Speaking of bounties I saw two players meta'ing it up hard the other day. They would hop onto the back of the cargo train that travels around the north part of the map, put a $1000 dollar bounty on either or both their heads and then wait for the carnage to start. Being on the train meant that they had the handiness of auto aim, but also the train kept them from being a stationary target. Myself and two other WANGs arrived around the same time as two puggers. The guys on the train were also really good shots. I myself died at least half a dozen times.

It was pretty ridiculous, but also pretty fun. Might have to give it a go myself some time.

what's the population like on the autoaim side? I know I run into a few large crews on freeaim.

    Awesome. :)
Nope, the trains in 5 are pretty much invincible (unless scripted to crash), even the huge dump truck or a couple of trailers loaded with sticky bombs won't stop/derail them.
Shame. San Andreas had drivable and derail-able trains. Hopefully mods on the PC version will fix this.

Also autoaim isn't instant win, depending on weapon you can't even get a lock on an enemy at certain ranges. Though it does direly make me wish you could have specific weapon type death matches, or specific weapons not allowed.

Like sticky bombs in some of the tighter maps really take away any of the intended shoot out corridors. Or sniper rifles on the horrific "both sides start far away from each other" maps.

nah, I don't think autoaim is instant win at all. just wondering about how the crews roll there... I got messaged about a crew greifing another crew by using passive mode in the annihilator or something odd that I need to research, but you guys got any beefs?

I mean, with a border-line psychopath like Jay on the squad... how could you not? :P

I don't play deathmatch, but I've had a lot of luck recently strafing around corners with my gun aimed at head level rather than trying to move around the corner normally and lock on with auto aim.

This comment is an interesting glimpse into a flawed mindset that many people have irl:
At first I didn't want the $500k, as I thought it might ruin the game a bit. Knowing it was coming though, I started adjusting my spending. We still don't have it. Now I'm broke.

Probably the worst decision R* made wasn't offering us this money, but saying they would and then indefinitely delaying it.

Did y'all know that you can have someone climb into the back of the Duneloader (the Dodge Powerwagon looking pickup) and they can use the cab for cover. This way you can have a driver, a passenger, and a guy in the bed using the cab as cover. The guy back there can use cover as he normally would and will stick and not get thrown out. The driver and passenger will see his body glitch everywhere when hitting bumps and stuff, but he won't get thrown. And the guy in the bed can use any weapon in his inventory.

Does this work with other pickups?

Also apparently there's a Suburban/Excursion-like SUV that allows your buddies to hand off the running boards like the Secret Service (though they are easy to knock off). The guys hanging on the outside can use assault rifles and aren't just limited to the Micro SMG.

Also the vans are neat because two can get in the back and shoot out the back. Including the massively armored SWAT van. Which is great until you're riding on one tire...

That's the police SUV that comes out once you hit 4 stars. ONly police vehicle you can steal and keep (tracker/insure) a few of us have it. Instead of a horn the siren/lights turn on and cars will brake or pullover if you have it on while driving.

I figured as much. There's also a civilian version I think called the Grainger (https://gta.wikia.com/Granger).

From the post, it looks like there's some rockstar verification system in place to stop people from doing that. Bungie did something similar with their featured gametypes.

skippymchaggis is #3 with 910,540 RP. He made $10.7mil in car sales.

The Top 10 are all Xbox 360 players.

The Top 4 PS3 players are:
    isaac-car
    LtFragg
    bretonbrawler
    Mbannick

I'm not surprised the 360 guys are way up there. The 360 version was connecting and working earlier than the PS3 version, so they had more time to run repeat missions while those were still a thing.

But you may also notice, PS3 regulars, that my name isn't on that list. You may also have noticed I haven't been playing much with you all the last few days. That is unfortunately because this:

    sUc0Gw2.jpg

    + the Character Selection Screen
+ Rockstar's Terrible Button assignments and menu system

    =

    i7Av9em.jpg

    Now for a little explanation.

I wanted to see what the male character intro and male character customization options were like, as I had played exclusively with a female character since launch. So I created a second character, played around for a bit, realized that I didn't like the customization options nearly as much, then backed out to the character screen to switch back. Only at that point I got a phone call IRL, and left the game at the character select screen. Not thinking much of this, I finished the call, and then tried to reselect my character. Only when I grabbed the controller, I wasn't paying full attention, so my thumb hit the square button for a split second before the X selection button. In Rockstar's infinite wisdom, they decided that not only should the delete button be next to the selection button, but that the delete character confirmation screen should default to YES. So in one swift motion, 2.8 million in spent GTA bucks, and ~650,000 in RP, went down the drain. I couldn't laugh, couldn't cry, just kind of stared at the screen for a while. Then just shut off the game.

I've since submitted two support tickets to R★, but don't expect to hear anything back from them anytime soon, given the number of people playing this game. I've also created another new character; I deleted the male one in disgust, and to test that indeed it was THAT EASY to delete a character (it really, really is). But I'm still of course very low level compared to what I was, and my enjoyment of the game has certainly lessened as a result of this "little" mishap. I had around $225k in the bank, so I didn't start completely at square 1, but with so much lost (and with many other games vying for my attention very soon), I'm having a hard time staying interested in re-climbing that mountain.

So yeah, a cautionary tale. Stay away from the character selection screen at all costs.

    ATTENTION
If you're mentioned in this post, it's because you've been flagged as potentially not participating in GTA Online. If that's the case, we're going temporarily move you from We Are Nice Guys into We Are Nice Guys too. As we are at the Crew limit, "too" has been created as an overflow Crew for folk who want to be in the G&T Crew, but aren't actively participating in GTA Online. Getting moved back into WANG (prime) is as easy as asking to get moved back.

I've done my best to manually verify this list, but it's entirely possible it contains errors. If you believe that I am in error, please toss me a PM or a notification so we can get it worked out.

I'm on 360 so can't do much for you, but you could actually grind that back sort of fast running criminal records with someone, they could actually do it with a second temp / scrub character if they don't want to 'taint' their main.

I don't remember exactly how much RP, but you make around $5k for 2 races on Criminal Records ($3200 for 1st, $1600? for 2nd). Which can be done in around 3 minutes, assuming the menu system doesn't stick you in forever loads.

my numbers are from memory, certain races do pay better than others, I believe down the drain and the commute were some of the better ones, along with the race downtown with a small jump, cant remember the name.
edit: number of laps change some payouts as well. the sweet spot is around 3 laps, 1 lap is a low payout and any more than 3 seems to be no benefit

Isn't Toronto basically a US enclave anyway? :P

    haha ask the Buffalo Bills!
I've been trying to play Dark Souls before my gold subscription on XBOX dies and I decide to retire the account, don't want to have to solo any of those bosses without co-op. Nearly done, and then it's full steam PS3 GTA:Online.

Got a general question I can't quite get a straight answer... when I am in lobbies, I see "deathmatches", "races", sometimes a parachute jump... or return to freemode.

But how do I get to play these cool missions you guys keep talking about? The "survivals" or the other "jobs" that give huge amount of $$ and RP? Have I just not progressed to a high enough level in online to get phonecalls from the NPCs to do these kinds of jobs?

I enjoy the gametypes in the lobbies, sure, but I really like the co-op PvE stuff as there always feels like there's more chance for awesome stuff to happen when the odds are stacked against a small group of people!

Anybody see the pool? They flipped the bitch!
