Charles goes over to pick up the shoe, and sees what's inside of it. There's a foot with no leg attached. The blood is still fresh.

"It hasn't coagulated yet, this happened recently. I would say 20 minutes ago at most. You might want to figure out who was hanging around here in that time."

Charles gets a little closer.

"What the hell? Jason, you might want to get over here. I think something seriously fucked up has happened here."

@Denada I have an idea about what Charles found, but I'm an improv actor at heart, so I always feel like I should give other people chances to affect the scene. If you want to do something here, I'll go along with it.

James steps quickly next to Charles. "Oh god. What? What did you find?"

Nah man, go for it. I'm enjoying not being in the driver's seat.

I kept trying to come up with something more, but I think this is what James would do, so, that's that. @Sir Fabulous

I think that's a pretty normal response to the situation. If we're writing for realism in our characters, there's not much else to do.
