Maybe my first round, 3-1 victory will inspire you to finally pull through sir.
This game wasn't really pretty. Jax hit Jax status, Lee Sin got fed early which is horrible if you're Shaco. I was significantly better than Graves but I had never gone against Annie support and Sona and I didn't really seem to be on the same page most of the time; engages I think we could have easily won...weren't.
And then I double killed them bot with an Ahri gank and it was basically over. Graves started 4/0/1 and it kinda just went downhill from there.
Start E. Don't listen to people who say start W, they're liars. W is only better if you have a garbage leash and no concerns about an invade. Start W if you're in jungler hell and people refuse to leash worth a damn.
E procs your blast shield and E is much better if you need to get into any stupid level 1 jungle fights. If you're starting with a good leash, E can often let you clear at near full health without using a single pot. EFFICIENT!
Level 2 is Q or W, depending on what you want to do. Q--E Vi has a terrifying mid gank right after Blue, few people see it coming and it can usually force a flash or a quick first blood. If you did a smiteless start, always take W so you can immediately rush Red (to maximize the benefit from saving your early smite). Generally W is safer and more efficient, but if you think an early gank top or mid can work, go Q. If I have to smite my first buff I often go Q after E, so I can wait a bit before taking Red and have my smite up for it.
R>Q>W>E. Max Q for more uptime on evasive targets and more burst damage during ganks. Max W second because its easy free damage to compensate for building tanky in early midgame. You can max E over W if you really need burst, especially if you want to build glass-cannon-instamurder Vi (to maximize your AD ratio benefit in short fights), but that's a niche build.
First item is Spirit of the Ancient Golem. Its just too good. Boots of Swiftness are great because they reduce the self-snare on Q, get mobility / swiftness / tabi as appropriate based on team and performance.
Primary offensive items are Triforce, Black Cleaver, and /or BorK. Usually TF / BC is enough for you to do "holy balls the ADC is dead?!?!" damage. Get an early Phage and Brutalizer for maximizing your gank potential, Brutalizer + Ancient Golem is 20% CDR (more ults), Phage has great synergy with Vi's gank style (temporary speedbuff is great after forced engage). Golem + Phage is usually enough "tanky" stats to be at least a little durable for a good while. All 3 in tandem make you a murder machine, but also leave you pretty vulnerable to focus fire. If you're working as the team's anti-bruiser, the 3 combined let you make crazy quick work of champs like Nasus and Renekton.
Tanky items, Randuins is mandatory. Synergy with your ultimate is too strong, unstoppable dive + fuck you everybody be slow. Locket is a good pickup for any jungler, but its a little less useful on Vi (aura items on a dive champion are always a little sub-optimal). Spirit Visage is grossly underrated as an item and gets you an easy 40% CDR without runes or masteries. Banshee's Veil is a little redundant thanks to Vi's Ult, but it can also be a hilarious way to ignore gigantic CC chains while shouting "GET DUUUUUNKED!" If you're somehow fed enough to be looking at a full 6 item build against an AD team, Randuins + Warmogs or Randuins + Sunfire can both make you terrifying durable.
Wits End is garbage on Vi, don't buy it. Frozen Mallet is overrated and too specialized, it has no CDR (CDR = more uptime, faster ults), and it has little in the way of offensive stats. Get a FM if you need to shut down split pushers like Tryndamere, as you can always catch them with Q + R and then keep them in place with FM. Unless you're "anti-pooting," don't get FM.
Hydra is fun but a bit spendy for the results, purchase if you're fed and ahead for laughs. Bloodthirster is plenty of damage for Q - E - R - E, but Vi scales well with CDR and AS as well as AD, so its overspecialized for one purpose.
Lategame and fed: Look for good engages on enemy targets. Flash + Q + R lets you dive on almost anyone who wanders away from their team, Vi is great at picking off stragglers to create 5v4 scenarios. Coordinate with burst damage champs to guarantee anything you use R on dies. Be aware of how easy it is to overextend with Vi, don't get baited.
Best engage is usually to hit someone with your Q and then save your R until people try to disengage. Depends on champions and positioning. Using R to dash through an enemy team and blow up an ADC feels good, bro.
Lategame and not fed: If you have a competent assassin / burst mage, you are their support. They want someone dead? Done deal, that target gets dunked and served on a delicious can't-move-oh-god-I'm-charmed platter.
If you don't have someone who can be your dive buddy, or your team just isn't doing well with dives, you can run interference for your team and save your R as your trump card. Use Q + E + autos to discourage bruisers from bothering your ADC, W lets you do enough damage to them to make you scary. Use R to counter dives (turns out a Jax stunned in the middle of an entire team doesn't survive very long at all) or save it as a teamfight tool, use it after you're done screening and the enemy ADC has committed to actually fighting.
Runes have some flexibility, but AS / Armor / MR/level is a safe and reliable jungle standard.
Overall good advice, but myself I tend to maximize E first and build Triforce as the only offensive item. Triforce a Q+AA+E+AA combo on a squishy will almost one-shot it.
Then build Randuins and just laugh in the faces of everyone.
Never build glass cannon Vi, not worth it. IDGAF Vi deals very good damage and is very hard to kill.
If you're comfortable hitting your Q, i tend to max it first. R-Q-E-W. It has a high damage with just a couple ranks and it shortens the CD by quite a bit.

