So me and the Xbox guys (the ones I was playing with anyways) decided last night that although the game isn't all that pretty and the low player count at this point sucks considering we aren't far fro next gen, the game is still a blast to play. And the new maps are overall good stuff. Still have no idea where I am going or doing half the time but that was half the fun of BF3 when it was new. And holy crap, can't wait to unlock the RPG. Anything but the damn LAW. Feels like I am doing the same damage a 320 would be doing (exaggerating. kind of). But it is nice to ding helos with it.

I haven't read anything detailing what is required to get the veteran battlepack, but I did read that veterans not getting the vet bp is a known issue. I doubt it's based on BF3 level because played enough of that to get service stars in all classes, unlock every weapon, and get to some rank high enough that there's nothing left to unlock.
I've been playing BF since Vietnam (the original, not the BFBC2 expansion) and have gotten vet rewards since they started doing that. I have not gotten the vet bp.
I expect it will get resolved soon.

The game got markedly better when I unlocked the RPG. The LAW feels like I'm literally firing grenades it's so weak. The RPG is like a bunker buster in comparison.
Some dude on Reddit says that running the game on borderless window resolved the crashing for him. I'll try that, and you should too and see if it's true.

The M249 is such a fucking beast. I think I wiped ThatGuy's entire squad multiple times on Locker Room.
I felt like a heavy from TF2.
Top Floor Exit to Outside. One squad on the innner tower side one outside. They're exchanging rockets, nades, and pot shots.

Full choke on the shotguns does really weird things to the way they work. DICE is doing some really funny math somewhere, because it's possible to miss people you didn't miss if your accuracy penalties are high enough, it seems.
Right now I'm actually most pleased with the Saiga amongst the shotguns. The magazine size / being a magazine in the first place is nice, the fire rate is reasonable, the accuracy seems reasonable enough, the damage is decent. Seems really well rounded. I'll keep you updated on the shotgun news as I get more.

The Saiga and the Hawk are the only shotguns I've used so far that actually feel usable.
Shotguns were nerfed pretty hard across the board, which is fucking stupid considering how powerful all the other firearms are now.

Hopped on the Angry Dome last night. Never played much BF3, so im still jumping around classes doing whatever trying to find out what I think is fun and works for my playstyle.

That's good to know, because I'm not particularly enjoying the SP Campaign. Is it just me or is it super easy? I'm playing on hard and I only die if I get bored and try rushing the enemy positions.
I liked the SP campaign but I died/had to restart from checkpoints multiple times because I would outpace scripted events and fuck the game up some terribad.

I didn't get Veteran status in BF3 until like a month or two after the game was released.
It was like super delayed.
I had fun playing last night, I made it through 2 whole rounds before I got a driver error. I think it's time to just buckle down and get a new video card, I've tried everything else. DX11 games just crash with driver errors after about an hour, every time, without fail.

Just a heads up, if you friend me on Battlelog and I don't accept, don't take it personally when I decline, but my list is hella full.
Kind of annoyed I have to wait until Friday for my premium key from GMG. The only consolation for being LTTP is that there's plenty of stuff to mess around with on Battlelog.

alternatively what I did:
1) Launch Origin
2) Origin downloaded and installed BF4
3) played BF4

I had a completely different set of frustratingly stupid-yet-simple problems: Punkbuster.
Battlelog kept telling me I didn't have PB installed. So I go through the process of installing it myself. Still no dice. I mess around in the install directory and don't find PB there. I try installing again and take note of the default install directory. It's the BF4 Beta directory, sort of (not even the right location for the Beta).
So, I install PB in the correct directory and Bob's your uncle. It works.
Are there any xboxers on this thread? If so let me know so we can squad up.
Anyway, the only thing I'm not really liking about the game so far is the sniping. I don't know if the bullet velocity has gone up or what but I'm having a hard time leading my shots. It just feels kind of off. I guess I just need to spend some more time with it.
I do love the fact we got c4 back. Now I feel like I can do some sneaky sneaky recon work again.

The constant crashing is getting to me. It is basically expected that every other map on any given server will result in a crash. My game crashing is less certain but still a thing that is slowly ruining my fun.
I've really enjoyed what I've played so far, even thought most of it is SP. I have played 2 multi games and have K/D of 2.0 so that's good. Unlocks are hella-slow, but whatever. Have to take the bad with the good. But honestly, how am I ever going to get enough points in any aircraft to unlock stuff? It's really disheartening.
But the SP is fun. Story isn't bad. Difficulty on Hard hits a good spot of making me pay attention but still having a sense of urgency when in combat. Gets another gold star for not resorting to endless enemy spawns like CoD. Unlocking stuff for multi is a good idea too. I'm really glad the M249 LMG is good! That's what I want out of SP. The starter LMG (U100?) is good on burst fire but I just don't like it that much.
But there absolutely needs to be a way to skip the PDWs. I was disappointed there was no SP carbine unlock. Thankfully unlocking carbines means doing anything with the engineer class. So repairs and anti vehicle work a-hoy!

I agree. I am not a fan of the PDWs. The flip side to this is that as carbines will be usable by all classes I anticipate enjoying the sniper/recon class for the first time ever when I suit up as a BF2 Special Forces.

I've found the zeroing your rifle is immensely helpful for long-range shots. I look at the nearest Cap point to my target, set my zero at that range, and then shoot them. Such an awesome new feature that still takes some skill to use effectively.
I also love the canted ironsights. I like to use the DMRs with an ACOG, but it's wonderful being able to switch to a sight more appropriate for CQC.
