Max Payne 3 was an amazing port. January would have been a way better month to launch (they're now releasing on Bloodborne day), I actually think they're being honest when they say it's to polish it up.
I'm just curious why the PC version needs 4 months of additional polishing over the console versions when the architecture is very similar.
PC hardware can be all manner of funky configurations that you're trying to get to play nice, whilst console hardware is like, this CPU, this RAM, this graphics processor now go.
Regarding the thread title, the press release says
GTA Online for PC, which will support up to 30 players, will launch alongside GTAV for PC and will include GTA Online Heists. Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch.
It looks like heists will come out for consoles before the PC launch, so at least there's that for those who already own it.

Yeah, I know, but somehow most other AAA games can manage simultaneous releases these days. I would just like more details on why a second delay was necessary.
So, random thought for the day; the roads where the gold/chrome Dubstas spawn are the best roads in the game. When you finally grab one and you're heading down that hill it's like the road was designed solely for power-sliding. And you know the road where the Rooftop Rumble tries to take you up, even though it's quicker to turn left? Aww man, that thing is road porn coming downhill. Just when you start to lose control you let go of accelerate and steer hard right and somehow you always drift on smoothly like a boss.
Since this is kind of a weird post, here is something useful;
Gold / chrome Dubstas sell for 23k a pop. BUT! If you change Suspension to Stock (costs $200.00) and then back to what it was originally you can apply the Sad Trombone horn for free. This puts the Sell price up to 35k.
Any car can get the Trombone horn for free too, although the technique is different. If it's a car off the street go into Suspension, scroll through the options but don't buy anything. Then go back to the top menu and apply the horn for free. This way you can sell Ballers and Felons for 22k a pop as well.
Is this in MP? I thought you couldnt sell a car worth over 10k?

To be fair, it does have more functionality with the replay/recording features. Also the insinuation is that the textures will be nicer so we can play in 4k.

I guess they encountered bugs that they wanted to fix. I don't think there's anything more to it than that.

I'm sorry but the $59.99 that I put down on this game clearly demands more information be given to me, and yesterday.
edit: but in all seriousness, a delay is better than yet another AAA game being released to meet a deadline and then heavily patched shortly after due to bugs and whatnot... aka the year 2014 in gaming.

Option A)
They release a sub par game, that is broken in some way. Players get angry they released the game early, stop playing before the first patch. Everyone says "Man Rockstar's PC ports suck!"
Option
They delay and then release a functional, complete game. Players get angry they have to wait for it, but are happy when they receive they game they wanted and it works as intended at launch. Everyone says "Man Rockstar's PC ports rock!"
The real pickle juice poured on the paper cut (for me, at least) was that they announced their reinforcement that there was no delay mere days before announcing the delay.

I wouldn't be quite so sore if we hadn't learned of this two weeks from the PC release. I mean, really.

230 bugs to fix on the wall.
edit: by which I mean they could've been ready to go, made one fix to a bug, and been hit with a new problem that needed more time. I'm sure they're just as keen to launch it as you are to play it.

It's in multiplayer, yes. I think the 10k rule refers to the sell value of a car BEFORE any mods are added (a base value). So the Dubsta, for example, would sell for 8k un-modified (I think. It's in that ballpark). The Dubsta is therefore a sellable car. That the game has added a bunch of mods to the car already doesn't affect the ability to sell; Dubstas can be sold, and these cars are just modified Dubstas.
They spawn around Madrazo's place between 8am and 3pm. Driving another SUV should help the spawn rate. Zig also gave me a great tip; there's a mission called 'Time To Go', and the clock is frozen at noon throughout the entire mission. You can take as long as you need, store a few gold / chrome Dubstas in your garage and then quit the mission. Then you can sell them in free roam.
Steam preorders are up. $60 pc release. That's a bit too pricey for me.
Preorder bonus is the same, 500k off/online, only now you get another 300k online, and a copy of vice city. The issue to me is that preorder bonus stops in early february, where before it went up to day of release before basically. I was going to try and find a copy cheaper as I didnt even pay 60$ for the game preorder on either console.

eh
it shouldn't take this long, but Rockstar aren't known for good PC ports so they're probably having to get used to working in that space
the delay doesn't really upset me because the Rockstar that released GTA 4 would have just said "fuck it, ship it" no matter how shit it was

That's a pretty lame pre-order bonus, but I'm getting it anyway so might as well. GMG it is.

With that offer and duration they may be trying to get people to pull the trigger now vs wait for the inevitable PC sales, etc?
edit:
it's also not just Vice City, it's a choice from:
Max Payne 3
L.A Noire
GTA: Tales from Liberty City
GTA 4
Bully
GTA: San Andreas
Max Payne 2
GTA: Victy City
Midnight Club II
GTA III
Though I'm not sure why some of those games are included...

There is room for option C.
They delay the game and when it's finally released players still get a bug ridden unoptimized mess. GTA IV wasn't the best port too.
That selection of games is only if you preorder from Rockstar's Warehouse. Any other vendor will only get you San Andreas (from what I'm seeing). It should also be noted that if you preorder from GMG for that 23% discount, you will be getting the non-Steam version. From GMG's page: "This game will be delivered as a Rockstar Games Social Club redemption code. Customers will require a free Rockstar Games Social Club account to play." The only Steam key mentioned is for GTA: SA. So if Steam is a make-or-break thing, it might be time to evaluate what your breaking point is on what kind of discount you're willing to take to compromise on Steam inclusiveness.

Yeah, here's the Rockstar URL for that. But you have to buy from Rockstar's digital store, which means those "free" games have a $13.80 price tag when compared against GMG.

The deciding factor for me is whether or not the Steam version will utilize Steam's social aspects (i.e. being able to quickly join a friend's GTA Online game). If it's the same functionality regardless of Steam or not-Steam, then I'd rather save the 23%...

That's not exactly what I'm concerned about. If the Steam version lets me join my friends as easily as I can join their Saint's Row games (right-click their name in my friend's list and select "Join Game"), then that's going to be pretty handy for me. But, if the Steam version still requires you to be in the game first and go through the in-game Online menu to join a friend's game, then I'd rather get the GMG version.

Yes, you're mistaken, Far Cry 3 used Uplay.
Someday you'll be able to use your Origin account to sign in to Uplay, and then use that to sign into GFWL, and then RSC Oauth into your Steam/Humble Bundle accounts, but sadly that dystopia technology isn't there yet.
I have a nagging suspicion that it will be similar (if not the same) as how GTA Online works in PS4/XBone-Land: start GTA5, go through the loading screen and either let the game load into single player and then choose GTA Online, or go through the loading screen and quick-drop into an online session with default settings.
Personally, the two main draws of being on Steam (for me) is that Steam social integration (which doesn't apply to GTA5) and Steam In-Home streaming (which is negated since if I want to stream to my Surface Pro 2 which is attached to my TV, I'll just play the XBone version). I guess maybe Steam Broadcasting might have been neat...but that's not exactly worth nearly $14 to me. (And, at this point, I'm mostly just rationalizing my decision to go with GMG)

GMG has confirmed no Steam code for GTAV (just one for GTA:SA), which puts me on the fence. I haven't used whatever service Rockstar provides and don't really want to start, but still, $14. I'm sure if Steam pre-loads (it most likely will), Rockstar will, but sometimes GMG doesn't get their keys until the last second. Decisions.
