The main question is if he can handle the switch in.

If Heracross is sent in as soon as you see Aegislash, he's gonna take, at maximum, one unboosted attack followed by an unboosted Shadow Sbeak, or one +2 Shadow Sneak.

I would hesitate not. Heracross isn't too bulky on the physical side, but even if it could take a +2 Sacred Sword + Shadow Sneak, it has to be able to 2HKO it. It doesn't have STAB EQ, but maybe Choice Band EQ could just edge it out with max attack + nature.

Damn I love houndoom and had him on my competitive diamond team. But he seems to just die instantly to so many types now

    Maybe try Houndoomite.

    Where is Heracross in Y?

I haven't come across one yet.
Heracross are exclusive to X, Pinsir to Y.

Ironically, their respective Mega Stones have the inverse exclusivity.
    this is wrong
heracross is in Y, pinsir in X. they are extremely rare. its like route 13 or some shit 12.

I'll ask again: does anyone playing Y wanna swap Heracrossite for Pinsirite?

Is that something you need to beat the e4 to get?

If not I can try to get it for you.

Yeah, you only have access to most of the Mega stones after beating the game.

    That'd be great, thanks.

Well I haven't beaten it yet... but if no one offers before I do you can just have mine because I won't ever use it :P

He can do okay on sun teams too, since he learns Solar Beam. But yeah, he needs focus sash since he's so frail.

Mega Houndoom has 90's in both defenses and gets a nice boost in the sun, but he's still very much a glass cannon.

If I want to put a Nidoking in my party for the purpose of throwing down Toxic Spikes would it make sense to max speed even though his base speed isn't great?

Or would it make more sense to try and make him bulky enough to survive the first round?

Yeah I'm not really sure what I want to run this game. It's nice that I've been able to switch around my team so many times though much easier.

The only thing that's stuck out at me like "this is a monster I must have him" so far is goodra though. Holy hell goodra

If you're not going to make use of Nidoking's Speed, you might as well use Nidoqueen for its extra bulk. Nidoking has a bit more attack and speed, ideal for wallbreaking with Sheer Force.
