Damn that Gunslinger/Blood Dragon bundle! For the longest time, I had those wishlisted, and was debating which to throw my $15 at. I crumpled too soon, though at least I got 'em on sale. Bah.
Any chance someone bought a copy of TWD on sale at some point in a bundle for later gifting they'd be willing to sell me for paypal money? Or anything else on hand they'd like to unload reasonably that a 14 year old girl might like, like maybe one of the Portal games that would run on a decent laptop? If so drop me a note here or on steam, I'd really appreciate it.
I don't have it but you can find Walking Dead cheap on most trading sites. It's on TF2outpost for 2-3 keys which if you bought they from the market would be 5-7.50 USD. I can lend you a hand if you have more questions. Trade sites almost always the best source of games when they just stopped being on a sale.
Thanks a ton I'll look into that! Thanks @orivon for a copy of Frozen Synapse as well!
Electronic Super Joy - the love child of Super Meat Boy and Super Hexagon - is just super. Scratches the same brain itch as Super Hexagon, has great music, and has fun and complex platforming. You can still get it for as low as $1 in the Groupees Be Mine X bundle.
Whoa, serious weirdness on my Steam profile. I definitely owned in the neighborhood of 700-800 games as shown on my profile. Now it says 1,256. I got the badge for 1k+ games and all the profile XP to go with it. My "All Games" page only shows 832 entries...and there's definitely not any extra games in there that weren't there previously.
Did Steam mess up? What's the deal?
It's a bug that started popping up yesterday. Mine was fixed this morning, so just give them a day to fix it.

Yeah, mine just returned to a much more reasonable (?) 810 games.
I had played it a bit earlier in the year; I'd lacked a gamepad at the time, and the mechanics of the game came across as absolutely terrible to me. I've honestly never come across a game whose controls I hated more. The story seemed boring, the world didn't interest me, and Faith came across as having absolutely no characterization. But hey, I had a gamepad now, maybe I'd enjoy the controls?
The very first tutorial level where you need to jump, catch a pipe and swing? I failed that jump about thirty times. And every time I had to watch the short cutscene of how to do it. I finally got through that, and then I had to jump up against a wall and bounce up to catch a ledge? There are games whose handling I'm not fond of. But Mirror's Edge? The keyboard and mouse were terrible, and the gamepad was somehow even worse. It's the only game I can think of that has handling that I actively hate.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

I love you.
I want to like this game, especially since it seems to be so well-liked by others. But every time I've tried to play it, either with KBAM or controller, my experience has been horrible in exactly the way you describe. To date I have still never gotten past the tutorial - I did finish it once but was so annoyed by that point that I could not bring myself to continue.

I've never had any problem with Mirror's Edge. I have to wonder is there some strange dichotomy where some people's control schemes just won't work? I've only ever played it kbam style and had no problems with it.
Also, the generosity of the Steam thread continues to amaze me. So many giveaways that I could enter but I'd feel bad about it since I mostly lurk here and can't afford to contribute anything to the awesomeness that happens here.
Edit: Steam gauge info: "Over the last 4 years, you've spent 4110.9 hours playing this selection, which includes 156 items, is valued at $1865.55, and requires 376.8 GB "
I've probably logged 200+ hours while I had no internet for about 6 weeks, I think that's a pretty good cash/time ratio for me

I found the controls in Mirror's Edge to be a joy. That game was over way too fast for me.

I completed the game and aside from a bit at the very end was frustrated the entire time. The controls and hit detection on things were abysmal, at best, and yeah...it's probably the only major game that some people just love that I actively hate. Usually, even if I don't like a game, I can still see why others might; not so here. My vote for the most overrated game of the last decade.
Personally, I've never enjoyed the feeling of motion or control in any videogame as much as Mirror's Edge, which is what I said in my rec of it two years ago:
A gorgeous art aesthetic and the most satisfying feel of movement in any videogame I've played -- what Mirror's Edge does is almost completely unique even three years later. Simply one of the best, I adore it.
It remains almost completely unique two years more, a condition likely to persist until Mirror's Edge 2 comes out. I don't know the source of some people's great trials with it—clearly it's not meshing with them despite their best efforts—but I'll say that Mirror's Edge is a rough model since your satisfaction increases the better you can maneuver. That's true of a lot of games, but much more so here because ME is primarily a momentum game—when you're doing well, you feel like a force of nature, Bruce Lee's water incarnation flowing over obstacles like a careless deity. You can beat the game, get through all the levels, by being okay, but the constant drops in speed, crawling up all pipes, the slowest possible routes, puzzling how to get over a fence, getting stuck in combat, etc. isn't very satisfying.
When you skip some pipes or shimmy ledges by leaping into the abyss, running along the floorless wall, and kicking back to ground? Or skip the switchback stairs by climbing the walls instead? Or ascend a roof by wallrun-kick-bouncing through the alley and coil-jumping the railing? Exquisite, and unmatched in any game I've seen.

People talk about that specific pipe segment, and I've no lie played through that first course probably over a hundred times and I never would have known people have a problem with that until people started talking about it here.

I really want to play Mirror's Edge again but it seems I don't have the disc with me right now.. soon though, soon I will be falling off those red pipes.
I adore Mirror's Edge, all what... 4 or 5 hours of it?
I really enjoyed the demo when it came out so I played it a bunch, got all the maneuvers down cold, which really didn't take very long, I found everything to be very intuitive. So, when the game actually came out I blazed through the entire thing in a single sitting.
I pre-ordered that game too, slapped don $60 for it. At least I got the messenger bag from the game, I guess. I still use that thing from time to time.
The ONLY thing the X games are missing is some form of Multiplayer.. As much as I love roaming the universe and setting up my Empire, while shooting the shit out of Pirates and other things....I eventually wish I could share how FuckAwesome I am with someone else... anyone else... even You...
*rejoices* Got my new laptop tonight. Re-installing programs will take time, but Steam was one of the first. I'll get to DLing games later, but for now, it just feels good to have a laptop again.
google is telling me those are related to the two worlds epic edition that I just bought (had a 90% off coupon figured wtf, $1). Is there anything I can do about this?

It's been mentioned over the last couple of pages but it's a bug that popped up yesterday and Valve are working on getting fixed. You'll also notice that the total amount of games you own in your profile has skyrocketed.

be patient while they sort it out? It's been happening for about a day now to people and clearing up usually within a day as well.

I'm serious. That pipe is legit glitched. It kinda forces you to the left, and if you don't jump off to the RIGHT, like in a way that should be complete suicide, you clip right through it.
I still have some collectibles to grab, but the credits are currently rolling. Great game, easily the best story/characterization of the trilogy.
Update: credits still rolling.
Does it take longer than the credits on Arkham City? Because, good lord, that took ages... At least I got to hear the Joker singing "Only You (And You Alone)" which put a smile on my face for the whole duration of the song.

I still don't believe anything lasts longer than AssCreed's credits, and the newer the release, the longer the credits.

Am I doing it wrong guys?
From my perception, you're on the right path. But basing this on the people on my friends list, you still just barely above a newbie....
Though, I am pretty much on the same boat.
