Hey everyone, Forza noob here. I'm trying to figure out how to get telemetry to show up. Anyone know where in the menus I can turn it on at? Also, I'm looking for some guides on how to upgrade and tune my cars to get the most out of them. Does anyone have any links or info that they wouldn't mind passing on?

Press down on the dpad to bring up the telemetry window. then left and right to flip through the panes.
Edit: Eclibull, you were saying the Xbow is uncontrollable? It's stupid stable, can do basically anything you want to it and it'll never get too far out of shape. So basically the polar opposite of the Atom V8.
You know there's nothing sadder than getting an awesome car and the designs for it our so boring. I'm sorry once you've tasted the cup of awesome that is the howling wolf with moon, there is no going back to black with flame.

You can search through the designs iirc, don't just have to page through the recommended ones. Though if i'm not doing my trademark rainbow vomit scheme i usually just use a manufacturer's color because i am boring.
After finishing the LMP1 event series tonight, i have decided that forza ai still has no idea how aerodynamics work. no you don't need to slow down to 70 mph in an R18 e-tron to take Radillion you bastards stop making me rear end you at 160 mph.

Man, I'm actually in the habit of not applying vinyls at all because the cars in this look so beautiful on their own. I've been picking up everything I can in manufacturers' bright yellows and hoping the game hasn't been pulling designs for my drivatar.

Want to see "Drivatars Can't Handle This"? Try the Timeless Supercars series, while driving the RUF Yellowbird, in a Signature Event. The drivatars can't handle RUF-style handling at all and 15 of them on the track is hysterical. They also suffer from the opposite of the "Abarth Stoppies", in that they pop wheelies coming out of turns. Though, to be fair, so does mine...

My drivatar is clearly not winning races anymore. Its participation has more than doubled, and it has earned almost half as much. A shame.

I've just been using manufacturer colors or specialty masks and then doing simple vinyl wraps over top to add some definition. If you've seen my civic or s2000, pretty much just that.

Hey, don't lump me in with everyone else-- I'm a pinball wizard.
edit: but seriously, I found it infinitely more driveable than the shelby cobra when I was doing the WIP challenges.

I'd classify the Yellowbird as "Fun Not Good". At least mine can't keep up in a straight line with the Enzo's and Saleen's (which, BTW, seem to turn every drivatar that gets in them into blocking-pitting-geese), but it corners well, once you learn the trick to not instantly spin into a wall, and accelerates like a bat out of hell, wheelie included.
Saw Fender's drivatar for the first time in a race last night. Pulling past him in the middle of a straight and he jerks the wheel hard right, trying to body-check me off the road.
Y'all are teaching your kids bad habits.
Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.
I drive aggressive when someone is coming up on me, but I don't slam them usually. Though I had to laugh after screaming Wraith in the xbone thread I started a race where he full on hit my car right at the start.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I won't actively try to cut anyone off if they're going faster than me. Unless we're in the final few corners, then all bets are off.
My drivatar though? Who knows? It's a great mystery. I'd love to see some replay's of my AI in other people's races, but I'd probably be mortified by the results.
It would be interesting to watch my driveatar. Like I've seen Wraith's is a beast in sports cars, but in something like hot hatch's and he's no where to be found.

I have the sneaking suspicion that our driveatards are learning our driving habits in traffic without actually considering the traffic, and simultaneously causing and learning destructive tendencies in an awful feedback loop. So like, when we slam on the brakes at turn 3 on track X because driveatards gonna driveatard ahead our own driveatar thinks we slammed the brakes as normal operating procedure for turn 3, X. It then goes on to race like that in someone else's game, causing their drivetard to learn brake slamming.

This happens regardless of the series you're playing. It happens to me down in modern sports cars. I'll enter a corner knowing damn well I can carry it at the speed I'm at, but the AI in front of me will all slam on their brakes trying to use only mechanical grip to take the turn. I am constantly pulling this crazy around the outside oh-god-I'm-trying-not-to-hit-everything passes because the AI loves to slam on it's brakes when it doesn't need to.

I'd say that factors in, then again when the drivatar is open on a corner they tend to take it differently. Or drive over it on some tracks as I've seen.

