Paralysis. The only way I can keep straight what I want to play when is my extensive categorizing of my games.

Same for me. I stay on the grid view when it doesn't really matter, just because it's pretty. If I know exactly what I want to play, I do the search filter at the top. But when it's time to thumb through and figure out what to play next, I always go to the detailed view so I can see my categories. They absolutely need to add some category options for the grid view.

    Guess they missed a spot.

From what I can tell they only removed GFWL from AA so far, I guess the AC patch didn't roll out yet.

Can play AA just fine with no GFWL or SecuRom, AC however still has GFWL and Securom (At least for me)

So according to this thread in the steam forums, they took it out, a patch brought it back, and now there is another patch out that will take it out again.

    Ladies. Gentlemen. Boys and girls.

We are coming up on my birthday.

Yesterday, one of my favorite games of all time, Kerbal Space Program, dropped what is potentially the greatest update to a game in the history of forever: the first piece of their planned "Career" mode, wherein you must perform SCIENCE!!! to unlock various rocket parts. [Eventually, you will also need to deal with funding, but that comes later.]

These two facts are obviously related.

And so my path is clear. In true Steam thread fashion, I ask you, dear readers, to devise for me a SCIENCE!!! experiment. Best description of a made-up experiment wins your very own copy of Kerbal Space Program, wherein you can perform your own SCIENCE!!! experiments.

To get you started, the first two SCIENCE!!! kits you discover in KSP are:
    1. An unbreakable jar of goo, found by one of the SCIENTISTS!!! while dumpster diving researching alternative applications for existing technologies; you can expose it to vacuum, to the Munar surface, etc., to see what the goo does under various stimuli.
    2. A mini-lab, wherein there's lots of little things that you can also expose to vacuum or to stellar radiation or microgravity.

... but those are the basics. I want something SCIENTIFIC!!!. I want you to justify those three exclamation points.

Entries are open until mid-next-week some time.

    EDIT:

Need to know a little more about the difference between science and SCIENCE!!!? Then read on!
In a science experiment ... when you bombard something with gamma radiation, it gets increased incidence of cancer and / or death.
In a SCIENCE!!! experiment ... when you bombard something with gamma radiation, it turns into a metahuman beast powered by raw rage!!!

In a science experiment ... when something gets bitten by a special spider, its arm blackens and falls off.
In a SCIENCE!!! experiment ... when something gets bitten by a special spider, it gains super strength and the ability to climb sheer surfaces!!!

In a science experiment ... you create a vacuum tube to determine the acceleration due to gravity and the effects of air resistance by dropping something fluffy and light and something dense and heavy.
In a SCIENCE!!! experiment ... you create a vacuum tube to determine how high you have to be standing to drop an unobtanium slug so that it burrows into the Earth's core!!!

In a science experiment ... you place electrodes on someone's head to map brainwaves and gauge instinctual reactions to a series of preselected images.
In a SCIENCE!!! experiment ... you place electrodes on someone's head to map brainwaves and steal their deepest secrets!!!

Science vs. SCIENCE!!!, a Graphical Example:
    20100226.gif

Adding "IN SPAAAAACEEEEE!" is an acceptable way to add an additional ! to a science, SCIENCE!, or SCIENCE!! experiment, but it doesn't have to be a specifically space-travel themed experiment.

They've let everyone in the family sharing group into the beta. I didn't receive an email but I'm in.
I've authorized my PC and my laptop to use my steam library, then logged into each with my wife's account. On the PC it lists 156 of my 174 as available to share, but on the laptop it only lists 7. Anyone else in the beta have something like this happen?

    Early Dark Matter thoughts:

Levels seem pretty huge. Tutorial showed there's got to be some ambition later on because you have like a teleporter you can aim sort of like in the Swapper (minus the clone mechanic) which I was pleasently surprised by. Lot of nice little touches. Like I closed a door via a switch while standing in a doorway. Didn't end well. Combat feels solid. The light levels affect obstacles and monsters in various ways so it's a tradeoff between visibility and danger. The basic enemy, for instance, is enraged by light so will jump at you when you have your flashlight on or engage it in well lit areas. Without light, it's pretty dumb and you can usually waste it before it gets ready to attack. You can sometimes take a stealth approach this way as, for instance, you encounter a fairly powerful enemy early in the second level that is far enough away to ignore you if you don't shine a light on it. The game encourages exploration. You can leave the first level without the shotgun even (it will nudge you to go get it, but won't stop you). Some good eerie music and atmosphere. Game can be saved anytime and has respawn checkpoints you can activate. Crafting is a bit basic so far.

The bad: Presentation is pretty clunky. Your character always faces your cursor and since you're likely moving it a lot this can make for some comical twitching for your character when exploring. Some janky animation and hit detection. I killed a bug near a vent that later gets opened by another bug while you're hacking and this new bug got stuck on the old one. The game isn't particularly scary, and the sort of cartoony bug creatures don't help that much. One of the central mechanics is your free cursor so you can aim, touch logs and buttons. But the majority of this stuff needs you to stand right next to it to work anyways, so it feels a bit neutered. Loot feels a bit boring so far as everything is just generic resources, though again I liked that I had to go find the shotgun. The UI and touching stuff thing makes me think this might have been or is coming to mobile platforms.

Anyways, so far 13 bucks well spent. Could use some polish. This is by the Nuclear Dawn guys who kept patching the shit out of that game despite that nobody played it so I have faith they'll work on it some.

You can strip it out entirely already. A lot of mods flat out require it be disabled anyways. But really, most single player games will be fine, GFWL has support for offline profiles. Multiplayer will likely be the main thing affected.

Plus I honestly do not remember the GOTY edition even HAVING GFWL. I don't have it on my GFWL profile. It never had to install GFWL.

Fallout 3 is weird like that. If I didn't see the "Live" option in the menu, I wouldn't have thought it ever even HAD it.
