upping the difficulty helps with the mid corner braking, but the AI will still divebomb you on certain corners. Really, what's happening is that they hold their line, they won't check up even if they are way off line. They also have this divebomb mentality of needing to get on the line as soon as possible. They'll going flying over to the driving line if they go off track, whether you're there or not.

So the haptic feedback in this might be the most "next gen" thing I've experienced so far, in terms of "Okay, that wasn't possible last gen". Makes driving with a controller really enjoyable. I also await a set of pedals that applies the haptics to the gas and brake pedals.

Got my first Drivatar that's aggressively hitting other cars. Man that fucks up the race pretty good ...
Coming down the back straight of Spa heading into the hard chicane, and he plows sideways into the guy behind me part way down the straight before careening into me at full speed as I turn in. The worst part is that you can't be a dick back because you know that'll just make your drivatar stupid for everyone else.
M3 GT2 just as good as ever. Sadly no Le Mans art car, but I can't have everything I suppose.
Edit: Also got M3 Collector when i bought it, need dem.
edit edit: also the AI is fucking garbage at Eau Rogue/Radillion. No you don't need to slow your GT2 car down to 50 mph to go through this corner, stop it.
edit edit edit: because nobody else is talking, beat my LaFerrari time on Prague by 2 seconds with my M3 GT2. Bestttttt.

The E21 is totally bonkers. They gifted it to VIP people earlier this week and it's just so scary. Cars shouldn't go around corners that fast. Did Le Mans with it, 170+ mph with no braking through the Porsche curves. the most terrifying ever.
Edit: Forza 5 is real pretty.

Holy shit. I did the R18 rivals event because I felt like something different.
Race cars are RIDICULOUSLY fun to drive. They're generally way more stable than standard RWD cars, the gearing is hugely better overall, and the increased leniency for invalidation makes it feel WAY more race-like where you skip just a little further at the exit of a corner than you want, but you aren't penalized for it.
I'll try and make a video at some point, but to me it is the single biggest change between old physics and new physics.

The best way to make a video, for anyone interested in doing so, is to save a replay, snap the game DVR (at least to load it, you can unsnap it while you watch), watch the replay in whatever camera you want to save, go to the snapped game DVR and hit "End Clip" for however much time you need (up to 5 minutes), then go into your clips and trim it to the desired length. After that, you can upload it to your Skydrive and if you have Skydrive installed on your PC, it should be waiting there in a Youtube-able format.
Was the digital read-out on the steering wheel bugged or did you just forget to downshift in the final corner?

So I'm getting good at responding to that haptic feedback in the accelerator trigger, learning to feather the throttle and all that...but I am not reacting well to the feedback in the brakes. Currently I'm playing with ABS on, so what is the brake haptic feedback trying to tell me? I would assume with ABS off it's trying to tell me that I'm locking the breaks up, but I'm really not sure what it's telling me with ABS on. Is it still trying to give me grip feedback? I know it goes nuts if I incorrectly turn in while still applying the brake, so maybe that's it.

In the final corner? I was going through in 2nd so that's where it should have been. On the final straight/finish line when it was revving in third? I was reaching for the button to finish the race and didn't bother shifting up.
I guess i meang that you were still in 6th entering into that final left and didnt shift down into 2nd until you were already turning left. I was also not fully conscious when I watched it.

has anyone ever noticed that Turn10 apparently has no idea what opacity even means. Fun experiment: paint your car with the black and white swirly camo then add a like 0.75 opacity colored vinyl over it... MAGIC.
as far as reactions go: I'm liking the game but the controller is a little meh. Not enough tension in the springs for the triggers, massive deadzones on either end of the throw, and not enough throw distance in the triggers themselves makes for an extremely small margin of analog control.
FYI, if you haven't checked Forzamotorsport.net and the Rewards page, do so now. I just got 6 million credits. That, plus a 50% off weekend equals CAR SPREE.
I went on one earlier today already. Between CR and burning up my freebie tokens, I think I bought a good dozen cars.

The key to playing in hoppers is to not go aggressive into the first few corners and let the derps all murder each other. Then sneak past the fireball.
Oooor just play with us whenever we start. We'll still kill you sometimes, but it's mostly due to incompetence and we'll feel really bad about it.
And yea, just got 4 million credits from forza rewards and in 800 points i'll get another million. Tiem to go buy all the cars. Sadly never got my F12berlinetta from being Tier 4, but shrug.

Edit: Yup, just bought basically every car ingame i want except a couple GT2 cars, an indy car just to have, and the stupidexpensive trio of the GTO/Testa Rossa/Shelby Daytona.

5 Million for me, and just under 500 points away from tier 6. That should happen in no time at this rate.
And yes, once I actually have some cars, I'll be happy to start doing multiplayer races. I'm getting enough of a handle on driving that I don't think I'll be a threat to everyone on the track all the time now. :
I wonder how long it would take me to earn 194 points in Forza 4. I don't have Forza 5 yet but I'm not against earning some credits before I even have the game.

Entirely depends on what you're "missing" from Forza 4. Realistically, you can buy 300 points for around $5, if you were so inclined.
Otherwise, achievements and buying cars is about the fastest way to do it (assuming you maxed out miles driven and such, which will add up quickly too if you haven't).
I've done that already, i can assure you it did not go that well.

I got it to go earlier, but it was timing out in Chrome and I had to switch to IE to get it to actually redeem. It's done that before under load, but if you're having problems try a different browser. And yeah, the forum login is different from the main page login (same account, your live account, but different sign-ins).

I decided to have fun with this. I hadn't used an F1 car so far. In fact, outside of my previously mentioned spin in the R18, most of my cars have been C-class or lower. So jumping into an X-class screamer felt like a terrible and awesome idea. 2-lap race later, and I leave you guys with this. I figure I'm pretty much pro, and should be hired by a real racing team ASAP.

I was feeling pretty good about myself and decided to turn off all assists. Including simulation steering. The tiniest bump of the thumbstick sent my Mini into random cookies in the middle of straights. heh Until I can get a wheel I just won't ever be able to get enough control with my left thumb. I just don't see how people can steer so well with a tiny range of input.
So I managed to redeem my first set of rewards finally. I'm still at Tier 0. I would imagine that I will get some credit for past progress in the game now that I'm logged in?
EDIT: It updated later and I'm Tier 3. It's nice to see them give me credit for past games I've played, too.
Articboogie... your driveatar gave me a very good race on Bathurst right up until he got caught in the race leader wrecking in the downhill.
This driveatar stuff is great, I'm usually half a lap ahead of the best AI on Forza 4... this is the 2nd from top AI here and I have to drive to get 1-3 now. Perfect.