Prague is pretty great, I love the hilly outside of town area. I also love Bathurst for the whole no throttle ever down the skyline feel. I could see Yas Marina being really fun racing lightly tuned street cars and citycars.
I don't know how they did it but Laguna Seca just feels perfect to me, I could drive that for like 40 laps and not even notice.
It's a boring answer but I probably have the most fun on Laguna Seca. Seeing drivatars going 4 wide into the corkscrew on the first lap is amazingly silly.

I've always been a fan of Road Atlanta, but that may be because I've actually driven it. My others would be Prague and Laguna Seca. Growing up on the west coast, Laguna Seca was always the holy grail of tracks everyone wanted to drive.
I haven't been in a major wreck, but one time I pit manuevered a driveatar into a group behind me. Completely accidental mind you, but still hilarious.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I'm really enjoying Prague, and as Acid mentioned, the hilly area with that winding uphill corner is my favorite. Laguna Seca has always held a warm spot in my heart. My neighbour works for BMW and got to go on a ridalong of Laguna Seca a couple of months ago. I was SO jealous.
Acid, I've had the same sneaking suspicion. I too think that the random brake checks etc... are a result of us reacting to incidents/getting caught off and having to check up. That causes our AI to do random brake checks. Ever seen a car just veer off the track *after* a turn? I believe you're seeing someone who lost control of their car and go off track. The drivatar learns, the person jerks the wheel hard right here, but there's a difference between skid recovery and actual racing.
Prague is an amazing track. Bernese alps is as awful as ever, but they really hit the ball out of the park with Prague. I have yet to race on the test air field during any race, but its laid out pretty terribly, so that's fine. Bathurst is amazing, because australia. Australian rally is awesome, and australian tracks in general are awesome (bathurst, surfers paradise, adelaide, etc...) Yas Marina is a ton of fun. I love that some corners are wide open with run off, and others have the wall up close to the track. I also love the number of configurations its capable of. The new road atlanta feels much better. The new silverstone... eh... Silverstone has never been a track I particularly love. I feel they're missing the best UK tracks (like brands hatch, oulton park, donnington). Spa is a great track, but as others have said, the AI doesn't know how to drive it...
Are there going to be more tracks? Friend of mine said previous incarnations did not have any, but since this one doesn't seem to have some iconic ones I wonder if we'll get some?
Also the top gear track is confusing to drive since there aren't really walls or streets to follow.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Laguna is great as always and the reduction in magic sand around the corkscrew leaves the best corner in the world much improved, but I do really like Prague, Spa and Bathurst. Spa is probably my favorite overall as the corners are really fun when you nail them, but Bathurst is fucking mental and makes you feel like a wizard when you do it perfect. Prague is just fun, and super wide through most of it so you can really do crazy stuff.
Yas Marina i reserve judgement on until i play with other humans that hopefully don't stop in every 90 degree corner.
And hopefully the Nurburgring comes back so that it can resume it's rightful place on the throne, god knows they've hinted at it enough.
Edit: @Preacher they've added new tracks in FM2 and 3, just not 4. Also they've hinted very heavily that they'll be adding more tracks. In a joystiq interview the other day,
"Expect more news on tracks in Forza Motorsport 5 in the near future," Greenawalt added.
Nurburgringgggggggg. I want Atom on the Ring rivals event, because i was thinking Radical on the Ring from FM4 wasn't stupid enough

They've already hinted that Nurburgring is coming back as DLC. I would imagine we'll get a couple of tracks, but they've gone on record as saying that with their new physics system tracks became much harder to model, requiring a lot more data, so the number of tracks will always be smaller than in previous incarnations.
I hate the bowling and I'm disappointed that I haven't found a career event at the Top Gear track that doesn't involve either that or stupid garbage bins.

They never make you actually race on top gear because top gear is a track best reserved for tomfoolery. figure 8 tracks without grade separation are just asking for terrible hilarious things to happen. p sure FM4 was the same way.
and while that's super fun online, it can be really stupid against ai.

Good point, I never thought of that. A sixteen car race would be impossible, but I would have expected some 1 on 1 stuff, which according to Preacher, I'll eventually get to.