Had the most entertaining but demented normal last night. 3 man premade--Jinx, Xerath support, Talon mid. Another guy calls jungle and I panic and take Darius top although I cannot play top or Darius. The other four players take teleport and encourage me to (I thought they were a 4-man because of this, but Zac was just having fun); we then all have teleport. Zac pings every time he turns into blobs and we all teleport onto his blobs, crushing opposing jungler Fiddlesticks. I feed uncontrollably vs top Teemo and basically don't farm at all; this seem to have no effect on the game as I slowly build my tanky items and teleport to teamfights. We win easily due to really odd teleport-enabled teamwork (sometimes Zac doesn't even have to ping, we just watch him and teleport as appropriate).
I really want to get Fiora, but I hear so many terrible things about her I'm afraid I will only end up using her against bots. Hope the rework is on its way.
I really like Fiora (RULER HITTING) but in a game where Jax, Yi, and Tryndamere exist like they do, I don't understand how they can leave her in her highly milquetoast state.
Fiora is sort of like Yi in how situational she is. You only pick her when you have a good matchup for laning and someone else to initiate. You need people focusing other people first to be effective, as you need to be #2/3 into the fight, much like Yi/Riven. Then you need to be doing so much damage that 3 people are dead by the time their stuns come back up, as otherwise you're just dead.

In the right situation Fiora is incredibly fun to play. Unfortunately those situations are few and far between.
I'm still hoping that Riot completely removes random chance from criticals for Season 4.
I'm truly hoping to see criticals being autoattack enhancers with a few select champions having skills that scale off crit as well, those would be the current melee ADCs like Yi and Fiora.
As for Fiora I'd rather she get a rework into a really flashy and squishy AD caster kit that focuses on good timing to dodge or parry incoming damage and has abilities that scale off AD and Crit, possibly animations that scale off attack speed.
Hey do we happen to have a room set up or a decent amount of people on the PBE? I have everything and then some, and wanted to do some testing on all the new changes (that haven't been puled yet like Xerath). I still need to input all my runes, masteries and Items which I'll do tomorrow when I have time.
Yeah, it was Riot's slightly heavy handed way of dealing with the duo queues stomping games problem... only they didn't really tell everyone they changed it and we only noticed since Dom players were constantly resorting to Jabebot and other matchmaking tracking tools to check and record hidden ELO.
Season 4 for me is going to be Lich Bane Sona in every single game
It's going to be great
I love love LOVE getting Sona on ARAM just for that. Start with a chalice, and boots. By the time I've finish the Pimp Ensemble (hat, cane, & cup), she is a floating poke / sustain machine.

If anything I'd expect more of stuff like Annie and so on to come into use. People who can pull off supporting early and transition well.
Riot need to get the utility scaling on traditional supports right, otherwise, yeah, they're going to get phased out in favour of other characters with stronger late-games (be that mages or bruisers).
If, say, Nami can wind up with a 2.5 second AOE stun and bonus magic damage on her E then she'd be worth running over a support Annie whose utility won't scale well. At the very least you'd have to make the decision between whether you want to emphasize damage or utility on the champ you pick to play support, which is a decision that I'd like to be able to make!

I really hope 'increased utility' isn't code for 'longer/harder cc'
because I really don't want to see a fid bottom with a 6 second fear

If this magical + utility thing gave Leona more bonus damage on her passive procs that'd be kinda hilarious late game.

I felt filled with apathy cause no matter what I wanted to do they would intentionally(?) fuck up that thing.
*makes grabby motions at the changes*
I am totally sick of this season, and can't wait for it to be over.

Apparently they went to see who was on the bottom of the list for Twitch LoL. :P
If we're going to just throw around images then I'd like to show Sona ready to use all her extra gold next season.

Is that right? If that's the case then I can certainly see a reason to not do it! That explains quite a lot...

Sona is basically an auto-win in ARAM.
The worst thing is that support Nidalee might actually be decent if she's guaranteed to get a solid income
YOU TAKE THAT BACK. YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW.
GOOOOO.
I actually kind of want to do that right now, that sounds hilariously mean.

they heard you were streaming an aram with me and followed hoping to catch a glimpse of the king of howling abyss
I run that 1% because it's optimal, not because I think it's good for the game.
